We love POR! We honeymooned there in 2000 when it was Dixie Landings and returned with our 3 small boys in 2010 for our 10 year anniversary! It's tough as a family of 5 to find some place to stay, hoping they keep the trundle beds! And I hope to get to stay in the new Royal room someday!! :wizard:
That's similar to us except we Disneymooned at POFQ in 2002 and are returning this summer w/ our 3 kids for our 9th anniversary!

We will be at POR in 18 days!!! We booked at 205 days so it has been a long haul for us. My fiance says there hasn't been a day where I didn't mention the trip. I think she may be exagerating a wee bit.....:goodvibes

We usually stay at FQ but changed to POR because we have another child who will be coming with us and needed a 5 person room. Wasnt too sure but I am starting to get excited about POR now.
My wife isnt a big Disney vacation fan and she says I am crazy when it comes to this. Luckily for me I won my kids over to my Disney attitude many vacations ago.
I hope she is impressed with POR because FQ was definitely her fave from all we have stayed in before.
:thumbsup2

"The grass is always greener......" or so they say (whoever they are). I am in the same boat as Sue M except I am from waaaay eastern Canada. I think that a happy medium would be nice.....somewhere between what you have and what we have.

50 days until Disney and POR!

That would be nice :goodvibes I'm all for happy medium. Happy Canada Day!

KCmike great pics! Love the details you get. POR is really a beautiful resort, can't wait to return.

Thanks Sue.

KCMIKE... your beautiful pictures are making me wish it was September already!!!

will the new rooms have the trundle bed? And do all the rooms have a small fridgerator?

We hope so (in Alligator Bayou rooms only of course), or at least some sort of option for a fifth person sleeping in the room anyway.

Yes, all rooms have a refrigerator.

Our family stayed in Parterre Place around Thanksgiving of last year. This is an awesome resort!

We also stayed for a few days at the Polynesian. And while I preferred the rooms at the Poly to POR, we loved POR overall and wished that we'd spent our entire time here. POR just had a more relaxed vibe and is very lush. We loved the food court and there was a lot of variety. (Although we did rent a car and therefore did not have any bus issues that we've heard about.)

KCmike and Purple Opal Your pictures are great! Does anyone know how much it costs to rent a surrey? Those look like fun!

I paid off our vacation at 45 days and I've already received our ME tags and the rest of the paperwork came today. :cool1:

Yes I do, and yes they are fun.

Oh, you want me to tell you the price now don't you? :)

2-seater is $21.30 per half-hour session, 4-seater is $23.43 (inc tax). You can go twice around the riverside route in that time, but keep some energy in reserve for the incline up to the river bridge!

Can you ride w/ a 3 year old on your lap? We have a family of 5!

We have a family of 5 and last year we put our 3 year old in the very front of the bike in front of us. There is a perfect little seat for them. He loved and and rang the little bell and said good morning to everyone we passed by on the trail. One thing to note though as a warning. My other 2 kids were 8 & 6. They sat in the back 2 seats and were not quite big enough to help peddle. This made for an exhausting trip for DH and I as the bikes for 4 are harder to peddle. We made it around the track once and were exhausted. The cast members at the rental were awesome though and since we were only gone for 15 min they didn't charge us for the full half hour. It was totally a fun experience but I think we will wait to do it again until people are bigger and more help, lol :)

Thanks Michelle. Yikes!!!! Our older 2 are almost 6 and almost 8 so maybe we should skip it this year....

YW! Like I said, it was fun but I just couldn't last the whole half hour, lol. When we came back and said we were done the guy kinda laughed and said "I thought you might say that" :)

BTW I just noticed your dates of your trip and you will be there for my birthday on 8/21 so feel free to send me some disney magic vibes for my Bday :thumbsup2 We always go in November. I was just thinking the other day what it would be like the end of August there. Our Anniversary is on the 19th and my bday on the 21st. How cool would it be to go during all that celebration. I think we are a little spoiled though with the week before Thanksgiving. The weather has always been great and the crowds pretty low. Once the kids are older though I feel taking them out of school may become an issue. You'll have to let me know what you think of the weather and crowd levels.

Have a wonderful time!!

Thanks. When we used to go w/o the kids we always went in Nov, after NJ Teacher Convention and just before Thanksgiving. It's the PERFECT time to go but we don't want to take the kids out of school which is why we're going at the end of August. We got married in August and Disneymooned in November. I'll definitely send you some magic Disney vibes for your bday and anniversary!!!
