Does anyone know if they sell bottles of rum at POR? My wife and I like to have a mixed drink as we wind down our evening, and the last couple of years we've brought a bottle of rum with us. I noticed at POP last year that they sell bottles in the gift shop. Anyone know if POR does the same? Would be nice to save us from packing one.

I noticed they do sell liquor at the gift shop behind the counter. I just did not look to see what kind they had. I brought my own.

We are heading to POR in 2 weeks ! Can't wait :yay:

Can someone that stayed there recently confirm if they have regular coffee makers in the rooms or pod coffee makers? We are staying in the mansions I don't know if that makes a difference.

If they are pod type, do Keurig pods fit in the machine?

Getting so excited about our stay this July. My question is regarding room requests. I have booked a royal room. My mother is in her 80's and has a walker but no HA rooms were available. I think I will ask for Oak Mansion but am wondering if I should request a ground floor room or one near an elevator. We have a garden view if that makes a difference.

TIA,

K in SA

We are leaving tonight for POR and going to try and check-in about 8-10 tomorrow morning. We are playing with the thought of leaving in a couple hours and getting there any earlier. Is there anyway we could get checked in or get somewhere to rest at 5-7 am at the resort or around?

You can check in but getting into room is unlikely before I'd say 10a. You can veg in lounge area in chairs etc.

They are pod style, but not k-cups. They are like little filters with the coffee inside if that makes sense. They are Cuisenart and will make 2 cups at a time--side by side.

We arrived 2 weeks ago around 9:30am and our room was ready. I'm sure you could check in between 5-7am, but you might not get in a room. The rocking chairs on the back porch of the lobby would be a great place to relax for awhile if it's nice out. Or if you have kids, there are little rocking chairs with cartoons in the lobby for them and you could crash on the couch!

I thought I saw this SOMEWHERE, but I can't find it now. Can anyone tell me if the new Murphy Beds might be able to accommodate a 9 year old girl of average height?

My 9 year old son and my 11 year old daughter both slept on the murphy bed. They are plenty big. I actually laid down on it and had room, my feet did hang of a little bit. They are so much better than the old trundles.

Last time we were there (end of April of 2011) we got there around 7:00 am and our room was ready. I don't think u can check in before then.

I can't believe that this time next week, I'll be settling into my POR room after checking in during the afternoon and spending an evening at DTD.

I think the earliest they can officially check people in for a new day is 6am, but I could be wrong about that.

If there are any rooms free then (i.e. the resort is not 100% full) then the Ready Room system should allow them to allocate you a room if you're not too fussy about where it is located. But don't bank on it at that time of the morning!

Hi everyone. This is my first official DIS post, so please be gentle. :flower3: I stalked the DISboards last year while planning our first family trip to Disneyworld (we stayed in POR Alligator Bayou), and I've been a frequent visitor to this thread and Andre's website while planning our return trip. Thank you to everyone who's contributed to this thread! We are very excited to be leaving next Friday for 8 nights in a RR!

I have looked everywhere, but I still have one unanswered question about our upcoming stay. Is there a freezer compartment in the refrigerators in the new Royal Rooms? Specifically, is the freezer compartment such that it would freeze ice cubes (or in my case, milk)? I am still nursing our infant son, and since I'm a working mom, I have to pump every single morning to maintain my supply of frozen milk. Ideally, while on vacation, I would pump and freeze the milk each morning, then transport the frozen milk back home (we are driving about 9 hours) on ice for later use. If there is not a freezer compartment in the basic in-room refrigerator, does anyone know if I can get one moved into the room?

I don't recall there being a freezer in fridges, personal hang up with me also. YOu maybe able to get one but I honestly don't know how without buying one as even old rentals didn't have freezer compartment.
One thing you could look into is see if one of the fridge swaps from POP or all stars still has their fridge and could Loan it to you for your stay, since values are getting fridges in rooms now. Sorry I couldn't offer more assist.

Yes, they sell Bacardi white rum (clear) in .375ml bottles for $13. They had a pretty good selection of liquor in the gift shop, but that was the only rum available.

Call and request one as a medical necessity, you should have a good chance of receiving since you need one for medical purposes. We received one at ASMo before they were included. I wasn't charged because I was using it to store breast milk.

We returned from our trip last Thursday and had a great time. POR was beautiful and we would return in a heartbeat.

The resort honored my room request (#38), so we stayed in a refurbished room. It was a nice room but a little tight for our family of 5 (kids 11,9,and 6). My wife thought I was crazy, but I took some photos of the drawers under the murphy bed. I saw that people were asking about them before I left. Did someone already post them? If not, I can post them soon.

We used all available space for clothes. The kids each took one drawer under the murphy bed and the adults used the space above the closet and all hangers (we requested 10 addl hangers after we arrived). We also cleared out the drawer between the queen beds and used the bottom of the coffee maker stand. It worked, but we needed to "organize" everytime we returned to the room..the kids throw clothes everywhere.

I have some pool pics showing spring break mid-afternoon crowds that I will post soon. I'm still getting caught up at work...

I know with the Kuerig they make a little filter that snaps in for regular ground coffee. You simply pop it out and insert the K cups.

The serious coffee drinkers need to do some research:lmao:
