The main reason why we booked POR is for the Royal Guest Room. I hope for my wife and daughter it is beautiful.

Do I need to double check before we go to make sure that everything is good for the royal room?

Hi! Did you enjoy the Royal room? What's it worth the diff in price? We are currently booked in one, but, I keep thinking we should just book a preferred room.

:confused3

I really liked the Royal Room, I wanted to stay in one when I saw the pictures Andre posted. If you book a preferred room, you will be in AB, it is a lovely section too but the interior is not the royal room.

The royal room headboards with the fireworks, the royal looking curtains, the golden fixtures in the bathroom, it was just all so pretty. We booked for the end of our trip to relax and it was easy to do in such lovely surroundings :goodvibes

If I go back, I would probably want to try AB but for reasons stated above, I wanted to try the Royal Room first. Good luck deciding what you want to do

I'd love to see pics of that river view from building 14. For some reason, I can't picture what that building faces except maybe the back of the food court?
We had Bldg 14, second floor, corner room in 2007. Here's a pic of the view.... the food court is off to your right down that sidewalk.

Quick question (and sorry if I missed it if it's already been answered, I swear I skimmed the thread ;)):

Is Oak Manor & Parterre Place ALL Royal Rooms? Or could I get a "regular" (well, garden view) room in one of those buildings? I definitely leaning toward Magnolia Bend over Alligator Bayou based on theming but I don't know if I want to spend the extra $$$ on a Royal.

Oak Manor & Parterre Place *IS* ALL Royal Rooms. No other rooms exist in those 2 buildings.

Ahh, thanks. I'm trying to gauge how far of a walk it really is to get to the buses or food, etc.

On the map, there are 4 depots - are those all bus depots to go to the parks, or? If I go with Magnolia Terrace or Acadian House, am I going to be seriously trekking?

Hi, everyone! My DH, DD/DS6 and I are excited to go on our first Disney trip in March 2013! Originally I had planned to go to the new AoA resort but the more I researched the more I was convinced to book POR. After reading this thread I know I made the right choice. Even though my twins might not fully appreciate the beautiful scenery of POR, I know when they've rocketed down the pool slide for the 387th time they will be glad I made this choice!

We just returned from a stay at POR. We stayed in a room in the Magnolia Terrace building. We had a room with a king bed. The room was beautiful. We truly enjoyed it!

We just returned from POR and stayed in a Royal room in Parterre Place. The walk from our room to the main bus stop at the front of the resort was about 5 minutes. It's a straight shot over the bridge, walk by the airline resort check in and luggage storage, right to the bus. The walk to the food court was quick as well - over the bridge, make a right and follow the path.

I loved our room and the location.

One day my DD and I decided to get off the bus at the bus stop near Magnolia....it was a LOOOOOONNNGGGG walk to our room. The main stop was much, much quicker.

Yep, those are all bus stops for going to the parks.

Greetings from POR!!! We arrived yesterday. Magical Express and check in was quick and we received my room requests and some pixie dust! I had booked a garden view Royal Room and we were upgraded to a river view in the center of the building. We are on the 3rd floor right next to the elevator. We have a straight on view all the way down the walkway of the fountain and river. Location is very convenient to the parking lot and the garden walkway to the main buildings. Getting around the resort has been easy, walking to the main building has only been a couple of minutes from Parterre Place. Kids are having a blast. They are so excited to be in the RR and call Parterre our home. Room is clean and in good condition. Mousekeeping left some cute towel designs today and we got cards and pins for our celebrations from the resort. We stayed at the resort yesterday and did a carriage ride, then dinner at Boatwright's and caught a little of YeeHa Bob's show. We left early as we were all beat from having been up early for our flight. Unfortunately, I had a rough night, something did not agree with me and I spent a good portion of the night sick:sick:. I won't go into details but it was truly awful. I almost abandoned our morning plans and was going to let DH take the kids to HS today on his own. I felt bad about missing out so I managed to pull it together and bounce back. We had breakfast at Hollywood and Vine before park opening. Breakfast was very good, wish I was able to eat more. I had an apple cinnamon danish, cantaloupe, Mickey waffle with strawberries, and egg/hash brown bake. Kids LOVED the characters, especially DS. They came around numerous times for pics and autographs. We then did Toy Story twice, standby and FP. Then DH and DS did RNR while I browsed stores with DD (she was too short to ride.) Kids then had Jedi Training, we did Star Tours and headed to lunch at Pizza Planet just as the afternoon rain rolled in. Lunch was very good as well, nice to rest and cool off while it downpoured. We then hit Muppetvision, shopped in the store across from Muppets and headed out. Back at the resort now. DH and kids are swimming at the quiet pool. Going to dinner at TRex and hanging out at DTD tonight. Got some messages from Andre but haven't met up yet. I'll update you all soon, going to rest and freshen up. :)

