Just got here today and in a Royal room and the wireless Internet isnt working in the room, the fridge was not working either and one of the trash cans in the room had someone's breakfast trash still in it. Seriously?

I got a great room though on a corner looking at the water and gardens. I swear the maps show a walkway bridge fom our building to the food court area that doesn't exist.

Wow, I am marveled. What did they do for you? That is tardiness about the trash can. Wireless internet not working well, that could be a problem for some. I have a mobile hotspot though so if its not working when I get there then I have a back up.

We are here now too and wifi can be spotty at times. I have had to reboot the iPad several times to reconnect. But it is working for the most part. Just drops me now and again.

What did they do for me? I got a different fridge. I called about the Internet and they "bumped up to level 2" the problem cause she could see it wasn't working like it should. I'm not worried about the trash can.

I mostly want the Internet to work. We were at POFQ in December and it worked beautifully.

Are you in Parterre Place?

I'm in the other one which is Oak Manor. Back in the room and the internet is still spotty. The room is lovely and even my boys are ok with it as it isn't too girly. Food was good at the food court. Fridge is cold. I'll survive....somehow....lol. :lmao:

what do you think of the new lobby? I know its not quite done yet.

And be sure to look at the courtyard. The Royal banners, the lighted fountain, the topiary trees, faces in the trees.

Glad to see they are ok with it. But keep us up to date if anything else needs to be taken care of. Hope the rest of your stay goes problem free.

I hope to get the Oak Manor also. Hope the internet is better by then. We just put down the advance deposit on our room RGR RV Hoping to have a second floor corner one also. We have never been so lucky to have that, maybe this time??? We shall see. I know I cant wait to see the improvements.

My son noticed the trees before me! The fountain is beautiful at night and the grounds are more lush than photos make it appear. Honestly the mansion side never appealed to me because it looked so stark (barren) but it is really nicely done. I'm on this side rather than AB cause I wanted to try the Royal rooms out.

The lobby looks very nice - honestly I can't remember it from our previous stay so long ago. I don't know how they changed it.

I had a garden view room paid for and my room faces the interior but is close to the river there so you can see both clearly. I don't know how I got so lucky either! I didn't make any requests. Funny cause my only other stay at POR they gave us a corner!

Why do I see agrees line indicating a walkway over the water to the lobby between Parterre and Oak Manor? Like where the quiet pool is? There isn't a bridge there. The closest bridge over is the one that goes through the main pool. I thought those green lines meant bridges and the other 2lines are bridges? Am I looking at it wrong or did they remove one or?:upsidedow

Andre, Selket is currently at POR. I also wonder about what appears to be a bridge on the resort layout map crossing river from between Parterre & Oak Manors to the Lobby, Food Court etc. Can you confirm if that is now gone? Thanks.

So its confirmed we are there (March 1st - March 9th). Just because it is off peak and saved a lot of money doing so. But we finially get to stay in RGR RV room!!! Anybody else have overlapping dates?

Those were the dates I really want to go but DD really cant missed too much school with all of her learning disabilities :-( So we had to go during winter break.

The bridge is still there, unless they've knocked it down very recently! It's just between Oak and Parterre (roughly aligned with the location of the quiet pool) and it leads over to the front of the main building. I'd have said it was kinda hard to miss to be honest:

If it's gone, I've love to see a photo of the gap...

There are five river bridges at Port Orleans in all: one road & foot bridge located between the two resorts, one footbridge from Oak/Parterre to the main building, and three footbridges over to Ol' Man Island (one from the food court, one from between Acadian and Magnolia, and one leading to the middle of Alligator Bayou).

That all sounds lovely!!! I am SO SO SO excited :teeth: My parents will love it too ..... they will be celebrating their 42nd wedding anniversary  and POR will be perfect!

Ugh .... so long to wait ... so in the meantime I shall dance :cool1:

Yeah I can agree with the missing school time. But the teachers at our lil one's school actually encourage us to take time off and go have family time. It also helps that she never misses much school time throughout the school year.

I'm an idiot. The bridge is there - it just looks on the map like it should be closer!:rotfl: All the bridges are there. I'm just incredibly lazy apparently!

I'm staying in a Royal Room at the end of this month. As I am preparing my folder today, I was trying to find the location of the staircases in both Oak Manor and Parterre Place. I looked at Andre's website and am a faithful follower of this thread for the last 2 years. I believe that there is only 1 set of elevators located in the middle of each building, but where are the staircases? We've stayed here before, but at ground level. This time, I want to be prepared with my maps at check in!!

LOL, good to hear it. I was worrying that the storms last week were even worse than everyone said...

Correct, one set of elevators in the middle of each mansion building, but there are also stairways scattered around all over - including near to the riverside pathways which give quick and easy access for when you are coming back from the food court, pool, etc. See my photo gallery page for some ideas.

DBF and I are staying at Port Orleans Riverside for one night only before we move offsite. We thought it would be fun to stay on property for at least one night. I haven't stayed at POR since it was Dixie Landings! Basically, if you were at POR for one night only, what would you defintely want to do? Basically the only thing that we have planned is to take the ferry to DTD in the evening. Last time I was at POR I was a little girl, so I'm not sure what the bar/lounge situation is. Is there one? Is it good? What else would you recommend?? :confused3

I can't believe where the time has gone, but five years ago today the very first files were served out from the fledgling www.portorleans.org domain. It wasn't a full site at that point, just a collection of a couple of resort maps and a few pictures I think.

I first registered the actual name on 22 June 2007, and I noticed the timing because I've just this week paid the annual server hosting invoice for the coming year (all donations via the homepage gratefully received... LOL).

The first online post where I referred to anything from the site was on 1 July 2007 (here, on a UK-based site). A proper 'menu-based' site was still a few months away (26 Oct 2007) but I think I shall count 1st July as the site's official birthday for now.

And now, five years later, the site gets around 1.5 million page hits a year. How time flies when you're having fun!

Thanks for everyone's support, and I hope the site has proved informative and useful.
