Hi.. we just got back... we actually did not care for POR at all... we actually switched to the Contemporary. I can say that POR housekeeping was great.. but overall.. didn't like it.

Lost of issues... from checkin to everything. We arrived and had a room with 2 beds reserved.. opened our door and it was only 1 bed and it was handicapped.. I was so upset.. they asked us if they could just send a rolloway.. we told them no ... then went and got new keys for a new room after waiting an hour.. those keys didn't work.. had to go back again.. AND THIS RESORT IS HUGE.. LOTS OF WALKING... now.. the refrig don't work.. we were told they are trying to repair most.. that it doesn't work for new groceries that you need to have your items cold already.. well.. we just came from the store with cream cheese and such for breakfast items... I was so upset... it was just one thing after another.. by the 2 night we asked to be moved...

It just wasn't for us...

Everyone has their own taste though...

My fav still is WL!

We didn't care for POR at all either and switched after the first night. I don't understand the deal about a handicapped room but okay. I'm not sure why it would take an hour for new keys unless it was before check-in (3pm). We had a lot of issues with their front desk CMs. Glad you could change resorts though and enjoy the rest of your vacation.

We moved from Riverside as well last year. We were fortunate enough to get a room at CSR.

We had a ton of issues at Riverside as well including a long as heck check out line-- through the lobby down the hall and into the counter service restaurant- we waited over an hour!

Then the busses-- we won't even talk about that. It was awful.

Not only was the resort busses bad and all the resort back busses were awful as well.

we didn't try to check in until 3:45 pm.. it was so many issues it was unreal... never again! It wasn't a pleasant welcome to disney experience.. they gave us each 2 fast passes for taking up a total of 3 hours of our park time.. we actually didn't get to the parks until 8:00 pm once the bell services came with our luggage... we didn't take magical express.. my inlaws dropped us off since we stayed with them first... it was a huge ordeal to say the least.

they also told me the reason it took so long to get a hold of me was they checked us out of the first room and was not able to call that room then.. big mess.. someone should have came to our room and told us.. I kept calling on my cell until someone got a hold of the right person.

I can say though the ladies in the gift shop and the food court was exceptionally nice...

This scares me. My DILs have started staying at POR, so DH and I decided to give it a try. We're booked there 8/5-8/12. After hearing about the bussing problems, I started looking for other resorts, but none of the others that we want are available. :confused3

Congrats to you for getting moved to the CR. That's our first choice and there is nothing available.

So sorry to hear of your bad experience. To balance it out, I had to add we just stayed at POR in May and didn't have one problem or issue. We loved it and can't back. We requested bldg 14 and got it, and will be staying there again next trip.:hippie:

Hope things worked out for you in the end,:confused3

I'm so sorry your stay was bad. POR is our favorite moderate resort (well, DH's favorite overall)--in fact, that's the one I chose for my b-day trip this year and we had a blast!!! Our room was great and we never had to wait over 5 minutes for a bus. We did have to wait a few minutes for a boat to DTD since there are only a couple of them, but it was still a LOT of fun.

I totally agree... everyone has different taste..... We have stayed now at 2 of the values.. ASMovies and Pop and also WL, AKL and now Contemp. our fav is the WL for sure!!!!

Vickie46 -

May I ask when you switched over to the Contemporary, how was the difference in room rates handled from a Mod to a Deluxe? Did you have to pay rack rate? I know this a very personal question, but the few times I have switched hotels, they have been from one Mod to another Mod, so there was no $ difference. If you would prefer to send me a pm, I totally understand and appreciate it. Thanks!

We stayed at POR in May (a change from our normal CBR stays) and really enjoyed it. We actually really liked the bus service and the walk from the room (Acadia House) to the main area didn't seem as far as some of the CBR rooms.

As far as the fridges are concerned...they have fixed most (if not all) of the fridges so that it's on the lowest setting and have removed the temperature gages. However, we found it easy to 'fix' if you have a pair of needle nosed pliers.:thumbsup2 We take food and eat lunch in the room everyday...we pay for a resort w/ a fridge and at the very least expect it to keep our food cold. That would NOT have been possible on the setting they had it on.

But, POR just may not be what some are looking for and that is completely understandable. Just means more room for us next time! :goodvibes

Sorry to hear about all of the POR problems ... we have stayed there many times (one of our faves) and never had any problems of any kind. Housekeeping has always been great, busses have run on scheudle, CMs polite and helpful, check in smooth and quick and we have always opted for express checkout avoiding any issues there. I guess any resort can go through a "bad patch" ... even the deluxes ... we have had horrible experiences in the past at both CR and POLY and paid a lot more for the priviledge!;)

me too. i'm starting to rethink my plans.

I am wondering, like an earlier poster, if the change of hotels cost you extra or not. This being a change due to poor service, I'm thinking they should have given you a deal - but its Disney and they don't do that very often!

Here's another error on POR staff.

I asked to switch on my third day at POR. The staff there said first there was no availability at any of the other moderates and second if we went anywhere besides POR/POFQ there would be extra charges.

We drove OURSELVES down to CSR and pleaded our case. Of course, CSR had room and there were no extra charges. Granted we may have had some wonderful pixie dust that was dusted on us by Wade at the concierge desk but there were no charges.

Sorry about your stay at POR. Hopefully it got better at the Cont.

I'm with you regarding the PO resorts. They just weren't for us either.

We booked POR in 2004 - we lasted about 2 hours before DH went over to the GF and they were able to accomodate us. We (of course) had to pay the difference in price, but they did give us an AP rate (which we had booked at POR). It just wasn't for us. DH really disliked POR, I thought it was just okay.

Same here. DH hated it as well, and I only thought it was ok. We lasted 3 days though.

I would think you would have to pay the difference in price between "classes" of resorts- you had to pay higher for a deluxe. I went from moderate to moderate and paid no difference.