I had a room in Acadian House and then in Magnolia Terrace and I didn't find the walk too bad. We took our time too, because my friend has a sore hip AND had a broken food (on the other leg!) It was a lovely walk to/from the main areas. We were really close to the bus stops in each building as well.

No, not from Magnolia -- we're here now and location is perfect. We are on the backside close to the middle inside. It's super quick over the bridge (which is right there) to main pool/foodcourt area/boat. Then there is a quiet pool and laundry right on the side. Then right out the back is the East bus stop. Love this place. Not to be a brat or anything, but I've been to CBR and CSR and this place rocks them all. It's POR for us next time too.

we stayed in a royal room in march and were in oak manor and were really close to the east depot. we've also stayed in building 15 in AB which was a preferred room and liked them both. the royal room was a lot of fun.

Did you miss the storm we had Andre? My nephew & I were actually in the pool watching my daughter in the hula hoop contest and the loudest ever crack of lightening came out of nowhere! I never moved so fast in my life. lol

The staff in the lobby has been quite helpful and one even walked the kids over to show them where the mailbox was when they went up to ask and another time a CM sought my daughter out to exchange pins.
I am hoping for good weather tomorrow because we have had a bit of bad luck with hitting the pool. If the normal FL afternoon rain was just rain it would be doable but there has been a pattern of thunder, lightening and torrential rain that eventually passes but always seems to be during scheduled pool time. lol

Same thing here -- my kids were in the quiet pool. That place sure cleared out fast!!! We waited it out at the room and then when out for a very pleasant night at DHS. One good thing about the rain pattern is that it has certainly kept the temperatures much more comfortable than usual. Also, crowds seem a little less. --- but that could be the one benefit of the week that wasn't offered free dining.

We will be at POR in one week :yay: and will be one night in a royal room and the rest of the trip in a preferred room so I'll let you know what we think of both. I've requested ground floor because I recently had foot surgery and have rented a ECV so I had it noted on my room request. I'm not worried because they've always been great when we've had someone injured. I am not doing online check in because I did not have a good experience using it before. I'd rather wait for a better room then take the first available.

Can't wait to see the new rooms!

Yes, please!! :thumbsup2

Yikes.....no time to be sick while on vacation. I'm hoping (and it seems like) it's a 24 hour bug? I'm sure you will be 100% after a good night's rest. Anxious to hear more as your week goes on! Incidently, I know my 45 yo husband would love the Jedi training. hahahahahahaha (i know, it's only for kids, right)?

Thank you!!

Wow, I'm really glad I asked the question here. I just got off the phone with Disney and they made a mistake. When I added a day to our booking in April, it was mistakenly changed from preferred to standard. I still don't know how we ended up with garden on our documents. Now, here's the bad news.

They have no preferred availability during our stay. When I reminded her that we booked this and paid the preferred rate in Nov 2011, she just said "sorry, they may be able to help you when you check in". This feels unacceptable to me. Any advice on where to go from here?

I would call back, explain a mistake was made, and if that CM cannot help you, ask for a manager. You will not be able to talk to the resort directly till you get there, and, honestly, I wouldn't rely on that.
Their mistake...they fix it.
Did you get discounted the difference, or are you paying the higher price for standard?
