CCV Direct or More Resale (CCV or SSR)

Are you buying riv resale??? next time im buying resale because direct takes forever and tons of issues

For most its almost instant and flawless
The weird part that I dont get about them is the points are still there for me to book away lol u think they'd have frozen them after cancellation to not further complicate things if I were to book again

I think the one thing I'm remembering about resale is that, the stakes are just so much lower. You buy direct, and you better be prepared to keep those points for long time - I mean, you don't have to, but you'll take a big loss.

Buy resale, especially if you manage to hunt for a good deal, you're not as committed. Change your mind in a few years? Sell and buy something else. Of course, resale prices are never guaranteed, but we've got a lot history and a pretty robust resale market that we are all very familiar with.

If you love Riv, as we do, resale Riv is such a great deal and can free up your direct Riv, which you have a ton of.

What's your current breakdown of points again?

A fair amount do, but I suspect most people who are straddling sit tight with their points until the dust settles. Whereas you went on a point spending spree :)
Geez whats the fun in that i was eager to get my vacations secured lol

600 direct RIV, 350 resale CCV.
Hrmm resale RIV could make it interesting to get you essentially cheap SAP+ since those could free up direct RIV points, I probably wouldn't buy a large amount of it still though maybe max of 200. I still think you don't need to change anything right now though since it doesn't seem like you actually need more points RN

Agreed, I don't need anything right now. I am possibly targeting a GV stay for week stay at Thanksgiving 2027, and I think I might like to do that at CCV, in which case I could use a few more CCV points. But, I also have enough RIV points to make that pretty easily happen there if I don't get the extra CCV points.

E-mailed my guide to tell her I'm passing on the CCV sale. Feeling good about that being the right decision.

Now, if only that yahoo broker would get back to me about the resale deal I thought I had yesterday 🤣.
I think that’s the right move. Fingers crossed he gets back to you today to end the suspense! But you can always bid away on other contracts while waiting.

I often debate RIV resale - we love the resort and have a nice # of direct points. And while being ‘stuck’ there sounds lovely, the issue for me is that sometimes circumstances take us to other resorts.

Example: we have two large family trips planned over the next year and for various reasons, we’re staying at BCV and POLY. I could have put my foot down and said we were staying at RIV but I want to make sure this trip works for everyone. In fact, the next time we could potentially stay at RIV would’t be until spring break 2027, and even that looks unlikely.

I understand conceptually that if we were to stay, having those cheap restricted points could help bump us up to better rooms when combined with our direct - but in those scenarios my direct points are basically becoming restricted as well.

I guess you could buy enough RIV resale that you could use them as standalone but for a host of reasons I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing it.

All that said…I have no doubt that down the road I’ll be kicking myself for not buying RIV resale when I had the chance!!!

It turns out that if you are the one doing the booking and the spending of points, other people can make a lot of things work.

They aren't going anywhere.
