I think I'm missing it somewhere so sorry if this question has a very obvious answer. The garden view is not the same thing as the 'standard' view right? Standard view on PortOrleans.org lists standard view as facing (or potentially facing) parking lots. It doesn't however list garden view as an option and standard isn't listed in the OP so I'm wondering if somewhere those two became one and the same?

I'm booked Jan 8-14 at POR with free dining in a queen bed gardenview room (going to request one of the refurbed mansions) but I am trying to determine if this category is a parking lot-facing category or not.

TIA! :goodvibes

Garden view is not facing parking lots. We had a garden view last Aug, but was upgraded to pool view in Acadian House. Great location!

Been Awhile. Away on business and man its good to be home.
Back to random shots...another from the general store.

KCmike...are you telling me your job isn't taking pictures at POR to share with us? :confused3

Thanks for the pics! :)

:yay: just got room rate adjusted for Jan, from $135/night to $109/night with new AP 35% off. Woohoo

I see that the winter discounts were posted on DisneyParks.com, but what is an "AP" discount?

I only see a 25% discount, not 35%. Is there something I am missing?

How do I get a rate of $109 per night?? Thanks!

Yeah and how far out does this discount work for? I am going on the 24th of February.

Ahhh...AP is "Annual Pass."

People get way too carried away with using abbreviations and acrostics on here. Just type the words so we know what you are talking about.

Kind of an odd/dumb question.....lol. I know I saw pics on this thread but it moves so fast, I have no idea how much farther back they would be.
I'm trying to decide if we should bring some small Christmas decor for our window(s) on our trip. So, I was looking on ebay & found some Disney Christmas window clings. Now, there is one only window in each room, right? It isn't a double? I was looking at my pics of our room back in 2007 & it got cut off, lol. I am 98% postive it's one window but I want to make sure I bring enough clings.

I didn't see any answer to your question... so I will take a stab at it.

My experience is limited just to our room that we had in AB. Our room had a big double pane window.... so you may need enough for more. We also were in a corner room so we had another pane on the side. I would suggest bringing extras, just in case. HTH

People who have been on the DIS awhile just do it automatically. It's faster and easier and becomes second nature.:rotfl: Here's a list of common abbreviations though:

Hmm, not sure which pages you were looking at, but the 2012 Rates page has included the following wording in the room types section for months:

  • Standard: These rooms are the new basic standard, and presumably most rooms in this category will face towards parking lots. Standard view rooms can be located in any of the buildings at French Quarter except for 2, 5 and 6, and any building at Riverside EXCEPT for Alligator Bayou lodges 14, 15, 18 and 27 (which are designated as Preferred).
  • new-icon.gif
Garden View: These rooms offer views of the gardens, courtyards, landscaping or bayou. Garden View rooms can be located in any of the buildings at French Quarter, and any building at Riverside EXCEPT for Alligator Bayou lodges 14, 15, 18 and 27 (which are designated as Preferred). $10 per night surcharge.

Hello POR experts! Well we have booked a FD package for Feb! Yay! So, it is my family of 5, me, DH, DD15, DD11, and DS5. When I booked, the only available room category was Garden View, which described the room as having 2 queens. No mention of doubles, no mention of trundle, or any other bedding options. Are the garden view rooms only in the mansions?

See above. Garden view rooms (a category which starts in 2012) can be in any section of the resort, and basically just mean that you won't get a parking-lot view. The Disney website blurb seesm to have been written on the assumption that the refurbishments will all be complete by then, meaning that all rooms will have queen beds. However until July/August you could just as easily get two double beds if you are given a pre-refurb room in Alligator Bayou.

You are unlikely to get a mansion building with two doubles very much into 2012 though, as the last two buildings will be closed for refurbishment starting in January (Work on Oak is due to be started on 15 Jan, Parterre on 19 Feb).
