I just wanted to post for those waiting for your Disney Mail, we leave in 26 more sleeps and get to POR in 27 more sleeps and I haven't gotten my packet yet. Maybe tomorrow?

The obessive planner in me would be making hubby (I'm deaf) call Disney every single day asking where my packet is. Hopefully it will be in your mailbox tomorrow.

That was a contractor guy that was fired, sorry

If you get lucky enough to find someone to allow it, fine, but his/her job will be in jeopardy if they get found out

Just enjoy your stay at the Poly and lounge in a hammock :)

OMG... That is horrible news! I feel so badly for him. When the pics were posted, I showed my husband because I couldn't believe the workers were in the pics.

I also feel badly for the person who took the pics, I am sure that was never their intent.

Thanks for Answering aboutFridge, Either WE had dud last vist there or I never turned it on. Wasn't an issue so i never persued it. And Our stay at CBR was when heat wave of 09 was visting so nothing ever felt cold enough.

This may have been stated elsewhere, but I was just hoping for a quick and easy answer.

Does the POR do anything special for Mardi Gras? I was surprised when I found out that it's during our next trip, so just wondering....

Thanks!

Awesome information in this thread, thank you all! :thumbsup2 A few questions that have popped into my head lately:

(1) It's awesome that POR now has free in-room wi-fi, but does the free wi-fi extend to the leisure areas of the resort (pool area, etc.)?

(2) How many cups does the in-room coffeemaker make at a time? Oh, and does asking mousekeeping for extra coffee guarantee that we'll have enough for our entire stay or do we need to order coffee from Garden Grocer?

(3) How is Boatwrights? Worth a TS credit?

Thanks everyone :flower3:

Wifi worked at the playground near the main pool when I was there a few weeks ago.

The menu at Boatwright's is a little limited. But the quality of the food is amazing. And the crawfish bites are addictive.

So if you are going with a group where there are a few individual discerning tastes, probably not. If there are just a couple of people, I'd say (for me anyways) yes.

Good Morning All!

I haven't tried the wi-fi anywhere but the room. Hopefully before we leave I can try it other places and see what it's like.

So did I tell you that we WALKED to POFQ yesterday? Yeah. I saw the mansions and thought they were in the French Quarter. I said to myself, "Wow! The French Quarter is really close! Self, we should walk over there and try Floatworks!"

It's a good thing that Muffaletta was tasty, I'm just saying'.

The live dining review for yesterday is up, ya'll come take a look!

Boatwrights is fantabulous! My wife had the prime rib - the best she's ever had. We are going back in the fall and not staying at POR, but this is the only table service restaurant that we are certain about going to this trip.

decisions decisions.... we are going aug 2012 and booked at POR Riverside. we will have 3 adults and 2 kids DD17 and DGD 17 months :) my daughter is handicapped and trying to figure out the best area to stay. we are booked in a regular room right now, but looking at the magnolia bend area, those rooms are very nice. my next thought was if we get free dining maybe moving to wilderness lodge. i have read good and bad abour the POR bus service :( we usually stay at FW cabins and I have been very spoiled by the good transportation and the easy boat ride to MK with the wheelchair in tow.. opinions, commnets welcome :)

I just private messaged you on my two cents with the decision on either of those. Good luck on your choice.

Hi there, I apologize as I gather this has been discussed a lot already, but I'm new and a bit overwhelmed by the thread: We've booked POR for March, no particular room requests. I'd been under the mistaken impression that all the rooms had Queen beds. I gather that if I really *must* have a Queen bed (as our baby usually ends up in our bed) I need to rebook one of the new Royal rooms (or switch to POFQ). Is that correct?

All the rooms are changing over to Queen beds; not all the buildings will be done by March. So if you have to have a queen sized bed, then you will have to request a refurbished room. While there are more now then when they first started, I wouldn't place any other requests than a refurbished room.

POFQ refurbishment is done, so you are guaranteed to obtain a queen sized bed over there.

I can tell you at POR, they only changed out the mattresses; the boxspring and frame are still the same. The mattress just overhangs by three inches on either side. I didn't really notice all that much of a difference.

It amazes me how people keep saying things about they heard about the bus problems at POR but I have only once seen where someone complained.

People! It is the same at every resort. It is your timing not the bus. Who is in a hurry anyway. The only way to not ever wait is to stay at the smallest resort or take a cab $$$$$. Now when is that cab going to get here:confused3

Thanks! My thinking was that if I request a refurbished room I'm still not guaranteed it, whereas if I actually pay more for the Royal Guest room, they'd have to give me one.

I seem to be unable to make a decision!

The first building of the Royal Guest rooms is delayed in construction, the second building hasn't even been started yet.

The people booked in Royal Guest rooms in the first building for the end of February and first week in March have been located to other resorts. I would suspect the March bookings are completely full for the first set of buildings, since they were allowed to book several months ago.

The entire refurbishment isn't expected to be completed until this summer.

Correct, all of the Royal Rooms will have queen beds (the first ones will open on 9th March). Also, the refurbishment at POFQ is already complete so all of the rooms there do already have queen beds.

However by mid-March, 50% of the non-Royal room capacity at Riverside will be refurbished, so I would be really surprised if they could not honor a basic request for a refurbished room.... but as you say it is still a request not a guarantee. Personally though, I'd risk it and work with the nice front-desk stuff to see if they can get you what you want, rather than paying the extra for a Royal Room just for the bed size.

(I dunno, who'd have thought there could be so much fuss over a few extra inches in bed... erm... please don't answer that one! :rotfl:)

Campfire on de' Bayou question. We've done this at Fort Wilderness, does it compare?

Also, I've read that it is seasonal. On www.portorleans.org I see it is on for January. Anyone know about Feb?

The compulsive planner in me would rather pay extra than deal with any uncertainty.

The website is allowing me to book a Royal Room for mid-March. (Or at least it was earlier; now it's just giving me a "server error".)
