So, we checked in last night. Just haven't had time to post. Ended up in Parterre Place. Our room is beautiful!!!!! We ate at Paradisio 37 last night. My brother in law, who lives in Lakeland, came to visit, and we were able to walk right in. I was able to eat their enchilada because the tortilla was corn rather than flour. It was delicious. They also had a flour less chocolate cake that made my night!!!! Now we are on our way to sea world.

So happy for you:yay: How long does it take to get to the bus stop or food court from bldg 39?

Just had to add I can't imagine traveling 24 hours:scared1:

Hmmm. Let's see. The walk to the main building isn't too bad. I'd say less than 5 minutes (unless your carrying 2 bags of groceries a 12 pack of water and an12 pack of corona from a garden grocer delivery back to your
Room. Then it takes FOREVER. Should have just asked hell services to deliver it!)

The bus stop is maybe 2 mins away. And the
Closest quite pool 1 min. I know it's probably in the furthest away group of buildings. But I think it's pretty great! Just across the bridge to old man island then across the bridge near the fishing hole and your call most there! Only problem so far is that we're the corner room
Next to the stairs. Meaning that everyone on the second floor has to walk right past the room. Not so good when your trying to go to slep at 8pm.

Traveling 24 hrs isn't too bad. We had a 2 hr domestic flight. 13 hours to LA then a 16hr stopover (we went to the Disney soda fountain in Hollywood) and then 4.5 hrs to MCO! But being at Disney makes it all worthwhile!

Now if DF would only hurry up as wake up so we can go outlet mall shopping!!! (we have two empty suitcases that need filling

We had such a good time at POR on our August trip that I'd like to stay again on our next trip. We were really spoiled with a fabulous Royal Room in Parterre. We really loved the view and room location. For the next trip we probably won't be able to afford a Royal Room again. Which other mansion would you recommend? Also, how are the preferred buildings in AB? Building 14 looks pretty darn convenient. We may consider a garden room there.

I'll need confirmation here but I believe they are the round filter paper top and bottom.....I have a similar machine at home and that's what my pods look like.

Thanks KSRO.

I'll just bring many of them in case they work.

Also from the Oak Manor courtyard (where they play the movie), we could see fireworks. Just the high ones, over the trees when looking across the river towards the food court. Was it Wishes?

do they play movies at the resort? we have stayed before, but didnt know about a movie.:rolleyes2

They play a nightly movie on a big screen on the lawn at Oak Manor. Andre has the current listing on activities schedule on POR.org.

We are leaving tomorrow morning for PORS and thanks to all the great advice I truely look forward to a wonderful stay.:goodvibes

I'm asking on this thread because I figure more of you are familiar with the busing to/from MK...

Our first full day at WDW (5 weeks from today!) we are headed to MK, which is also a MNSSHP day. We don't plan on going to the party that day (but later in the week). It's also DD's birthday. I figure we'll be at MK at rope-drop. We have lunch at CP at noon. I was figuring we'd then head back to POR to rest, then go back to MK for a couple of more hours, then hit our 6:50 ADR at Kona Cafe on the way back to POR. But now I'm wondering if we'll have enough time to make it worth our while to even go back to POR in the afternoon. What do those of you that are experienced in going back & forth from POR think? I can either keep on plan if the consensus is we'll have enough time, or stay at the park all day and try for an early ADR at KC - leaving out of the park around 4 or 5pm. We'll have a 16 month old with us, who will be the complete wildcard in all of this. TIA!!

Thanks KSRO.

You are welcome! I'm bringing a bunch too! Hubby loves a dark coffee and drinks it black....but I love a flavored coffee with cream and sweetener. It's the best of both worlds to have individual coffee makers ;) If you have time, Amazon is a good source for those pods :surfweb:

Finishing up packing for our departure to POR on Wednesday. I think I came up with a pretty good idea to build excitement for the Royal Rooms we booked when we get to the resort.

I researched how many "hidden mickeys" that are in the Royal Rooms on the internet. It says around 10. I then made little cards that say "The first one to find 10 hidden mickeys in our Royal Room gets a prize." They have to write down the location of the hidden mickey. I have kids traveling with me ages 15, 12, 11, and 9.

See you all at POR on the 19th!:banana::banana:

Question: If you stay in a Royal Room, is there an off switch on the headboard? My youngest niece likes the looks of the rooms, but I'm hoping that headboard shuts off somehow.

Also, if we needed to be close to a bus stop would you try to be placed by the East or South depot? That is one thing my sister requests during our trips, to be fairly close to a bus stop.

The fireworks on the headboard have a special button that you push. They go on for about a minute and shut off automatically. We had a RR in the center of Parterre Place and used the South depot. We would walk over the bridge, get coffee at Riverside Mill, and head over to the depot.

kinda of bummed that we aren't going to be able to use our FastPass+. The end of the trial period is 9/24 which is our first day at the parks and we are going to AK. (sunday we won't arrive until around 7:30) and there is no way I'm going to try to rearrange ADRs and all that. oh well. too bad they aren't transferable to someone who could use them.

Getting so anxious, I wont be able to sleep tonight!!!! Or tomorrow night!!!!
I hope we can get ground floor in Alligator Bayou.....don't care where its located in the section. How much extra is it per night if we want a garden view, if they don't offer it as a free upgrade? I also may inquire about the Royal Suites, I hear they have plenty left available, so maybe it wont be much more to stay in those rooms.

Either way, sooooooooo excited!!!!

Garden view is $10 more per night than standard view; Royal rooms (and they're rooms, not suites) are $30 more for a standard view. Also, Royal rooms are all in Magnolia Bend, not Alligator Bayou.

I've never stayed at this resort before, but booked it this time as they had rooms that can accomadate 5 guests?? What do they supply for beds in the rooms that allow a 5 person accupancy?

There are 2 queen beds and a pull down Murphy bed for the 5th person. There is more info at the beginning of the thread.

Only 52 more sleeps until our first stay at POR!!! I will be travelling with my daughter and we have decided that we won't put in any requests. We will be happy in any room. Love reading all of the great info on this thread.

Keep in mind that the murphy bed will not accomodate an adult comfortably. It is not a fullsize bed. My niece was only 4'8" when she slept in it and she fit -- but there wasn't a lot of bed left over.
