Just upgraded my January trip!!!

Switched from standard room at POFQ to a Royal Room / River View at POR and saved $600!!!! :cool1:

It's for my youngest daughter's birthday -- she's going to love it!!! :dance3:

That's an amazing deal. I just got my discount for POFQ and it wasn't much. Maybe i should try for a Royal room too? Anyone know how far the walk would be from the Royal rooms to the main building?

If you go to the first page of this thread, there's a map. All of the royal rooms are in the first two mansion buildings on the right (if you're staring at the map on the computer).

It looks like a short walk across the little bridge in between the two buildings to the main bus stop & food court. (I've heard it takes like 5 minutes, but I've never stayed at POR before -- this will be our first Moderate resort! We usually stay in the Values).

And, yes. I received a much better discount by switching resorts!

I am not going to POR until 2015. I currently have a RR pool view. Only a few dollars more to be in a river view room. What would you pick? Preferences? I would like to be close to the main building.

If you want a guarantee of being fairly close to the footbridge that leads over to the main building, I'd stay with RR Pool View. There are some very nicely located RR River View rooms too, but there are also some which are located a little further away up the river towards French Quarter, and you can't be sure which you will get.

Thanks! I was looking at the map trying to figure the walking distance/time but it's hard to tell really.

I'm also trying determine the best room for my family. With the specials I booked a royal room with garden view. Are there any special room requests that I should make? We will have a car, so distance to bus stops aren't an issue. Distance to dining hall and parking lot may be something to consider? Does one building have better views? Is an upper floor better than a lower one? Any tips or suggestions are welcomed!

Just booked our second stay at POR! May 17-24, 2015.

Royal Guest Room again at DDs request. :-)

Love that is "official" :)

Here is what we have requested in the past. 1st-Room close to bridge, 2nd-Oak Manor, 3rd-Floor if we have a preferrence. We like ground floor, but I believe the view would be better on either 2nd or 3rd floor. We also faxed in our request 5-7 days prior to arriving.

How is the wifi in the rooms at POR? Our last stay CBR we had a hard time getting a connection.

We were there last week and service was quite good. We were uploading tons of pics and had no problems. The only place I had no service was in the laundry room (near building 17 in AB). It was a complete dead spot for me.

Hey all, love all the info in this thread. One thing I haven't seen discussed: do the TVs in the rooms (Royal room River view) have the capability for you to plug in an external hard drive to watch your own shows ( it would require a USB port)?

Thank you so much for your feedback. If I may ask, why do you prefer the ground floor? I have seen this in other posts too and was just wondering what the benefit is? Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

I prefer ground floor because it's quicker. I don't have to go to a central location (elevator or stairs) and then back out to my room. I just head straight to the room. I don't have to wait on an elevator. I don't have to drag stuff (or kids) up steps. And, if there's a fire, I'm first out.

I've never had a problem with noise above me. I don't spend enough time in the room looking out the window to care what my view is (although I've never had a bad one either).

No, but they do have an HDMI port, so as long as you've got a laptop or other similar device capable of playing your files, you could play via that.

Thank you!

Going in December for our DS's 5th birthday. I've booked a King Room but would love advice on what/where to request. DS will more than likely fall asleep on bus ride back from park. Ground floor seems obvious enough. What buildings would be closest to bus stops? I'm usually the one to carry him. What other advice can you give? Thanks in advance!

Thanks Andre, appreciate the info:) I do have a netbook I could bring:)

Has anyone ever booked 5 adults before? Having a few issues with our reservation and wanted some insight to see if anyone has ever booked this way before?

We still take a stroller and the ground floor is just easier:) Also, at POR especially in the mansion section, if we get a room overlooking the courtyard its like having a big front yard and our DDs can run around and we will be right by our room.

Agree! :thumbsup2 And just to add......I'm up and down my stairs at home all day, every day. When I'm on vacation, I hate stairs. ::yes::
