What would be the best building(s) to request in order to be close to a bus stop? If possible, we would like a refurbished room but being close to the bus stop is the top priority. We really are not too worried about being near the main building since we do not plan to go there very much.

If you're not worried about main building access (which would be 14/15 for the South bus depot) then take a look at the map in the first post which shows you the locations of all the bus stops in relation to the buildings. www.portorleans.org/rehab.php has the current refurbishment schedule for the rest of Alligator Bayou listed (will all be done by August).

Are the beds high enough to put your luggage under them?

No, sadly they are all on boxed-in bases now, so you can't put anything underneath. I guess it makes keeping the rooms clean easier for mousekeeping.

Alligator Bayou building 16 re-opened today with all new refurbished rooms, and next Friday (11 May) buildings 17 and 24 are also due for completion.

After that will come building 15, which is due to re-open on 25 May.

For full details and the rest of the projected schedule, please see www.portorleans.org/rehab.php.

Can someone that stayed there recently confirm if they have regular coffee makers in the rooms or pod coffee makers? We are staying in the mansions I don't know if that makes a difference.

Just as a quick update, all of the guest rooms at both POR and POFQ should now feature the new Cuisinart dual-pod coffee makers, which have gradually replaced the old 4-cup filter machines over the past month or so.

The new units can make two cups of coffee simultaneously, using coffee pods which are inserted into trays through which hot water is passed. Free pods are supplied, which will be replenished daily by housekeeping.

We are leaving for the airport first thing in the morning heading to POR! We'll be flying out of Jackson MS. I can't wait to see the old homestead! We'll take lots of photos. We'll be there May 5th through May 13th.

Look out Riverside.. the bayou girls are coming home!:dance3:

We are heading to POR Oct 23-26. I cannot wait! I haven't been to WDW since 1989 and this is my first time staying on property. We will be celebrating our daughter's first trip to WDW as well as her (and my) birthday! Sounds like we picked a great place with POR as our first experience.

There is NOTHING like staying on site! You are going to have a great time!

Kinda bummed, have to delay our vacation now to DW till next year, DS has had some medical issues come up that are going to prevent us from going this year. But, his health is more important to get him better so to enjoy when we do get to go. The bright side is next year won't have to worry about any refurbishments going on when we go.:)

So sorry to hear that, I hope he gets better soon and will then have a fabulous WDW vacation to look forward to next year.

Checked in last night to RR in Oak Manor, garden view on parking lot side of building. First, this place is awesome. Second, a lot of the reviews of POR talk about hiw spread out this place is. It doesnt seem that bad. From our room to general store, 3 minutes and 22 seconds with 2 kids and a stroller!

Thanks for that update. Sounds like the room we will have in less than 3 weeks. :cool1: You have a garden view room, what do you see when you come out of your room?

It is a little grassy/courtyard area. We are on the opposite side of the bldg from the river. Also very close to where the nightly movies are shown. FYI we have found the main bus stop to be just as if not more convenient than the one for our building and it is the first stop.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts about DS. Haven't got to tell him yet, waiting till school gets out and we have scheduled surgery to let him know so he won't worry about surgery and not getting to go. Told him that even if something comes up and we can't go this year, we can always go next year.

Will just keep looking forward to next year and no REFUBS!!!!!!!!:cool1:

Also will enjoy listening to everyone else's fun times.:thumbsup2

Checking in 2 weeks from today! Can't wait to return home to Riverside! It's been 4 years since we last stayed there...much too long! Soooo not ready yet, but will make it happen along with a million kids activities between now and then. pixiedust:

Hi everyone! Are towels available at all the pools at POR or just the main? Are they self serve, or is there an attendant present? Lastly, are they available all the time or just during certain hours? Thanks so much! Can't wait to be there in just over a month!

I'm so sorry but yeah his health is more important. I wish him a speedy recovery!:grouphug:

the towels are only at the main pool as far as I could tell. Never saw any at the quiet pool. They are self-serve & available at all times. I did see return bins at the quiet pools which I thought was weird...if there are return bins shouldnt there be towel bins too:confused3

Will a full or queen air mattress fit in the refurbished rooms at POR? Teenage DD and DS obviously will not sleep in same bed.
