Just did my online check in. We're arriving Friday. Kids are so excited.

I did a corner room and highest floor. I think I chose the Garden View when I booked. Hopefully it's a decent view and not too far away from bust stop or food. Never stayed at this resort before.

I just booked Preferred rooms for location but now looking at a few examples I am not delighted. I thought they had more of a mansion decor. I live in a log home and when I get away, I want civilization.

All the preferred rooms are in AB. If you want the mansions they're across the river from the preferred rooms. DH & I love the AB rooms & find the mansions too stuffy feeling.

Finally booked today with the Visa promo that came out. Can't wait to be home in 142 days!!!

We also arrive in 142 days at POR waiting for Thursday for TA to apply discount for our family of 5 (3 kids, 2 pay adult)

How exciting....well I wish you the best of luck getting exactly what you want on Thursday.

Its been two years since we've been...alot of things have changed, fastpass+ and magic bands (have to figure out what to do there).....but for the most part POR has stayed the same :thumbsup2

Can't wait!!

Thanks :) it's been three years for us and first time at POR, we've been doing lots of research, lots of new things, can't wait!

So happy to get a discount for the Disney Visa Card members. I was able to save 720.00 for the preferred rooms with the Stay Play and Dine. Woo Hoo
Only 106 days left. Starting to get very excited.

Have a Magical Day everyone,
Karen

First of all, thank you so much to everyone on this thread. Its been so helpful in planning our first trip to Disney!

We are finally headed to Riverside on Sat! I would like to know what time does the food court usually get busy in the mornings? Is there an ideal time we should head there for breakfast to beat the crowds?

Yes they do. We have stayed in both sections and like them for different reasons, but the last couple of stays we have booked the RR to guarantee we got the Mansions. We like the elegant old south feel of them, plus we like being on the other side of the river. What a nice walk and our DDs like using the bridges to cross the river:cutie::cutie: Have a great trip:wave2:

The one thing I can tell you, if it's busy in the main dining room, you can go to Boatwright's for additional seating. It has been quiet there, when we've done it.

There's nothing to freak out about. You'll be fine!

You were right. I was easily able to book all my fast passes easily and without reading too much information. It was a little confusing for a night when I am doing the Christmas Party but I was able to figure it out to change the times to when they will let me in early. I like how your able to change times. Also I was easily able to get the Seven Dwarves Mine Cart ride for both times I'm in the Magic Kingdom. All in all it was a major success. Thanks!

Well, we were scheduled to stay at POFQ again because we just adore it... but then the Disney Visa offer came out and now we're saving $500 and staying at POR!

I don't do well with change, lol, so it's a bit nerve-wracking to me but I'm sure for everyone else, it'll be great!

I'm most worried about the walking distance (we've got 2 toddlers & a kindergartener) but will be bringing our own strollers with us to use, and busing. But I'm looking forward to the food court.

Fingers crossed it'll be warm enough in February for our kiddos to swim!

How is the wifi in the rooms at POR? Our last stay CBR we had a hard time getting a connection.

From what I understand it may vary, but we had great luck with it checking out our memory maker photos on my iPad each night.

We stayed in AB lodge 26.

Dan

Told ya! Glad everything went well!

If I'm in AB with a Garden View room, which would be the best room/building to request to be as close as possible?

Our only other resort experience is POFQ and I'm nervous about the size of POR. I don't want to disappointed with our choice to switch based solely on how long it takes to get to food & buses. We have two 2-year-olds and a 5-year-old and while we'll have 2 strollers with us, I'm not looking forward to the whining about how long it takes to get to our room and quite frankly, by the end of the night I'll probably be whining about it too! ;)

ETA: I'm contemplating calling back today and seeing if we can switch to a preferred room with the S/P/D discount we just got but I'm all about saving money, not spending more. From what I understand from the portorleans.org site, it would be an additional $15 per night to go from garden view to preferred?

I was told there were no preferred rooms available with the discount.

Well, there's that, lol! :thumbsup2

FWIW, someone in another thread said they DID get a preferred room on S/P/D. Heck, I called Monday night and was told there was absolutely nothing available in POR for our dates... called again yesterday afternoon and the lovely CM (seriously, friendliest, most personable person I've ever talked to on the phone) said there were plenty of rooms available and happily changed my reservation for me. It's a bummer that your experience to get discounts seem to be based solely on who you're lucky/unlucky enough to get on the phone. Try, try again!
