Maybe it has to do with when you call. Maybe there was a cancelation or something? I have no idea.

The one thing I can tell you, if it's busy in the main dining room, you can go to Boatwright's for additional seating. It has been quiet there, when we've done it.

Awesome, thanks! We booked our fasts passes first thing the morning so I'm trying to make sure that I'm planning with enough time for breakfast.

If you put in a reservation for a preferred room a long, long time before your stay, can they take it away for any reason?

If you've booked a room and paid your deposit then you've booked it, it would only be in very exceptional circumstances indeed that they would cancel a guest's booking.

I was told there were no preferred rooms available with the discount.

It is possible that there are no preferred rooms available with the discount, though maybe it was specific to your dates? Maybe on other dates preferred rooms are available either with the room only discount or the Stay Play Dine deal.

I booked my Preferred room in AB a long time ago. When I called about the Disney Visa Card discount, they gave me the Stay Play and Dine discount with a preferred room. The discount for 25% off the room rate did not include preferred rooms. So, maybe it depends on which discount you are trying to use.

Could be! I have no idea. I am going during PHM week, so it is entirely possible! I am relieved I got anything at all!

I've tried to do a search and can't seem to find what I was looking for, so maybe someone can help me. I've been looking at the pictures of the Royal rooms and I was wondering if they still have the decorated bedspreads. I thought I remember reading some time ago that they replaced these with white covers, but I can't seem to find any pictures. Can anyone confirm if this change happened?

Last December we were in a Royal Room and the bedspreads had been replaced by the white cover.

We're back from our first stay at Port Orleans Riverside, and I have to say that it was even better than anticipated! Our room was ready when we arrived at about 10:00AM, and all my requests were met! (adjoining rooms, top floor, as close to the main hall as possible... got building 16) I really enjoyed the casual but still resort-like feel. In comparison, we went over to French Quarter one morning for breakfast, and I didn't like the atmosphere or decor there at all. Riverside was perfect for us though, and we had an awesome time!

It is all personal preference. I didn't like FQ either, but so many people love it.

No, those pretty decorated bedspreads went away about a year ago. The bedding is now all white, but with a coloured bed scarf (runner) across the bottom of the bed in the same pattern as the old bedspreads (I think they reused the material in fact). Not quite as immersive, but easier to keep clean.

I'm surprising DD15 with a stay in a Royal Room. I know that she'd love one of the rooms overlooking the courtyard and fountains, especially those rooms that are right in the center (near the staircases) that overlook the courtyard and the river. Is there a way to make that request without it being too specific? Should I request a specific building?

Also, should I book a Garden View room? I'm afraid if I do a River View, we might not have view of the courtyard at all.

Thanks!

Just upgraded my January trip!!!

Switched from standard room at POFQ to a Royal Room / River View at POR and saved $600!!!! :cool1:

It's for my youngest daughter's birthday -- she's going to love it!!! :dance3:
