Can anyone tell me when the last boat from Downtown Disney comes back to the resort?

We will be staying at POR for two nights (Jan. 1 - Jan. 3, 2015). When making the reservation, I asked for a room fairly close to the main buildings, food court, etc. as my daughter has a spine and leg defect and we'd like to minimize the amount of extra walking she has to do as much as possible. I also requested Alligator Bayou as she will be more comfortable having her own bed (we are a family of 4). Just wondering if there is anything else I should do to (hopefully) have these requests fulfilled....?? I think I asked for bldg. 14 or 18 - can't remember off the top of my head!

ok, so I understand bldgs. 14 & 18 are preferred....does anyone else who has stayed there have a recommendation for which buildings I should be requesting? Anything else I can do to help to limit the amount of walking my daughter must do? She's a trooper but we are going to be there 11 days so I am trying to do whatever little things I can to make this a magical trip for her! TIA! :)

Don't request a building, just request what you want - close to the main building (which it sounds like you did when you made the reservation).

I have a quick question. If we book a preferred room... but have a scooter with us, are we guaranteed ground floor? I don't think the preferred rooms have elevators. Is it possible they would downgrade us away from preferred if they aren't able to accommodate ground floor?

We have booked our 2015 for POR in the preferred section. Second time here. Didn't love it but wanted to give it another chance since it gets such high reviews.

Our reservation is for a Pool View Royal Room. How far (estimated) will we be from the South Depot and East Depot? I waa going to "request" a Panterre River View across from footbridge in hopes of an "upgrade"... althought the RV is the same price as PV. Will that make us more centrally located? Trying to be about the same distance from both bus stops. Curious how long the walk is. I hear so many different opinions! We are moderately paced walkers :)

**my husbands main concern is being near the soda refill at the dining hall. Lol

The Royal Pool View rooms are about the best guarantee of location, after Preferred rooms of course. The walk to the food court and/or the South Depot is probably around 5 minutes (from a ground floor room) and the East Depot is not much further away than that. Have a look at the map in the first post for an idea of the distances, and see my floorplan maps in http://www.portorleans.org/floorplans.php for the exact location of all the Royal Pool View rooms.

We booked a garden view room. So should I also ask/request a for building 14 or 18 as well?
Sorry, I am just now starting to investigate my options of what to do and will read a few more posts tonight.

Buildings 14 & 18 fall under the "Preferred" room category(14,15,18 & 27) that you would have to upgrade to at a higher rate. Here is a site that has tons of info on POR/POFQ.

A lot of what I have read suggests that you request what you want (closest to the main building, ground floor etc) and don't worry about specific building numbers.

What rooms are good options for a pool view room category? Port Orleans is the family favorite resort. We've never booked this room category, so we are a little:confused3. Thanks.

If we have 8:15 am CP ADRs and want to be at at the entrance to MK at 8 am.. what time should we leave POR?

Thanks!

I would leave at 7:00ish if you are driving or busing to allow for time for travel, walking, and bag check. Any later than 7:15 would be iffy with all the travel variables.

I love going early for CP and getting those great shots of having the park all to ourselves as we go down Main Street! Enjoy!! :cool1:

Wow what a week! Never thought I could do so much in one week! WDW, Universal, Busch Tampa, and even Sea World! We needed this escape. Just catching up with everyone's posts.

Sounds like fun! Welcome back!

I am going to pm you this week if that is ok, I need to fax in my request on Friday and would love a 2nd set of eyes please if that is possible?

Sounds like you had a great week! I hope it was just what you needed.

We are arriving at POR on Sunday for our Disneymoon, and I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of hair dryers they have. I read on the POP thread that the in-room wall mounted hair dryers are being replaced with traditional hair dryers, and I'm curious if this change has made it's way to POR yet or not. I have really thick hair that just LOVES the Florida humidity and with a good hair dryer it takes upwards of 20 minutes to get my hair to dry. I'd love to save some weight in my luggage by not bringing my powerful dryer from home!

A couple of weeks ago they were still the in wall hair dryers. I'm lucky that I can let my hair dry overnight. The hair dryers are the ones that tend to eat my hair.
