3 weeks? Wow, what a dream!! :worship:

Yes that's exactly what is was a dream come true!! I was worried that 22 nights at WDW would be abit much, but I was wrong, it was an AMAZING trip, the weather was perfect, hot but perfect.

This was are first stay at POR, and loved it! We were given a corner room, ground floor in Parterre Place, not a newly redone room, but that didn't matter to us either way, right next to a quiet pool, and a very short walk to everything! I actually timed the walk to the food court and it took me 2 mins from are room! Mouse Keeping did a wonderful job, and left us a number of different towel animals, and always rearranged my DD stuffies on the bed everyday!

We never found the food court to be crowded at all, and every meal we ate there was hot and good! The make your own pasta station is very yummy!!

Never had any issues with the buses, the longest we waited was 20 mins one night coming out of Hollywood Studios at closing, we didn't think that was to bad considering the amout of people exiting the park!

We walked over to the fishing hole one morning, where my DH and DD rented poles and actually caught a fish! A very small fish but a fish none the less! haha

We did find the main pool to be crowded at all times of the day, so when we didn't feel like dealing with the crowd we swan in the pool right beside are room!

POR is a beautiful resort and I would recommend it to anyone. The boat to DTD is a nice relaxing ride which we enjoyed alot. The staff is friendly and helpful and I would stay here again!!

I promise to post more pics soon, I have a TON!

We leave in 4 days!! :cool1:
I was wondering if anyone had any advice on where to stop for groceries...
We need to get a couple cold items so it has to be close, but we want to avoid the inflated theme park area prices.
Any suggestions?

ETA: Went back and searched and found the link to portorleans.org
Somebody already answered that- lol!!

Glad you had such a great time!:cool1: Since you stayed at POR for 3 weeks, you're the perfect person to ask...

We will be staying for 18 nights next summer and I'm a little concerned about the storage space. 3 little drawers just isn't enough. We usually pack enough clothes for our length of stay (which is usually 2 weeks,) but with 18 nights, I guess we'll have to do laundry. Anyway, how did you handle the limited storage space for that long of a stay? Or did you just bring a week's worth of clothes and launder them a couple of times? Looking forward to POR!!!

Hi! Excuse me, butting in ;)...I just wanted to say that our family of 5 stayed at POP last year (little man was still considered an infant so we squeezed in) and the rooms there had just been redone (very nicely BTW) and there were only 3 drawers, like at POR...so I took one of those collapsible/hanging shelf hanger things and it worked really well. It takes very little room in the luggage because it folds down flatly, was strong enough to hold alot of items, didn't take up too much room in the closet area and was a great organizing tool b/c I could put all 3 of the boys' clothes in each shelf pocket for the day and we were all ready to go to the parks. I will be taking it again with me on our next trip (in 17 days!!!!).

You may still have to do some laundry staying 18 days (lucky you), firstly so you don't have to pack your entire closet and secondly, if you are like me, I don't have enough clothes to go 18 days without doing some laundry.

Happy planning!

Also, a hanging shoe rack over the bathroom door works well too.

I went with three friends from work one year and although all of us are neat freaks, it was a life saver. Each person got a row and filled it with whatever they wished.

POR is a beautiful resort and I know you'll have a great time there!! As for storage, we lived out of are suitcases, I had mine sitting on the floor between the bed and door, DH sitting on the bench, and DD sitting under the bench. I brought a bag for dirty laundry which sat in the sink area, and yes I did laundry 4 or 5 times while there, I'm an early riser anyhow so thats when I would do it. Anything we bought we stuck up on the shelf in the sink area. This worked for the 3 of us, and we never felt cramped at all!

I'm hoping some of you Riverside fans can help me out. I"ve only ever stayed at POFQ. We love it there... and can't seem to bring ourselves to stay anywhere else! Well, we screwed up this year, and the week we want to go, French Quarter has no availability. Riverside would be our next choice, but I have some questions.

We are a family of 4 with 2 young children. We also travel with my parents. They both have mobility and health issues. POFQ has always worked out really well for them due to the small size of the resort. Even if you get really bad luck with room assignment, you're still pretty close to everything. It looks like at Riverside if you get a bad room assignment, you could be pretty far out there. My family could deal with that, but it would be pretty difficult for my parents. I realize that Disney doesn't guarantee room requests, but if we were to request something... does anyone have any suggestions? My dad would have a very hard time with stairs, so I'm guessing the AB section would be our last choice. Also, I'm thinking a request in the mansions might be more likely to be granted, because they would rather fill the AB with families of 5. Is that a good assumption??

Thanks for any insight you can offer!

I would book the preferred category if it's available and request ground floor.
It is in AB but closer to the front. I would also call and let them know he has certain needs in a room.

Good luck

Hey fellow Michiganders....Where are you from?

I'm from Tecumseh...In Lenawee county.

That was the most stressfull game ever! I'm so glad they're heading home now!

Saline! But I attend MOPS at 1st Presbyterian in Tecumseh, and I took my hubby skydiving at Skydive Tecumseh for his birthday two weeks ago....small world!
