Have a safe trip! Enjoy NY, are you going into the city? I used to live in CT right outside NY. Miss going into the city for shows, shopping, and dining. We check in on the 16th as well, perhaps we'll see you around on arrival day. We're staying at POR that day. Have a carriage ride at 6, dinner at Boatwright's at 6:30, and catching Bob after.

We're headed to New York on Sunday for a few days, then will be at POR from Thursday 16 August for 13 days.

Andre

I guess that means you'll be able to do some super shots there then? Hope you have a great time at both places.

Have a great trip Andre you have some great supporters on this thread. With all you do on your web site the Dis and after chatting with you in the box, I would love to meet you and shake your hand. Keep an eye open for my LGMH. I arrive in Orlando on the 19th but don't get to POR until the 27th.

Thanks, and to everyone else who's commented also. I'd love to meet up with some of the folks here. At the moment, we have specific resort plans for a meal at Boatwright's at 7pm on Thursday 24rd August, so will most likely be around the resort for a little while before then and may also go over to the bar afterwards. I'll also be spending some time around the resort getting pics/etc, but we've not planned our specific parks dates/etc very specifically as yet.

Feel free to leave me a voicemail via the front desk ("Andre Willey" - the username is a giveaway isn't it?). We check out on the 29th, so I'm sure it'll be possible to work out somewhere to meet up during the couple of days we overlap Stan.

I'll be easy to spot, I'll be the one wearing a Mickey Mouse T-shirt. ;)

Andre

If you all manage to organize a meet, take lots of pics and post them when you get back! It would be fun for the rest of us to see! Hope it all works out for you!

Sweet! Originally had reservations for SoG June 1-11 2013. Preferred POR as it is where we stayed when the kids were 7 & 9, but now that they will be 19 and 21 we simply can't fit into a single room at POR. But this week Disney extended the Armed Forces Salute so I was able to snag two rooms at POR for just $3000 !! My wife is going to be surprised. Going to keep her off-balance till the very end by going over to SoG first to get our park tickets. She will be totally confused when I tell her to get back in the car. Thank you Disney!

Our family of 4 (me, hubby and 2 daughters ) will be checking in at POR next week the 16th. We are staying for 6 nights. We are all so excited. :cool1:Our first trip to Disney world. :)

There is a free (app?) on facebook from under cover tourist. It give expected crowd levels at each park. (It does not do touring plans like touringplans.com.)
It is free and very helpfull.

I have to tell you I got that right before our last trip for my droid and it was amazingly accurate.

Hope to see you around POR. This is our first time there and your website really eased my worries about staying at another moderate (big problems on previous stay at different mod.) Thanks for the great info.
I'll keep my eyes looking for that ::MickeyMo shirt!! Shouldn't be hard to find you in that! :rotfl2:
Enjoy your trip!

There was talk of a meetup at Bob's show on the 19th. Is that still a possibility?

We're eating at Kona Cafe that night, then watching the fireworks from the Poly beach - but unless I get drawn over to EMH at the MK afterwards, we'll be back at POR by around 10-10.30pm, so plenty of time for a second-half meeting if anyone else is going to be there?

A Mickey Mouse T-shirt at Disney World!? Well that should be easy to spot. I think I saw you at MK during my last visit. On the 24th I'm checking into my second hotel of the trip next to the Convention Centre for Star Wars Celebration.

The 19th is the day we arrive and are planing to go to Disney Quest during the day then maybe off to the Poly's Capt. Cook's for a Dole Whip and to watch Wishes on the beach...

That sounds like so much fun surprising your wife! :thumbsup2 Good luck keeping that secret for that long! :rolleyes1 I don't think I could do it! :sad2:

I have been reading this thread and several others on the site and gotten lots of great information. We are a family of 5 and will be staying at POR for the first time Nov. 17-25. Currently I have a reservation for a preferred room but with the new Military room discount I can change to a water view room and save about $400. I am trying to decide whether to change or not. On previous trips we have stayed at ASM and Pop in preferred rooms and eaten breakfasts and dinners at the food courts. On this trip we will probably only eat breakfast at the food court. We will be eating lunch and dinner at the parks or other resorts. We will be using our car so being near a bus stop is not important. My kids will be 16, 11, and 6 and we will be spending most of our time in the parks. Having never been to POR I am not sure if I will be unhappy if I end up in a building far from the main area. Thank you for your responses.

We will be at POR from aug 21-28 :yay:, we stayed here a few years ago and then we started to stay at POFQ. This time we thought we would give POR another try. I do love it here but I think I will miss the size of FQ-everything is so close. We are going with friends who have never been and they aren't too keen on paying for an upgrade so we have standard rooms. I hope I'm not in the back corner.:confused3
See some of you there
I'm the crazy mother with a 19DS and a 17DS and an awesome DH:rolleyes1

Yes, please do.... All of you going soon - HAVE A GREAT TRIP!

Well hello Princess Michele and :welcome: to the Dis! We are glad that you decided to make this thread the first one you post in.

I see you are a family of five so of course you will be in AB the decision to stay in a preferred room or a water view room is completely a matter of choice. Now if it were up to me between saving $400 and walking an extra five to seven minutes a day or paying an extra $400 and spending five to seven minutes taking a beautiful walk each morning I'd pick the walk. Lets say you are going for seven days and someone says to you I'll give you $400 but you and your family have to walk ten minutes each day would you take that offer? The added bouns is you are going in November when it's not even super humid and hot in the morning.

Remember you are driving so it's only in the morning that you need to walk (when its easier) and chances are the walk from your car to the park entrance will be just as long if not longer and that will be in a parking lot and not a beautiful lush resort. Plus for $400 I could buy myself a real nice souvenir, pay for a big chunk of the car rental or take my family for an amazing dinner.

I can see why some people would prefer to be closer to the action, sleep in for a few more minutes to try and make rope drop and don't mind paying a few hundred dollars more after spending most of the day walking.

I hope this helps put it in perspective but in the end the choice is yours and your family.
