Only 8 more sleeps for our first stay at POR! So excited! Won't be able to fax any requests (don't care anyway - I like the surprise) but am hoping that we can stay in the same room. Have a split reservation so that we could get discounts, both in a garden view. Called yesterday to ask them to note that we hope to stay in the same room. Wish me luck. Either way, looking forward to a great time.

Curious has anyone done the magical express pick up at dtd yet? I am flying there in sept and am very excited to use of this if they keep it in place.

Can I first just say how awesome this thread has been - I have been educated about POR, that's for sure!

My family (DH, DS7, DS4 and I) are coming to POR in November and were able to get a standard view RR - we had really hoped for a preferred room, both for proximity to amenities (we use the food court a lot!) and the AB theming looked more appealing for boys. We are booked with FD so nothing was available other than the standard view RR. As excited as I am about the room, I am nervous about the proximity to the food court and bus stops - my TA requested a room in Oak Manor for us. Any other suggestions? I know standard is going to be the furthest away. I have considered booking a preferred room back at POP (where we had our first magical visit to WDW last summer) just to avoid being so far from things.

soooo excited!! I booked a package with FD but POR was sold out first... Had to go with CBR and I just wasn't thrilled b/c of the double beds and just the size of the resort! Just called about payment and happened to ask and POR was available for my dates!! )))) SOOOOO excited. I fell in love with pics of POR and was really bummed! YAY!!

60 days, and I got my DME packet today. They are getting those out earlier and earlier! I'm excited b/c we get to try something new because we're arriving in the daytime; we get to have our bags magically brought to our rooms. Oooooh.

I did online checkin and I figure in, oh, 52ish days I'll send a fax in with an area request.

We just found out about this yesterday. We fly out on Aug. 22nd late in the day and are definitely going to do this. I will be sure to report back how it goes. Hopefully they'll keep it in place for you to use.

We have RR Standard....I figured I'm getting one of two buildings and they're both about the same distance from everything. Am I wrong - is there something I should request? It would be nice to decrease the walk to the bus, what would I ask for?

Well, I'm actually not very happy about this added stop at Downtown Disney to pick up the same guests who could have boarded back at the resort. The bus leaving from Port Orleans to the airport already picks up PO first, then stops at both Old Key West and Saratoga Springs before heading to the airport. It is often a full 30 minutes from pick up at Port Orleans to actually leaving Disney property. That trip is tedious enough without adding another stop at Downtown. I did send a quick email to guest services to let them know that while this might bring more shopping revenue, it will really take the magic out of Magical Express for me.
I will be using Magical Express the last week of August so I really hope that this has been cancelled by then!

Ask to be close to a bus stop.

However, that means you are further from the main building, etc. but would be very little difference. You are better off not worrying about requests if you don't already have some type of preference. You already know your general location.
