Hey Webstah, you can always ask at the check in, " hey do you all happen to have any good rooms with a view left?" the worse thing they can say is no not really.

I guess I'm lost. I wasn't asking about upgrades. We always book regular, and take what they give us. As long as we're there, we aren't concerned about a little walking.
Plus, we usually go with another family, and request connecting rooms, which generally puts us in the boonies because they're the first connecting rooms opened when we check in.

Arriving Next week: Has anyone been placed in a RR when they did not buy one? We are Garden view and I have requested The other mansions and plan on sending a fax. However, a RR would be Disasterous to us as we have 2 boys!!!

2nd - Do I need to pack towels at all? I'm assuming the main pool has towels there??? Will I be okay bringing room towels to quiet pools, and getting new ones? I know this sounds like a silly question, but do you just round up any maid you see, leave a note, or call someone if you need more for that purpose? Or do they leave sufficient amount for all your needs? I'm trying not to go pack happy.

3rd - Does the store there sell items like Children's Tylenol?

Thanks!

No need to drag towels along. we are a big family, and we called to request towels our first night because we wanted pool towels and showers, and I asked for 8 towels and they brought them immediately.
Then they made sure they left extra towels all week. they are happy to accommodate you!

Oops. I am so used to people looking to get upgraded my bad! Thanks for pointing that out....

No prob! I figured that's what happened since free upgrade questions are so frequent on the boards.

BTW, can anyone help me out with the swim vest questions?

Don't know if it will completely help, but there were swim vests at all the value I have stayed at before, and I bet there are a bunch at POR ;)

Sorry cant be more help

Tell you what I'll call the numbers I have and ask tomorrow for you.

I think I'll either just pack 2 smaller towels or I like the idea of just grabbing towels at the main pool if we're running short due to taking them to quiet pools. ( My kids like the main pools, but actually prefer the quiet pools more times).
.

You definitely don''t need to bring towels! When we knew that we were going to a quiet pool, we would grab towels from the main pool when we would go to the food court. We also used our room towels and called housekeeping and honestly as the PP said, within 20 minutes we had more towels. I left a note one day requesting extra towels for the pool and we had them every day.

There is an assortment of children's meds in the gift shop. POR gift shop is really very thorough. :thumbsup2

I wish I could remember about the life vests. My youngest is 11 now but I feel certain we got vests years back. Hopefully someone will be able to help soon. :upsidedow

Sorry, I thought I read an answer on that. You can get swim vests from the marina, which you can hang on to for the duration of your stay. Don't forget to return them before you leave though, or you'll be charged.

Thanks for the replies about the vests. I just wanted to make sure they had decent ones available so I didn't have to pack our own.

Here now checked in Saturday. 21 hour drive straight through! We were tired but excited to be here. I had sent a fax with requests for AB 14 Garden view facing the food court. She told me we were upgraded to meet the requests and received room 1415 which is first floor river view and less than a minute walk to Riverside Mill!!! We did have a preferred room booking.

This place is awesome! Kids have had a great time exploring the resort. Hard to believe but we still have not been into a pool. Which is really odd for my family. But I'm sure we'll get there today.

Thanks for all the great advice and information about POR! So far it's been great here.

Can vests be used on the slide? I thought I had read somewhere that they couldn't, but figured I would get the definitive answer here.

They were allowed at both CSR and CBR. This is our first stay at POR so I can't say with certainty, but I would assume they would have the same policy as the other moderate resorts.

Wow, great room! I've got a River View booked, and requested AB for the extra bed. Checking in on Thursday 16th, so if we luck out too and get building 14 then we'll be neighbours! (depending on how long you are staying anyway).

HI everyone! We are not going back until Jan 2014 BUT I love to plan so here I am. We always want to try new resorts and we were thinking about Boardwalk for our next trip, but I REALLY have a hard time spending almost $400/night for a room to sleep in. I know you get all the extra fluff with deluxe but we go during value season and there are never crowded buses or lines. And really whats a 10min ride to a park, nothing in the grand scheme of things.

The deciding factor this trip has to be the BED. My husband hurt his back at work and really needs something comfy. It doesn't have to be pillow-top but our last trip was CBR and the old double beds killed him by mid-week.

Are the new beds at POR comfy?? I know they are queens so that helps alot. And I love the theme of the royal rooms! My girls and I would love princess "suites"

Thanks!

Found out that the vest can be borrowed from the marina but can not be used on the slides. I believe they have to be back by the end of the day also.

We just returned home from another great stay at POR. :dance3: We booked a preferred building & got 14 parking lot view, which was fine because it was easy to get to our car. We brought an air mattress (family of 5) & it did fit between the bed closest to the door & the door fine. The pull down bed is pretty short for our needs . My 13 year old DS slept on it (he is 5 feet) & his feet dangled off a bit but he curls up to sleep so he was fine & he no complaints.

The foodcourt was great & never had a hard time finding a seat. We had the make your own salad, make your own pasta, chicken nuggets, & bounty platter at breakfast among other items & all were fresh & tasty. We got the mugs which were also a good choice.

Bob Jackson was amazing as usual. We watched him play Rapsidy in Blue while on a "break" one night...amazing. His show is so much fun.

Mousekeeping was non existent. We tipped $1 pp ($5 a day) for the first 4 days leaving a note for extra towels & an extra blanket. The request was ignored so we stopped tipping. No soaps, 1 roll of tp, & & 4 towels daily for 5 people. :confused3 We had to call for extra towels almost every night.

The pool was refreshing & the folks around us were very friendly so it was nice chatting to people from all around.

I'll have some pictures up soon.

I thought the new beds were very comfortable. Some might describe them as firm maybe? I am kind of picky because I have sleep issues and I slept well. Hope this helps for what it's worth. We like to do a split stay when we want to visit a deluxe. I feel the same way you do about the money so I visit a deluxe for 2 or 3 nights and then spend the rest of our time at POR. We love POR even after visiting deluxes.
