If you follow the path past the South bus stop, you will see a small entrance just on the left. Look really hard! If you climb down, you will emerge at the MK about 5 hours later.

Don't forget a snorkel or diving gear though, that shallow Florida water table plays havoc with the tunnel...

... hey, I've just thought of a use for the old 20,000 Leagues Nautilus subs, can we dig them up again? :)

Does anyone have any information on how the rooms will be refurbed for families of 5? I had heard a while back something about a murphy bed, has anyone been able to confirm this?

Also, any ideas on what the decor will be like in the refurbed AB rooms? We are a family of 5 and hope to stay at POR for our next stay, but don't really care for the current AB room decor.

There will be a pull-down murphy bed, on the wall beneath the TV.

The decor hasn't been leaked publicly yet, but it has been described to me as "a bit like the current concept, but on steroids". I was told that they have decided to keep the current bathroom/wash area flooring as that was only put down fairly recently, which would be great as I really like those details.

I do hope they might have been able to retain (or replace with similar) the rustic 'log' bed headers and footers, but I don't know how costly that would be. Those details always made Alligator Bayou stand out as being a bit different from the norm, and were a great Disney touch.

Hopefully we'll all know in about two weeks anyway.

We have a little less than 5 weeks.

We received our luggage tags from ME this weekend, so now it is starting to become a reality for my traveling companions.

Our little 5 year old companion that does not know we are going have been "in training" by watching all of the Disney movies with her mom, dad, and their roommates (my neighbors). She has been getting to know the characters. They also bought five pumpkins, one for each of them, and decorated them with Disney Characters. Skylar did Minnie Mouse.

One day last week, Skylar asked her mom if they could go to Disney World some day and Kelsie said, "Well, not this year, because we just bought a new car and we are trying to look for a house, but maybe some other time."

She just replied, "Okay, that's all right."

Boy is she in for a big surprise. :woohoo:

That's precious! I think everyone would just love the opportunity to see a surprise like this! :goodvibes Enjoy your trip! We still have 4 months. :headache:

Just made a reservation for the French Quarter for next June and have started to obsessively plan. This will be our first time staying at the French Quarter, and instead of reading thru 180 plus lages of info, I figured I would do a quick post (even though I will make it through all 180 pages over the next few weeks!!)

Question is how far of a walk is it to the Ole man Island swimming pool, and the Riverside food court if we stay in either building 6 or 7 at the FQ?? Or should we plan on driving over?

Thanks in advance for any replies. :goodvibes

We plan on posting it on youtube, so I will let you guys know what we posted it under.

This is everyone's first trip except for one of the guys and this is his first time staying on-site.

This is also the first plane ride for my neighbor Holly, Skylar (the five year old) and Cole (the one year old). Lots of firsts.

And we are celebrating that Alex (my neighbor) just got home from Afghanistan two weeks ago, after seven months away from home.

They are all especially excited about the resort. I told them we could get 8 day tickets, but they want to spend the entire first day at the resort - we will be there by 11:00 am. We have printed off some pictures to show Skylar; we even put her on my reservation so we could definately stay in the mansions. That was their preference.

Whenever I take friends, I always make them sit on the right hand side of the ME bus and I sit on the left hand side across from them and get to see their reaction when they come around that bend and see the river and the marina and then the main entrance with all the christmas decorations.

It's just like coming home for the holidays......

Just a bit under five weeks!;)

It is about an eight to ten minute walk to the main building and the pool on the other side.

You can also take the water taxi over - they run from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm and they stop on the way out to DTD and the way back at POFQ.

They run every twenty minutes before 4:00 pm and every ten minutes after 4:00 pm.

POR was our first resort for 2 nights and this reminds me of our first time walking into a Disney resort. It's such a fun, wonderful experience isn't it?:cloud9:

My gosh, yes...... I remember my first trip was to CBR and I was on the land/sea package, so we were actually greeted by the Cruise Line CM's at the resort, even though we didn't leave for the cruise until the second part of the week.

I think my feet didn't actually touch the ground all day that first day - I felt like I was queen for a day. Especially since I was alone, I got a lot of attention from the CM's everywhere I went.

Since then, I have switched to POR and had several solo trips, as well as trips with family or friends - the looks on their faces is priceless. There is nothing better than getting off the ME bus and being there just as the water taxi is coming around the bend from POFQ. I can almost hear it now.......

All of my friends and family think I'm a bit nuts when it comes to Disney and my love for it...you put it into words so well! :flower3:

I haved to say that my dad and stepmother are pretty much over it - I can just say the word Dis and I get the eye roll immediately.

I think seriously, get over it, I am a little tired of hearing about her painting and soap business.......so we are even!:rotfl:
