So glad I found this thread! I have read the first page and the last 12-15 pages but didn't see this discussed, so sorry if I'm repeating a question.

We just booked a water view RR. If we want to try to get as close to the nearest bus depot and food court, what building should we request?

Well that is an often "In Your Own Opinion" discussion here. I personally say when requesting a room as close as possible to the foot bridge to the main building. You already have a water view, so that may put you right there by it anyways near the pool and the pool is right where the foot bridge is to main building. Both Parterre and Oak Buildings are RR Themed so it could be either building. I personally like second floor and the Oak Manor Building (Less foot traffic on second floor).

Hope this helps but it is purely each persons opinion. I just liked my location last time.

We just checked into POR tonight...2nd floor RR...corner room...oak manor. Great view...incredible room! A little rehab going on here, but minor work. Close to everything. This resort is beautiful. So gladden we picked it. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to stay in a RR.
What exactly is being rehab?

We will be staying the last week of May and have a 9:00am reservation at the Animal Kingdom park. What time should we be at the bus stop ?
I also wanted to know how long to allow for traveling to Downtown Disney for a TREX ressie at 7:00pm ? We kind of would like to take the boat. What time to leave for both boat or bus. I'm guessing the boat takes longer. I stayed there a long time ago but cannot remember

Be at the bus stop a good hour before your reservation time, just to be safe.

Boats to DTD take 20 mins, and in the evening they come along every 10 mins or so. But you need to allow time in case you miss one (or even two) so to be honest, I'd suggest allowing an hour too (although it will probably take you less than that).

My question is this....Do you need to book a certain room type at POR to get the Free dining offer, if its offered? Why I am thinking that we couldnt have a "garden view" type room for free dining, we would need a higher-level room like a preferred room or something....does this ring any bells??

As has been said, free dining is highly unlikely in May. And even if it were to be released later, it would not be possible to combine it with any other discounts so you'd lose your 30% PIN anyway. If you have an existing booking and then FD gets released, you technically would be cancelling and rebooking anyway, at which point you would choose from whatever categories they happen to be offering the FD with.

If I wanted a preferred room, preferably pool view, would I book a preferred room and request pool view or book pool view and request a preferred building?

The six Pool View rooms in building 18 are sold as Pool View, not Preferred Location. However the nearby Preferred rooms are almost as good, and just as close to the pool, so I'd suggest booking Preferred and requesting a room as close as possible to the quiet pool (they may even switch you to one of those six pool view rooms if you're lucky).

Just request a room close to the footbridge over to the main building/South bus stop.

The roof of Oak Manor, but it's being done section by section to avoid disrupting the whole building.

We leave in four days for our first trip to POR! Sent my fax yesterday and cannot wait to get there. Hoping for some pixie dust but just being at Disney is pixie dust every day! Thanks to Andre for all the help and a special thanks to Venom for giving some advice and looking over my fax! Hope everyone has a great Friday!

Good morning everyone!

Thanks for the tips, everyone! This is our first time staying moderate. We've always stayed value before, but DH wanted to stay somewhere different this time. I'm SO excited!!! I saw pictures of a corner RR and would LOVE to be lucky enough to be given that one! It just looks different inside with the windows that way! LOL I loved it! I can't wait.......September will never get here, it feels!

Thanks Andre! One more question for you guys...if I book a pool view room, how feasible is it to get one in Alligator bayou section if I request it? (Family of 4, but the extra bed so DS and DD don't have to share would be nice.)

Thanks! :-)

Yeah it is possible to get a room with a view of the pool in the AB section. You may request it. It never hurts to ask!

First trip on site is in 16 days! Staying at POR!

Will be in the AB section, since people we are going with have 3 kids (we'll have 3 rooms for our party). I'd like to request bottom floor, since we'll have strollers. Which building is good to request??

Are you basically on your own to get your luggage to your room or do they have carts at all or anything to load up? Thinking of a possible garden view room with the requests of Alligator Bayou section, ground floor (for ease of strollers), near quiet pool and near transportation. Too much to ask?

We stayed in a corner room in oak manor RR and it was lovely to have more light come in, it didn't "feel" as tight. We have a family of 5 at the time DD was 2 1/2 so she was in a pack n play.

You leave your luggage up front before you enter the lobby with bell services and they bring it to your room. Same when you are leaving. They can help you take it to your car.

Where did you see the pics? I'd love to see them. We had a corner room but in alligator bayou last August. This April we booked a RR which is what I originally wanted for August but we had a big group so we didn't fit.

Which building? :-) did you like where you were then? Did I ask you that already?
