We're going with our DD7 in December - so you'd recommend having a stroller? We have been going back and forth about taking our umbrella stroller with us, but weren't sure if we would use it.

What does she weigh? Most umbrellas aren't strong enough for a seven year old. Orlando Stroller has one that has a higher weight. Honestly, I'd go without one and see how she does. They will deliver after you are already there! I think my 7yo may have been ok in December. It was the heat that got her, not the walking. We like in Indiana and just aren't used to the sun being so strong!

Also, your screen name made me giggle-- my nickname is Chelle and my last initial is B. :)

We barely used the stroller when my DD was 6 because she was too heavy to push in our umbrella stroller. Our DD has always been on the large side 90%+ percentile so maybe a way tinier 7 year old would be OK still in an umbrella stroller.

Our DD was 7 last october and did great without any stroller because we didn't have the heat issues. Dad did put her on his shoulders a time or two to walk to the bus at the end of the night, but that was rare. It's just me, but I would've viewed the stroller as more of a hindrance. But, we didn't go during heat and probably wouldn't. I could see that the heat could cause a definite challenge. We stayed in the mansions at POR - Acadian and didn't find the walk to be bad at all at the end of the night. We got off at the North Depot. Buses were always there at MK in the evening...at least 2-3 for POR. I think the time of the year is definitely a factor.

PB will be 7 when we go, and we're planning on bringing our Mac Volo with a Buggy Board. we haven't used a stroller at all in probably a year (Jelly isn't a stroller kind of kid), but I especially want it for the end of the day. Because I'm a crazy planner, I already got a buggy board and tried it out, lol. PB is about 40lbs and 45", Jelly is 30lbs and 37". It's totally not a problem to push by any means (the buggy board makes it a little more dicey, but with PB in the stroller and Jelly standing it's fine, and that's most likely how we'd do it anyway).

ETA: the weight limit on the Volo is 55lbs.

Just wanted to give a heads up...FD pkgs are mostly sold out for POR! Tried to upgrade to garden view and no dice. Most all dates for POR are gone. CM said they may open more up and to call prior to our final pay date, but no guarantees. Kinda kicking myself for not upgrading before this. Even tried to run some dates at straight rack and no riverview available.

***UPDATE: I'm such a WDW website stalker!! LOL I called this morning and nothing was available at POR during FD dates So, I went on the website this afternoon to fiddle with our dates (yet again, I don't know why because we already have plane tickets and aren't changing them, but did it anyway!) and one day less had availability and so did one day more and I kept doing our original dates and low and behold the Riverview came up as available and I wasted no time upgrading. It was about $200 more for the week from Standard, but worth it for us! Soooo excited!!! Woot!

:) First time posting since returning from a lovely 2 weeks at Riverside. What a beautiful resort. Will be returning next year. When we booked the bounceback my husband chose to come back to Riverside, that is a really big deal. My spouse loves to try new resorts, for him to say let's come back here is akin to an endorsement . Met many lovely people at the resort pools, even met a Disboard member. Hi Chewy's mom. Spent most of our time at the Parks, and went to the pools mostly at night. I have to say the quiet pools are beautiful. They seemed to shine in the moonlight. I have a great vacation story to tell all of you: At the main pool one night and felt something in my hair. When I put my hand on my head to get out what ever was there, out came a frog!:rotfl2:. He (the frog) seemed as shocked as I was. The frog jumped out of my hand and into the pool, but he seemed to be struggling in the water. Maybe he was afraid that touching a human might give him warts.:rotfl: Anyway my husband gently caught him before the kids in the pool could get him and placed in in the shrubs. :goodvibes

POR is beautiful! MY DH was the same way. I asked him where he wanted to stay next and he said.."same place." Man of few words and isn't easily impressed! The frog story is HILARIOUS! Sounds like you didn't freak out and kept your cool, too! Kudos!

Thank You:goodvibes
Our daughter wanted to take the frog home with us. Told her no, his home is at Riverside. Now she has been hounding us to get her a pet frog.:faint: Like a dog isn't enough in a apartment in NYC.

Just came across a crazy auction on eBay for 6 nights/7 days at POR for 55 people with tickets and food for December for $29,000+ !? Some Disney Vacation planner is trying to auction it.

Anyone know the name of the song they dance to st the beginning of the daily pool party? My 7yo would like to have it. :)

Cool! Hi Chelle! :) I use to be a Chelle but then DH started calling me Chelley and it stuck :)

Thanks everyone! We are arriving 5 days after DD's 7th birthday. She weighs just over 40lbs, so maybe 42 by Disney. DH and I talked about it again and we're going to go without and rent one if needed. We just don't want to lug it around if we aren't going to use it. Plus, DH really likes the idea of only having it for the park and not having to take it on the bus/boats/monorail. Really appreciate the advice/experience. It's our first time taking DD, so all the advice is appreciated :)

We are here! Got here yesterday evening. Got my corner room!! Glad I faxed. Love the room (AB) it's a beautiful resort. So relaxed just like we wanted. People are so nice. So far doesn't seem crowded at all. We'll see how the buses are today.
We watched a movie On the lawn last night and tired out the kids. I am so excited for animal kingdom I couldn't sleep any longer. LOL I'm worse than a kid. :)

What room are you in and is it a 2-queen room or king? I feel your excitement!

I have been in corner rooms three times; twice in a king and once in two queen. So it varies.

So we are just back and I always make videos of our trips for my kids but this time I made a shorter video of JUST our time at POR because we had so much fun with the resort activities. A lot of family photos but a lot of pictures of POR itself, too. If you want to see it, here's the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3fbl6ZGdmY&list=UUe6jIwS4STS-hrbmCmD5MyQ&index=1&feature=plpp_video

Hi,
What a great video. I love the music. What camera did you use to get the underwater pictures?

That video was priceless and made me sad at the same time at the end.
