I'm planning my honeymoon and wanted to know if others though POR would be a good choice of resorts. I can't afford more than a moderate resort, so POR, CBR, and CS are my only options. If it makes a difference I'll be honeymooning in January.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Dis! I'll move this over to our Resorts board for you to get some answers. :)

You can go wrong with any of the moderates. They are all landscaped beatifully. CBR is very romantic with the beaches and hammocks. You can also see the Epcot fireworks at night also. It all comes down to the theming you like best. You will have a wonderful honeymoon at WDW. :)

We have stayed at POR Riverside a number of times and the one thing we always commented on was all the COUPLES with no kids - we assume many were honeymooners.

I think their pool area is better geared for you. It is very large - kinda an L shape - where one end is the slide, baby pool and family hang out. The other is deeper, waterfall and by the jacuzzi and bar. It was almost like "adults only" feeling to us with kids.

If you are without car......POR is very centrally located and felt the transportation from there went very well. Also can take a boat down to Downtown Disney and that is a nice ride.

Coronado is great but it was very much kid/family oriented pool that had a large number of seats very much in open view. Jacuzzi huge but then full of people. I loved the hotel, but I don't think I would want to be there for my honeymoon. Also a convention hotel, so can be very busy with business people (and their families in tow).

Caribbean is just not one of our favorites. Pretty buildings and white sand, but very spread out. Pool areas very crowded. Very disappointed with food areas. Had the least amount of "customer service" there. Even though the caribbean theme, we felt like there was no privacy anywhere.

Wish I had gone to Disney on my honeymoon - enjoy!

I think you will absolutely love POR for your honeymoon! The grounds are so beautifully landscaped and it just feels so relaxing, even after a busy day at the parks! Plus the boat to Downtown Disney is very peaceful and romantic. I also think you'll enjoy the piano player in the lounge. I would suggest requesting a room in the Mansions section--we stayed in Magnolia Terrace and loved it! I also wish I had honeymooned at Disney! Congratulations!

I certainly hope so;) We're staying there for ours in Dec. We stayed at POR on our first trip and had an amazing time. It's one of the few resorts where you can guarantee a king bed, plus all king rooms are water view! It's very romantic and affordable so you can do more fun stuff like nice dinners and spa trips!

It's a beautiful resort! Definitely my favorite. The boat ride to Downtown Disney is free, and fun. Lots of water craft there, surry bikes, beautiful walk paths, etc. Enjoy.:D

You might want to request the Magnolia bend section and a king bed on your reservation. It tends to be a quietter area. More families in the AB section. It is a beautiful resort. Dont forget to have them note that it is your honeymoon on your resort resv & PS. They often tend to go the extra if this is noted.

Of the resorts in the Moderate range this is the best especi ally for a honeymoon. I just returned from there last night after celebrateding our 35th anniversary. we took two moonlight boat rides from POR to Downtown Disney, just beautiful, AND we took the horse and carriage ride which was very romantic and special as well. The resort is beautiful just to wander the grounds especially at night. We actually cancelled Dinner at Cinderellas Table for Dinner at Boatwrights in the hotel.
You would be very happy with POR as a choice. When is the wedding though as they will at some point close parts for renovations. Not that I noticed any really needed ones.

My cousin and his wife honeymooned at POR and they loved it.

They preferred the Mansions, because it was more 'romantic'.

I think of all the moderates this would be my choice for a Honeymoon, because the setting is so wonderful and peaceful.

We stayed there for our honeymoon. We stayed in Acadian House in the Mansions section and we loved it. It was so beautiful and quiet and romantic. We would take the long way back to our room every night just to walk around and take in everything. We ate at Boatwright's one night and it was great. Very friendly and the food was wonderful. I am partial to the Mansion side but we did walk Alligator Bayou and it was very pretty too but I always pictured myself a southern belle so the Mansions were my first choice.:p We were aound the back of Acadian House so we were only steps to a bus stop and it was very quiet. I don't think we encountered more than 5 people on our way to or from our room. I am a big fan of the quiet pools. We had a lot of fun just floating around there. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask me.
