My bad, I mean how many rooms are there. Lol, about 200? I'm wanting to wait til oct to book to ensure a discount but not at the risk of not getting a preferred for Jan.

You might as well book now, then call back & apply the discount in October once they're released. That's what I would do, especially since you're well within the 180 day window to book ADRs and such.

I agree with Luv2Run

There are 204 rooms which fall into the Preferred Location booking category, all located in Alligator Bayou buildings 14, 15, 18 or 27.

What promo are people hoping for by the way? Remember that this Fall's 'Free' Dining offer did not include any rooms at all in POR or POFQ as they were already closer to capacity than some of the other resorts, so there are no guarantees. However if they do run a promo, and limit the amount of rooms, they will probably put more emphasis onto the pricier rooms (e.g. Royal Rooms often turn up in offers, as even with discount Disney still gets a fair bit of money for them).

I was really hoping for free dinning but I doubt that will happen. I'll take any discount I can get. By the way, back to my question... Does anyone have a suggestion on which Royal Room is closer to the foot bridge? Should I ask for River view or Pool View?

River views are the closest. But if you are trying to stay as close to the foot bridge as possible also in your request or if you send a fax then put that in there as well.

The very closest rooms of all are in the Royal River View category, but in that same category there are also some rooms quite a bit further down the river. All have very nice views though. The Royal Pool View rooms are all located within a fairly small area, all pretty close to the footbridge, and so those are your best guarantee for a shorter walk.

Thank you both. That was very helpful. Hopefully, we can get close to the main building. I will have to think about which I want... River or Pool view. Actually, I will just be happy to be there. I can't wait. ::MinnieMo

What are the odds that a discount will become available for the first week of June 2015 for an Alligator Bayou room, and what percentage do you think it might be?

I'm good with a RO discount! I think it would be a better deal than if say stay play dine came out again. Were going regardless, just keeping my fingers crossed for a lil something!

As much as I would love to book right now...I will wait until they release some sort of discount in October. My thinking is if people start booking now then they definitely won't include POR in any sort of discount. Hopefully that was just a one time deal for this fall!!

Odds of around 10.34:1 for a 21.4% discount. OK, I admit it, no one (not even Disney) has any idea at this stage.

That's kinda what happened with Free Dining - POR and POFQ were already pretty well booked (although as you say, probably a lot of those bookings were just holding spots, hoping for a promo, and were later cancelled) and so Disney did not include these resorts in the offer.

We are officially booked to return to POR in February for 7 nights! We stayed for the first two days of our trip last June, and fell in love!

So wait... When they offer a discount it's usually for certain specific days as opposed to say June1st-June18th and certain category of rooms? :/ now I'm nervous. I thought they just said 25% off POR from May 25th-July1st! (As an example...)

There are often blackout dates, and sometimes some room categories are excluded.

They will usually have a block of dates like you mentioned. But they do get specific with room categories and only have a couple to choose from. And those are usually the more expensive options, like preferred or river view etc.

Well there goes my plan haha. So if i'm hoping for a discount am I better off booking say a king room instead of a standard now? Cause if I book a standard now then switch to a king for the promo thats changing my reservation correct? Sorry, i'm a newbie. This is my first time planning!

If you "switch to a discount" (as you put it) you are really making a brand new booking from whatever pool of rooms they happen to have on offer at the time, just keeping your old reservation number.

What you happen to book now has no impact at all on what you might get via a future offer (in fact, if everyone booked all of the Standard rooms now, that would probably REDUCE the chances of Standard rooms being included in any offer, as they would already be mostly sold-out according to Disney's system).

See I just assumed they applied a discount not essentially making you an entire new booking again. We decided just to book the King room to be safe. So far my goal of keeping our trip under $3k isn't looking to good. So I'll just suck it up and hope for the best!

Unless you book preferred, there's no way to book Alligator Bayou. (All preferred rooms are in Alligator Bayou.) Otherwise, it's just a request.
