I guess I just don't understand why they only show pictures of the royal rooms or mansion rooms. I double checked it earlier today and that's all I could find.

I personally prefer the AB rooms (good thing since we are a family of 5!) but I always wondered why they never showed the AB pics as well. Odd.

Could you let us know what you mean by "they" here, where are you only seeing mansion building rooms?

Andre

Yes, exactly. They don't have pictures anywhere else on he site either.

When you are looking at the rooms/location/price to choose from they (WDW) does not show rooms in AB. However, when you look at the resort review, the rooms section will show the different rooms. I never looked at that before.

Having said that, I did change our reservation to a RR as we really don't want to "hope" our request is available for a mansion room.

I do think it would be part of the fun to just not request any area, AB/Mansions, and be surprised when you check in, but this particular trip is just dh and me, and we prefer the romance of the mansion.

If they are looking at the old wdw site, they don't show the AB rooms. The new wdw site does though. That is one improvement I actually like about the new site.

When you look at pictures when choosing a room on the WDW siite:)

Oh, you're right! It's a valid sample of general room types at POR, but not of Preferred Rooms which is rather misleading as those are only in AB. That's a shame, as they've put a lot of work into those photos for the new site and I do like the general way it works. (Even if, as a Brit, I have to hack my browser in order to bypass Disney's forced-redirect to the UK site - there is no legit way to do it)

I thought only our family used sleeps as a form of measurement. I loved reading this. Have a great time.

Thanks! We're on Magical Express now! Hopefully at POR soon!

The murphy beds are 63 inches long and they recommend no older than 9, but we are a short family with three members under 63 inches (though not under nine). Is the age recommendation mainly for length or are the murphy beds fine if your short enough? Like sleeping in a sleeping bag, which is usually 20-25inches wide.

Anyone under about 5'3" should be fine, my DD was 5'2.5" last time she slept in one and was fine.

Has anyone heard much about the new mattresses being very hard and uncomfortable?

:santa:

We stayed in a royal room last month, and yes, the beds were very hard. To put it in perspective, our bed at home is a pillow top and we have a gel topper on it, so our bed at home is super squishy. The POR beds felt so hard in comparison, but it only really bothered us on the first night. After that we were so exhausted that we had no trouble sleeping :)

What "new" WDW site? I've looked recently and it only shows the mansion rooms and royal guest rooms--no AB rooms photo'd.

hmmmm...I thought I saw AB pics last month when we booked. Maybe I'm confusing it with pics from somewhere else. Sorry :)

Woohoo, we got upgraded to a royal room, garden view, but river is right outside, and a fountain! Gorgeous!
