I am just looking around at prices for this August. We quite fancy trying a moderate this year but I can't decide between Port Orleans or Caribean Beach. We had a look round POR and thought it was lovely but Im not sure whether CB would be better beacuse of the location???

Can anyone who has stayed at either please tell me what you liked/disliked about them?

Thankyou!!

My pick POR because the pool is much better and the boat ride to DTD. hope you have a great trip.:cool1:

Hi Jen,

Ive stayed at both but pref CBR better, i liked the idea of the island we were in jamaica in sept 06, like the seperate bus stops. found it weird the 1st few days as i was used to the central hub guest serv/food court/bus stop all in one area, but after few days loved it!!!

very laid back feeling at CBR, thought i would use the main p[ool at old port royale b4 i went, but no used our "island" pool which was a 30 second walk from our room!!

Thanks for the answers. Lesluvdisney did you find the buses really busy by the time it got yo you or were they ok?

Come on someone else must have stayed there, I need help deciding!! :goodvibes

I don't think this is going to help much, but I've stayed at both and I'm the opposite to Les, I prefer POR.

I really enjoy the quiet feeling to the place and the river is lovely to walk along or get the boat to DTD. The main swimming pool is amongst the best at Disney and the quiet pools are exactly that, quiet.

I`ve only visited CBR but stayed at POR loads of times. I love that resort - so very peaceful and beautiful.
The boat down to DTD is really good and a real bonus.
To get to MK and Epcot its only about 10 mins on the bus, MGM a few minutes longer and AK about 20mins.
Have you considered the French Quarter, I think we`ll stay there next.

I stayed at Caribbean Beach in 2000. We loved the resort, great food court :) We had a room at Martinique which was close to everything.

Have you looked at the info we have here on the DIS about the resorts

Caribbean Beach

POR & POFQ

I think I am leaning towards POR, it looks very relaxing. :goodvibes

LOVE..LOVE...LOVE POR! Beautiful place! Also, we drove and were able to park right outside our door, so we could drive or we could take the bus (bus stop about 50 yards away from our room). The laundry room was right outside our door as was one of the many pools at the resort. The main resort pool was awesome, and the kids loved it.

Okay, now you've got me wanting to go back! lol

I don't think you can go wrong with either :)

We stayed at CBR (only for one night) and loved the laid back tropical theme and the bar / dining area in particular. It was super to have the beaches and hammocks and the view of Epcot :cloud9: The only down side I can see is if you are very far from the main area it could be less convenient (still do-able, but less handy). However, the same could be said of POR.

We haven't stayed at POR but have looked round several times, swum in the pool, eaten in the food court (we were staying at POFQ at the time).

POR has a wonderful laid back feel, the swimming pool is better than CBR (and the waterslide much better, if that matters to you ;) ) and best of all, the boat to DTD is absolutely lovely.

I would choose POR over CBR, I think, but either will give you a fantastic stay :thumbsup2

POR wins hands down, the theming is wonderful. I have to admit I havent stayed at CBR but have visited and wasnt impressed (sorry CBR lovers) Try the fishing at POR and take time out to enjoy the resort.
