First time at Port Orleans - Check In Tomorrow...

:dancer: :dancer: party: party: :jumping1: :jumping1: party: party: :dancer: :dancer:

All are welcome to join us at Ole Man Island to celebrate.

There are so many great tips here on this site and the link to the unofficial POR site, BUT I have not been able to see who Andre is nor how he is sooo helpful/knowledgable? I very much appreciate all of the great info for POR - and this site and website were the only reasons why we chose POR Dec 10-19th.

Okay I haven't gone through this entire thread but can anyone give me a hand? I'm looking to stay here after deciding against CBR. Can anyone tell me what a "standard view" room looks like? Not the view but the actual room...the most basic room you can book. I'm trying to match up the photos to the rooms/areas and I'm so confused! I really love the rooms in Magnolia bend (the ones with the teal-ish comforter)

All the rooms are the same size and layout, with the exception of king rooms, which only have the one bed, and Alligator Bayou has the murphy beds.
Other than view, decor, and location, the rooms are alike.

Okay if I chose this first option I'd get one of the above described rooms and not an alligator bayou room?

That description fits a standard room in both the Mansions of Magnolia Bend, and the Alligator Bayou buildings.
Depending on the size of your party, and room availability, you could be in Alligator Bayou. You will notice it states that some of the rooms have the trundle bed, but that is outdated, because during the recent refurb, the trundles were replaced with murphy beds. There are some preferred rooms in Alligator Bayou, and some in Magnolia Bend. All the royal rooms are in Magnolia Bend, in Oak Manor, and Partierre Place.
Several AB buildings, such as 14, and 18 are preffered buildings.
If you want to be in the mansions, you can always ask at check in.

ah okay, still a bit confused but I think I can sort it out. I appreciate the help, we've only ever stayed at the values so there's not really a difference in rooms there! Thanks for the help!

Maybe this will help. If the wall paper, bed linen, and furniture were all the same style, you could be blind folded, put into a room, and not know which section you were in. The room layout is exactly the same.
They both have either queen beds, or in some cases a king, and the murphy bed is part of the dresser. Same size and layout of the bathroom, same number of steps from the door to the dressing / bathroom area.

yeah I got that part. I mean, I don't really care which room we're in because the entire place is gorgeous I just really love teal :rotfl:

Wait, there are preferred rooms in Magnolia Bend? I thought the preferred was only in Alligator Bayou

Hey everyone had a busy period where it prevented me from dropping by. Anything new? Andre still there?

We had Bldg 14, second floor, corner room in 2007. Here's a pic of the view.... the food court is off to your right down that sidewalk.

Ahhh....thanks!! I meant to walk over there and look at the view from building 14 when we were there in March and I forgot...we requested building 38 because we wanted refurbed rooms.

Did you miss the storm we had Andre?

Yeah, we had the storm on the way from the airport to the resort. Seemed to have gone by the time we were ready for a swim in the evening though. Today's storm I saw coming, and we just made it back to the MK bus stop about 30 seconds before the heavens opened (we were planning to leave around 1-2pm anyway).

Have a great time Andre! I hope the weather cooperates for you!

I'd love to see pics of that river view from building 14. For some reason, I can't picture what that building faces except maybe the back of the food court? :confused3 I'm curious!

I'm streaming a live video feed of the view during the daytime on Eyes-on-Ears feed 1 (not sure if we're allowed to post links to there yet; there was a lot of silliness about names from some people when that site was set up, but I don't want to go into it here though in case the silliness returns). Just Google "Eyes on Ears" anyway.

It sounds magical!!!! We will be there Tuesday I have requested AB building 16 or Magnolia Terrace, we didnt upgrade so I hope this will work! I will have to keep my eye out for you

If anyone is around on Thursday 23rd Aug, we've got a meal at Boatwrights booked at 7pm, and after that I'll be in the River Roost Lounge should anyone want to pop over and say hi.

Do I need to double check before we go to make sure that everything is good for the royal room?

Nope, if you booked a Royal Room that's what you should get.

I spent a good portion of the night sick:sick:. I won't go into details but it was truly awful. Got some messages from Andre but haven't met up yet. I'll update you all soon, going to rest and freshen up. :)

Sorry about your bug, hope you're feeling better now. I hope we manage to meet up soon, I'll text you tomorow.

Can anyone tell me what a "standard view" room looks like? Not the view but the actual room...

The room categories all relate to the location and view, not to the internal decor. All of the mansion buildings, from Standard to River View, look exactly the same inside. Same with the Alligator Bayou Rooms, all the same as each other.

Hey everyone had a busy period where it prevented me from dropping by. Anything new? Andre still there?

Just got here, staying until 29 Aug.

Wait, there are preferred rooms in Magnolia Bend? I thought the preferred was only in Alligator Bayou

No, preferred locations are in AB buildings 14, 15, 18 and 27 only. No mansion building rooms are Preferred category.

Andre

We are checking in 25th-Sept 2nd! Can't wait for our first POR stay, booked garden view with FD!

Okay after more reading and your helpful comments I think I've got it figured out! Just going to choose the "standard view" and since there will be two of us, I'll take my chances :goodvibes The AB just doesn't seem like our thing but after looking at more photos and reading more of this thread I think this is the place for us. We've never stayed at a moderate and my husband was reluctant to come (He likes it, he'd just rather pay to go to a new location and not WDW so I lured him in with me paying for 98% of it! :lmao:) so I really want something with Disney Magic but not the characters plastered everywhere. I feel like this'll be the place! Regardless we'll be at The World so it'll be an awesome time!

Have fun Andre! :cool1::dance3:party:

Andre is correct, and I misspoke. I was intending to convey that there are additional booking catagories besides standard that are available in both sections, meaning the Royal rooms, garden view, water view, and river view, some of which are in AB, and some of which are in MB.

Book standard, and call them to add the Magnolia Bend to your requests. Also, send a fax a few days before you arrive with the same request, and hopefully you'll get your teal comforter. :) You can be really specific and tell them you would like building 80 or building 85.

Well Andre I hope your having fun! Where did you end up on POR, room wise?

Dude, you gotta go back a few pages, http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=45847505&postcount=2630.

Well we checked in at POR around 4pm this aftenoon, only a few people in line and very helpful CM at the desk - they were coming out to the line to bring people over to the desks, which is a nice new touch. The lobby has just had some lovely small chairs added around the TV, specially for the kids, in matching colours to the new carpet, really cute.

We'd booked river view, and we've got a lovely pixie-dusted corner room on the groud floor in building 14. Gorgeous view.

Haven't done much, just unpacked, got a bite to eat at the food court and had a swim this evening. Probably going to MK tomorrow.

Andre
