Port Orleans Riverside Q&A Thread 2013, Part Three (NOW CLOSED, see 2014 thread)

I am glad my family does not sweat the small stuff like with the buses, I use to be a little like that yeeeears ago, but I have really learned how to relax and enjoy being at WDW, whether it is in line or standing on a crowded bus. When we stayed at POR at the beginning of the year, we were in the RGR and always used the front of the resort bus stop, we enjoyed walking by the river and over the bridge much better than crossing the parking lot just to be picked up sooner. We really like to enjoy the resort and its theming by walking around. We know a famly that has stayed at POR twice and both times stayed in the preferred area, they did not know there was a bridge over the river to the mansion side until we mentioned it They rent a car and drive everywhere so they have not even taken the nice boat ride to DTD. Just as we were amazed by that, they were just as amazed that we use disney transportation Everyone vacations differently

We didn't mind the wait for the buses & water transportation.

The parks can be so hustle and bustle, that a little wait could be a calming and refreshing thing.

I don't mind the waits...I just don't like being packed onto a bus to stand for 15 - 20 minutes through traffic...lol

Just came home from our split stay at POR (ab) and poly ... POR was really great! I was so hesitant when booking because I thought the room was going to be too small for a family of 5! I am glad to say I was WRONG! The room and the grounds went above and beyond my expectations. We were in the AB bldg 18 pool view. Never loud, the walk to the bus stop (south) was so simple, the walk to the main bldg was also very short and simple but what I loved most were the wonderful CMs, the grounds and Christmas decorations. This resort is now at the top of our list. I hope to upload my pics soon so I can show u all just how beautiful it really is!

Glad to hear your review. My biggest concern about booking here was that I wasn't sure that it would be enough room for my family of 5. Was size was the murphy bed?

Glad you had a great trip, I guess you are like us and are NOT in the "once you go deluxe you can't stay anywhere else" Can't wait for the pics.

I worry about the same thing. We stayed at POP last year with my family of five (my youngest was on a reservation with his grandparents but stayed in our room instead of with them) and the five of us were crammed in like sardines We don't spend very much time in our room, but I will admit that it got to be a little bit too much by the end of our week. We decided never again, and we will only book rooms that will accommodate all five of us...even if we travel with grandparents again! I looked at the deluxe resorts, but really, I have a hard time spending that on a room that we don't really spend a lot of time in.

If anyone has stayed with a family of five, I would love to hear how roomy (or not) the AB murphy bed rooms are.

Honestly, though, I would sleep in a box if it meant that I got to be in Disney World!!!

The outdoor movies will start at 7pm and the daily campfires commence at 5pm this month.

Don't miss the seasonal musical presentations in the run-up to Christmas. Special events including games, activities and Character Greetings will take place on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and more fun is planned at Riverside for New Year's Eve from 9pm until midnight.

I'm escaping chilly Edmonton in 5 days!! Hopefully the snow falls coming in Through this weekend and Monday don't affect my 6:30 am departure on Tuesday morning!!! Can't wait

Have a great time! My hubby is supposedly flying to Vancouver on the first flight Monday morning ...if his flight gets cancelled I'll tell him to get out and shovel the runway ready for you on Tuesday!!
