Port Orleans Riverside

We stayed in a royal room and thought it was very nice. POR is a very pretty resort with a nice pool(you can use the pool at POFQ as well). We thought the food court was ok, we like the one at POFQ better.

Food court is good.
Royal Rooms are nice.
Boat to downtown Disney is relaxing.
Resort is quiet.

I don't love the buses though.

Resort if fantastic, some of the best grounds in all of disney IMO
RR's are nice, but they are out of the way a bit, still not a bad walk by any means, we just love the mansions rooms (all rooms are very nice though)
Boat to DTD is nice, very relaxing, not quick though
Very quiet, we actually felt more "at home" there than staying deluxe
Buses were fantastic, only waited more than 20 minutes once in 23 days we have spent there ...

Port Orleans Riverside is our favorite resort. We have stayed there more times than any other, and even when we have the chance to stay at other places, we keep going back. The resort it gorgeous. The food court is big and the food is good. The really nice thing is that by staying at Port Orleans Riverside, if you prefer the food at the French Quarter side, you can either hop on the boat, or take a short walk and eat over there. Their menus are different. We actually prefer the menu at French Quarter, but it's all a matter of preference.
The Royal Rooms are very pretty. I haven' stayed in one, but a really nice Mousekeeper was kind enough to let me peek in the door of an unoccupied room. The Royal Rooms are located in the Pattiere Place, and the area facing the Sassagoula River is set up like Royal Grounds with the flags of each princess and lovely fountains and gardens. Any little girl would certainly feel like a princess staying there.
The pool is wonderful, with plenty of place to hang-out.. whether you love the sun, or prefer the shade. There is a playground right next to it, and a fishin' hole just down the walkway. Along the walkways you will find hammocks to take a rest, if you like. There are also horse drawn carriage rides, bikes to rent, as well as water vehicles.
At night in the lounge, Piano Bob plays and it is all family friendly and he encourages the kids to get up and participate.
We have never had any problems with the busses at Port Orleans Riverside. Yes, there are about 4 or 5 bus stops, and they do make the rounds, and depending on which stop you are at, you might have to ride through a few before you get to a park, or back to your room. We usually use the stop at the front because we go to the parks after breakfast. Then we ride the bus back and get off at the stop closest to our room to decrease the amount of walking after a long day in the park.
I hope that you have a good time and love Port Orleans Riverside as much as we do. :flower1:

I think everyone else has covered it. My favorite part of POR is the beautiful grounds, the water fountains are a nice touch. It is very enjoyable to take a nice long walk. We stayed in the Royal Rooms. They were cute. The food court served it's purpose, but I like the food court at POFQ better. We stopped in the lounge briefly and it was full of people having a great time. We didn't swim, but the kids did play on the playground some and liked it. POR makes for a nice stay.

POR is a great resort. It is our favorite so far. We are staying at CSR this summer because we got a better deal and also enjoy this resort. We had a RR and it was close to everything, clean, food court and restaurants were good and clean. Great resort and had no problems. We were very close to the bus stop and never had to wait more than 10 minutes.

I absolutely love POR! Peaceful and beautiful. The buses can be a little iffy since there are 4 stops. It never really bothered me because it's the same way at Fort Wilderness. But I like that they are more frequest than the Value resorts. I would recommend POR to anyone!

I love POR and I'm a deluxe resort snob. I stayed in a mansion room which just so happened to have a bus stop right behind it. In the morning I'd walk over to the main bus stop, it's only about a 5 min. walk and catch the bus there since it's the last stop. At night, I'd get off at my building. It was perfect. The walk to POFQ is really short, I did it every morning on my early morning walk and it's really pleasant. The food court has just about everything you could want. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there.

Jumping on this thread. Just booked POR for Nov. 30-Dec. 5. It's the only mod we haven't stayed at yet, and I've wanted to try it. It's just DH and myself. We'll be using this as our anniversary gift to each other--29 years! When doing online check-in, what are the options for standard room? I want to stay in the Magnolia Bend section--it just looks more romantic to me. Also, do they have the Kuerig type of coffee machine or regular? And do they have tea bags? We just stayed at a BWV and no tea bags. I had taken some of my own since I had read about that. 207 days!! Let the countdown begin:)

don't know about the RR but we love the grounds, the atmosphere, the boats to DTD and the food court. It can get very crowded in the morning but has good food selections. We always stay in AB

Congratulations! DH and I are staying at POR in October to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Enjoy your time at POR. I know we can't wait to get there.

We've only stayed at CSR and POR one time each, and POR is clearly our Disney home.

We didn't love the food court, but the pizza was good. A really good use of 2 qs credits!

Thank you, and congrats to you too! Enjoy your trip:)

I felt the breakfast was good, but for lunch or dinner, POFQ is the best of all of the food courts. Large portions and yummy food!

We stayed at POR in a Royal Room for a few days to kick off our most recent trip.

The kids loved the décor of the Royal Room and the adults loved the resort grounds.

The main pool complex was nice but a bit of a walk from the Mansions section (where all of the Royal Rooms are located).

The boat ride to Downtown Disney is nice (even though we're not big Downtown Disney fans).

The food court is pretty good as food courts go, with a diverse choice of offerings (we had 3 meals there but we are more table service people - don't like the commotion of food courts).

We didn't use the busses at all (POR was the first leg of a split stay - we stayed at POR, in part, to adjust from West Coast time).
