I made the risotto twice. Tastes great, but oh my good, it takes hours to stir in little amounts of liquid. It's also quite expensive to make. The deal breaker to me is standing for two hours stirring, my back was killing me.

But great video, thanks for posting it!

PS: 1 lb. of rice is a HUGE portion, i did half the recipe and still a ton

Well, I did it! We booked POR!!! We stayed in CSR in the fall and loved it, thought about heading back but wanted something to compare it to. We considered AKL but aside from the beauty of the resort I couldn't find a reason to stay (I don't think we would enjoy the restaurants and it's still buses). So after much research, this one is the one we will try! We booked a RGR for Dec. and I'm super excited to try this place out.

Thank you to all who have answered my questions and those that post all the beautiful pics and helpful info. It sold me!!

Pondering POR for our next family trip. Can anyone tell me if the bridges to 'Ol Man Island has any steps? ODS has CP and is typically on wheels for anything more than a very short walk, was wondering if the bridges would be an issue. Thx

Disney is very cognizant of the ADA federal laws and all of their resorts are very "accessible."

There are no stairs at the bridge and it is a gentle incline that conforms to the ADA code.

Also, all of the thresholds leading into the building are low.

There are stairs leading into the Food Court and into the Main Lobby at the back of the building. The HC entrance at the back is at the Restaurant and there are automatic doors available at that location for the h.c. entrance.

The front has three entrances to the building; Main Lobby; Check-in area; and Fulton's General Store. All have low thresholds and are compliant. There is one automatic door at the main lobby.

I know in general Disney is very accessable, it is one of the reasons Disney has become a favorite vacation spot. I also know that sometimes not all routes to a destination are accessable, or you may need to look around a bit to find the route that is accessable. The only time I visited POR, was before kids and long before I was cognizant of such details.

Unfortunately, I am an architect and a construction manager now for the government, so for me, it is a curse! I notice every single solitary detail, so much so that sometimes it drives my fellow traveling companions crazy.

But in this particular case, it turned out to be quite helpful!

We stayed at POR from Jan. 27 - Feb. 4 and we loved every minute of it! We were assigned to building 37 in a beautiful newly refurbished corner room. We are a family of 5 and we felt that we had plenty of space. I was able fit clothes for two of my boys into the 3 drawers under the murphy bed and used the shelves next to the refrigerator for my DS13 clothes. DH and I simply lived out of our suitcases which was not a big deal to us. My DS13 chose to sleep on the murphy bed every night...it was a bit small for him but he really wanted his own bed. He said he was quite comfortable. The new queen beds were very comfortable as well. The walk to the dining hall was not that bad and the scenery along the way is beautiful. I spent one afternoon just walking around the resort to enjoy the scenery. Everyone loved the pools...the main one and the quiet one! We had no problems at all with the buses. It was never more than a short wait at any time and we only had a couple of times when we had to stand (at park closing and once first thing in the morning). We really enjoyed our stay at POR and everyone was sad when it was time to go home!

Before we went on our trip I really wanted to see a picture showing how big the new murphy beds are so I thought I would post a pic to help others who want to see the same thing. Here is a picture of my DS13, who is about 63 inches tall and 92lbs, on the Murphy bed.

All the buildings in AB that have been refurbished have murphy beds, because they are allowed to have an occupancy up to 5.

You are only guaranteed the murphy bed if you are a family of 5 or you book preferred, which is the first four closest buildings to the Main Building.

You can request being located in AB in a refurbished building and you would get a murphy bed.

Our only request was for a refurbished room. All of the refurbished rooms in AB have the murphy beds. When we checked in we were not originally given a refurbished room but the CM was able to reassign us to one after we asked nicely. Have a great trip!!!

After changing my mind about a million times, I have finally settled on POR for our vacation in April. The resort looks beautiful. I really love the mansions section and put a request in my reservation for a room in that section.

Not a dumb question at all! No you don't have to turn it in. They deactivate the room access on it. We keep ours all of the time!

You keep the cards. They also have your names and trip dates printed on them.
