Anyone know how long the walk is from 36 to Riverside Mill? We check in on the 19th and an thinking about calling to ask about staying in a refurb. room.

Ok First time NOT in a value so I am very excited. Two questions... is the water slide open in December? And are the pools heated? THanks

pools are heated... air is not! pool slide is open, but may have limited hours...

re: storage concerns... you may want to consider one of those hanging closet things that have like five cubbies/shelves... i have no clue what they are called... like this

to add shelf space to the closet... they fold up small and easily fit in a suitcase... they are great if you don't typically have a lot of hanging clothes...

Pools are always heated. You have to decide if you can make the walk back to the room.

I love this idea! I have one of these hanging in my son's closet and will now plan on taking it with us - thanks to you. I can pick out my kids clothes the night before and have a designated tucked away spot where they can each look for their things to get dressed first thing. Hopefully less chaos in the AM!

Ok, so I called CRO today and requested a refurbed room in bldg 36. I had to repeat my simple request 3 times and have her read back to me what she wrote and she still didn't get it right the first two times. But I think it's noted right now.

Do you think this is the way to go? I know it will be more walking but I really like the idea of sleeping in NEW queen beds and a totally redone room, IF they're really done in time. How much more walking is it?!

I did already pay in advance for preferred location (Free dining promo) which I think is too late to get back any $. Do you think maybe they'll give me a credit at the resort instead?

glad it helped! i have two that i used for my older kids school stuff (gym clothes, library books, etc) sorted by what day they needed it, which i plan to take with us... i will also lay out our clothes the night before so it makes mornings easier... i will likely use the other for shoes (because i HATE tripping over shoes! LOL!)

I DID IT!

I UPGRADED from Pop Century!!!!!!!!!!!

:cool1: :woohoo:  :cheer2:

We are now booked in PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE in a Garden View ROYAL GUEST ROOM!

I'm so excited!!!

Ok, now I'm waffling. I looked at the map which I hadn't done in a while and realized that bldg 36 is ALL the way at the back of the resort. If the quiet pool won't be open because of the refurb, I think I might have to go back to a preferred location.

Your thoughts everyone?

Hi everyone,

When is Alligator Bayou supposed to be completed? We are thinking of going September 2012 and want a refurbished room!

Hanging shelves exactly what we were thinking.

We were in Bldg 34 in the second part of our stay & it was a 3-4 min. walk to the pool & another minute to the main bldg.

Is the quiet pool in this area closed? That may be a deal breaker for me.

I have been a lurker, but have read ALL 206 pages over the last week!! I have come to these boards before EVERY trip I've taken to WDW. Thank you to everyone!! We check in on Nov 26th for 4 nights after a 6 night Royal Caribbean cruise. We've left the WDW part a surprise for our 11yr old, we're going to wait until we're in the rental car from the FLL airport to tell him!!! This forum has been so helpful with info! I will post any useful info when I get back for all those headed to POR soon. I'm am so excited!!!

If I went swimming in the Ol' Man Island pool in February, with less than 50 degrees air temp, and then walked (erm, OK, fairly quickly!) back to our Magnolia Bend room, I guess it's possible to swim pretty much any time.

Mind you, there weren't many other people in the pool at the time, and the slide was shut and the water features were all turned off as there was no point running them! :)
