Port Orleans Riverside FAQ thread - Royally Refurbished for 2011

Thinking about staying at POR in one of the new Royal Guest rooms instead of at CSR. One thing I loved about CSR is that the pool bar (Siesta's) was on the dining plan and we could order food that counted as either a snack or a counter service meal. I heard that the pool bar at POR does not include the dining plan. Is that true? If it is, how far away is Riverside Mill from the main pool? Thanks in advance!

The Mill is a short walk over to the bridge from the pool and your there. Maybe 150-200 feet i think. Maybe less.

The main pool is right across a bridge from the food court, maybe a minute walk including getting into the building

The right side is the main pool area, the left side ends next to the food court.

Was this another d3100 shot? Thanks for the illustration!

Thanks so much, that will definitely work...now one more question, and I apologize if this has been asked a million times...does anyone know what buildings will be finished first for the Royal Guest rooms? We are booked for April.

Oak building completion due on feb 15th I believe. Check portorleans.org, look under news then room refurb. There will be a schedule down some.

Did i mention we have our Jan POR trip booked? Then when we got to POR last month we had the Free Dining offer for 2012, so I booked Aug 10 nights free DDP (regular plan) :rolleyes1

Wow, what a burden to have to plan all those trips, how will you cope-the pressure! Maybe you will need a vacation to alleviate the stress? ;)

Are you sad? I'm sorry...:sad1:

Umm, not sad. I've had time to adjust, it's been closed for breakfast for awhile. I just thought if we could get the Sweet Potato 'Cakes at Riverside Mill it might be worth a try.

What I miss even more and now that I think about it, it makes me sad, is Bonfamille's Cafe at French Quarter.

Yeah I can imagine that the weight of all them quarters could make your suitcase weight higher, then it might be subject to a overweight bag fee.

As Brits, we seem to end up with lots of change after two weeks, as we tend to just hand over bills to pay for things rather than rooting through loose change, so it just builds up.

My DD uses up a few of the pennies in the pressed penny machines, but I always end up coming home with a load of quarters and some dimes (useful for road tolls/etc next time). Anything smaller we tend to leave for the room maid, must be a dollar or two each time.

I kept changing my mind about resorts over and over and over again.

I finally got tired of making myself crazy and handed the decision over to my husband. I was leaning towards Pop because it's cheaper and maybe a few nights at WL at the end of the trip to try something different.

But I laid out all the options and prices and possible lengths of stay we can afford at each level and told him that whatever he picked would be the finally decision and my eyes would no longer wander to any other resort on Disney property (and I'd never consider staying off site!).

And he chose.... eight nights at Port Orleans Riverside. :) :) :)

Our last trip was to POFQ and we really, really loved it. But we were always going over to POR for the bigger food court and because there was more going on and so we thought it would be best to just stay there this time.

This will be my second time around with POR, only my last stay was when it was Dixie Landings. I'm thrilled to be going back. I think that Port Orleans as a whole is just home. No matter how many other resorts we look at, even deluxe, our hearts just come back to POR.

I am leaning towards shelling out the extra $$ for a Royal Room. I think it's going to be worth it, they seem so fun. :)

So, one year and counting!

I wish I could get someone over there to ship me a pair of license plates from the uk. My family comes from there originally.
