I would say to be at the bus stop by 7:45. That way you have time to make it to MK, get through bag check/security and be close to the front of the crowd at the gates. The opening show starts 10 minutes til 9 and you don't want to miss it! It's the official start of the day! Lol.

We love rope drop! We were there for all 3 of our MK days last year, but those were off property. This is our first onsite stay, so I am trying to get a feel for the bus timing. We'll have a car, but I really did not like having to deal with the TTC.

What about for EMH in April, at what time should we be at the bus stop for that? Maybe 6:45 since the EMH starts at 8?

Yes 6:30-6:45 will be a good time for EMH. The good thing is that the bus stops won't be busy that early in the morning, even with EMH!!! You just have to make sure you make it through security before 7:30ish. That's when it will start to form a line! We always bring bubbles to keep our little ones entertained until rope drop! : )

Good thing about the buses are that they will take you all the way up to the front of MK, unlike with the TTC where you have to get on the monorail after parking your car. Buses can be slow and fill up quickly but that normally happens later in the day. The morning isn't so bad.

MK was the only park last year we took the bus to and from POR. I loved getting off right in front of MK. My DS who's 2 1/2 right now still remembers the buses and talks about them every day.
Thanks again

We just booked our vacation to Port Orleans Riverside for this August, 12 to 20, 2014.:thumbsup2
Very excited.
Time to make a few ADR's:surfweb:
I would like to give a special thanks to Andre and Venomhatch for all of your tips and advice.

Do they also do the opening show when EMH starts or only at the regular park opening time?

I just booked this week for a surprise birthday trip for our oldest son:) He will turn 10 on the trip. It will be myself, DS9 and DS7. I have never gone without DH with the kids, but we go often enough that I am not nervous at all. I uprgraded to a Royal Room today for just $10 more for the 3 nights total. I requested Oak Manor, standard room. 98 days to go!

Very exciting. So you and three boys in a RR. I wonder what their reaction will be. I'm guessing since it's just mom going this time you get to pick the room.

Have fun everyone! I wish we were spending more than 2 nights at POR, but dh loves being able to spread out in the cabins. He fell in love with OKW when we looked at it online. Maybe next year.

Hello all,

We've just booked our Disney World vacation - Oct 26th - Nov 4th at POR! What do you think our odds are at getting the Free Dining plan for this resort during those dates? Our fingers are crossed...

I think (from past experience) that it'd be unlikely in their initial release of any free dining offers (if they happen at all, of course) but sometimes they extend the offer time period later. Keep your fingers crossed anyway.

I too had never been to WDW without my DH. But I just retuned from going by myself with my DD who is 10.we went down on our own four days before my DH joined us! Everything worked out great. I was very comfortable sine Disney takes care of everything with Magical Express and everything else once we arrived.

Enjoy your trip

It is me and my 2 sons. I looked at the photos and didn't feel that it was for girls only. I know my first grader will love the fireworks on the headboard. We did have a LM room booked at AOA at one point and that was shot down really quickly for our trip last August.
Any other thoughts? I don't want to have them be disappointed.

From what I understand the room was made to appeal to boys too. It doesn't look as girlish as the LM room to me. I think your boys will love it. I know any kid would love the fireworks on the bed. ;)

I am also hoping for the free dining to be extended to October. It is our only chance of going this year for our 1st visit to the port of Orleans. I believe it was extended last year. Hears to hoping.

We stayed in a RR the last two years and my nephew who will be 14 this year was disappointed I wasn't able to book one for this year as we booked pool view, non RR. lol I think they will love it. Its don't pastelly princess so I do think it also appeals to the boys and the fireworks are pretty cool.

How is the new roof on the Oak Mansion progressing? We have a pool view room reserved for 5/27-6/3 was wondering if we would be impacted
