Hi everyone,

My family and I are not staying at Port Orleans, but we would like to check
out the resort and also do cane pole fishing. We are staying at Wilderness Lodge. Would we be allowed to drive our rental car to Port Orleans and park there? What are the hours for cane pole fishing?

Thank you so much!
Stacie

Yes you will be able to park there. Here are the details from portorleans.org

Cane Pole Fishing

Relaxin’ at the secluded Fishin’ Hole on Ol’ Man Island

Port Orleans Riverside features an old-fashioned Fishin’ Hole that’s fun for the whole family, located on Ol’ Man Island just behind the Muddy Rivers pool bar. The fishing hole is open from 7:00am until 1:45pm (last poles hired out at 1:15pm) and is stocked with catfish, blue gill and bass. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. All fishing at Walt Disney World Resort property is “catch and release” only, but you’re welcome to take pictures to prevent those “big fish that got away” stories later.

My family and I just returned from a trip to WDW; we usually stay at the Port Orleans Riverside, but we switched to the All Star Music to take advantage of free dining. There are 5 of us, so the price of one room at POR is approximately the same as 2 rooms at the ASMu. We ended up booking the bounce back offer which was free dining and it included POR! So we have a trip booked for next Sept back at POR. Maybe there is hope that if Disney does freed dining next year it will include Port Orleans.

Questions about luggage transfer and room assignments:

Due to POR not offering FD this year, we are staying at CBR, however since I have experienced the level of knowledge and friendliness on this board in the past, I thought it best to ask my questions here to this great bunch of peeps :goodvibes

We are doing a split stay this trip (1st time). We will be staying for approx. 12 hours at POP and then moving over to CBR. Here is my question re: luggage and room assignments:

Is luggage held at the Bell Station when switching from one resort to another when having a luggage transfer between resorts or is it delivered to your room if a room is ready even if you haven't yet checked in yet?

Can we request that our luggage be held at the Bell Station until we physically check-in?

And finally, do you have a better chance of having your room requests met if you physically check-in at the counter rather than having your luggage delivered to your room without being present? (and yes, we do realize they are only requests). We have heard that some of the buildings in CBR have been refurbed and due to asthma and allergies in our family, we would love to have a 'newer' room if possible but don't know if our chances are better of getting that if we physically check-in with a cast member rather than an assignment based upon occupants unseen.

Thank you for your help. It's greatly appreciated!

Checking in one week from today. Can hardly believe it is finally close enough to touch. :hyper:

Just wanted to post that so I could verify it in my signature countdown. :rotfl:

Forgive me. Just ridiculously excited over here. I'm listening to my Disney Pandora station, ironing clothes to pack, and a sappy song comes on...where did these tears come from!? WTH? That's not normal, right?

74 days till check in at POR. Does anyone happen to know the up to date info on the hours for the boats to and from DTD? I was wondering if they have changed with all the construction?

No changes to the boat hours, and they are now using their new regular dock, located off a new walkway between Rainforest Café and Saratoga Springs.

Thank you! That's great news! We check in next week, and I was hoping we wouldn't have to walk so far all over DTD!

We're getting excited about our stay!

Are s'mores kits still available at the campfire? If so, price and how many s'mores will the kit make? Thanks!

Kits are no longer available. But Graham Crackers and Hershey bars are available for purchase in Fulton's General Store.

Thanks! We'll be stopping at Walmart on our way there anyways, so we can pick up supplies then.

I should have asked before if there are sticks or skewers available for roasting marshmallows. Anyone know?

Question about the Alligator Bayou rooms versus the Magnolia Bend rooms - the rooms look totally different, right? The pictures of the preferred rooms on the Disney website are exactly the same as the other rooms, but the Preferred rooms are all in Alligator Bayou, and the rooms in the two areas look different on this website:

A little anxiety. I am traveling alone with my 2 young daughters. The other times we came without my husband we met another group. This time it's just us so my sense of security is an issue. I know we are at disney but still.....
I have royal guest room, garden view. I guess I would like either close to bus stop or close to main building. Is such a request possible with the type of room I describe?
Also I am considering taxi to ohana breakfast. I will again feel insecurity. Are the taxis wdw taxi or outside service...how do I know it's legit?
