We have stayed @ Caribbean Beach '03, Cornado Springs '05, and now looking Riverside this year. We liked CB not so wild about CS, anybody stay there before.pirate:

The only difference in my opinion is the theming. We have stayed at CBR, CSR and POR over the years and it really depends what you like for theming. Other then that they all have multiple bus stops in their resorts and they are all large and spreadout. So I would say give POR a try.

We have never stayed at any moderate other than POR. We did tour the others on a goof off day at the World one trip. We prefer the theming at POR over the others. The walks to get anywhere seemed comparable.

We have stayed in all three, and I would rank them this way...

1. POR
2. CS
3. CB

The atmosphere of POR is wonderful. Very idyllic and soothing. We found we enjoyed hanging out at the resort for its own sake. We did not feel that way about the other two.

The other great thing is the ability to take the boat to Downtown Disney. Yes, you can take a bus from POR and the other two, but it's out of the ordinary and enjoyable. We didn't ride them, but we also thought the four-person bicycles were really cool.

We have stayed at POR and CSR. We thought CSR was just okay, but we LOVE POR.

We stayed there in December, 2004 and loved it. It is beautifully themed. It is large and spread out though which is why we tend to like Port Orleans French Quarter better -- we can still use the amenities at Riverside if we want to, but can enjoy the smallness of French Quarter.

We've stayed there the last two years...love it!

Food court makes it even better...lots of breakfast/lunch/dinner options.

Pools are nice...boat to DTD...it's a very restful resort, too.

Love POR, we just booked a last minute long weekend for the end of this month. We usually request AB, but last trip we were in the Mansions and were pleasantly surprised and ended up liking it very much. POR is in our top 3 favorite resorts.

POR you'll be very happy! It is so nice, we are heading back this June again. We have stayed at CBR also and it was so so for us too. Never have at CSR as we don't want a "convention" type place. Sorry CBR lovers.
POR is very well set up. It can be peaceful and quiet or hustling and bustling with action at the same time. It just depends on where you go on the resort. Try to get a room in BLDG #14, 15 or 18 and you'll have a great location. That is on the Alligator Bayou side, we have not stayed on the Mansions side so I can't say much about that. I know others can. You'll love POR no matter where you are.

Enjoy,
YO

I have stayed at the POR a few times and it is my second favorite moderate - CBR is my favorite and I don't care for Coronado. The times that I have stayed at POR I have always been in one of the Mansion rooms - not a far walk from the food court and the bus transportation is also convenient.

:goodvibes

We were forced into POR the 2nd time going to WDW due to we are a family of 5 and can't really afford the deluxe. We love it there and have returned x2 now and will be returning again on Wednesday. We haven't had much time to really explore the grounds alot but it is beautiful and quiet. We usually stay not in the perferred buildings and love the walkways to the food court. We have eaten dinner x1 in the food court and liked it very much. The buses can be a little slow but your in disney and what the heck. We are using the boat for DTD this time for the first and the kids can't wait. We find the room sizes quite comfortable for the 5 of us and the trundle bed is great. The 2 sinks in the am are a blessing. Best of luck with your decision and you can't go wrong with POR:wizard:

My family loves POR. It is a beautiful resort with its lush landscaping. The pools are great and we have always had good food at the food court. Give it a try.

Another fan of POR here. We always stay in Alligator Bayou, mostly because we love the landscaping there and it makes for very enjoyable walks. The mansion side is quite pretty too. Just a preference I guess. We've stayed at other moderates and have visited every other resort to check out the grounds. I think the only other one I'd rather stay at is AKL. POR may be a moderate but you get plenty of bang for your buck there. It's a wonderful place and I've always had a good experience there. Going back in September before our first Wonder cruise and am looking forwarded to visiting POR again just as much as the cruise. I hope you become as much of a fan as myself and all the above posters are. Let us know!!! - :tinker: Nancy

Is there a difference between the mansion rooms and AB rooms? My CM suggested I get a Mansion room, so I went with it....

Let me know!

Thanks!

How is the bus transportation? I have read that they share buses with POFQ... does anyone feel that it is unmanageable? (compared say to CBR that has like 6 bus stops)?

You can't go wrong at POR. We have stayed at POR, AKL, ASM, FW and old Disney Villas. We love POR and go 2-3 times per year. Try it - you won't be disappointed. Bus system is hit or miss, but we use rental car; except for MK.

Good Luck. :thumbsup2

We just got back Feb 2nd and loved POR also. We stayed in building 14. It was very conveniant to the dining and bus stop. We loved the ducks by the river in the morning and riding the boat to downtown was my favorite thing to do. My husband loved the breakfast at Boatwrights. I agree you will love POR whever you stay. We plan on staying there again when we take our grandson.

WE did not have any problems with the bus service. They run about every 10 minutes. My husband is in a wheelchair so he was loaded first. Sometimes the bus would be full and we would have to wait for another one but it came 10 minutes later
