Not true; you are talking to the Central Call Center; not POR. You just have the "illusion" that you are talking to the resort. Believe, CM's have been on the boards and verified that those "published" numbers go to the CCC.

Case in point. A few years ago, I got sick while at SSR. I pressed the "front desk" button on the phone from my room. The person picked up the phone and answered "Saratoga Springs Resort." She had a midwestern accent. We talked a few minutes about my options to get to Central Care Center and then I asked her where she was from. She said we are really not supposed to discuss it, but I am in Indiana. She determined it was not an emergency and then transferred me to Guest Services on-site, who called me a cab.

I know you have told me this story. But It is actually possible to talk to people at the resort. I have a number to DAVID, and he is the Room Assignment Manager there at the resort. I always get him, no one else. The one I use to call and talk to David directly is strait through, I even get his voicemail if he isn't available. I am sorry if you feel like I am stepping on your toes, but things have changed there and I can call right now and get him on the forums, he is not a registered member, but he has been looking over the worries in the thread so its ok.

*Updated: The 1-407-934-6000 number might end up at a call center for them, but I have called the number provided and got my reservation sorted out with them that day over the RGR deal. So its not like if they call it they will get turned away. They can even ask from there to speak to the David, I have mentioned stating their concern and he will forward the issue to the team. If they seem uninformed, just ask for the room assignment manager, David or any on duty manager at the resort and they can send an email for you to the team.

I feel like I'm imagining this, but is there a king preferred category at POR? I swear I saw it, but now it's not coming up and I'm not sure if it's because the rooms are already all booked for Dec 2012 or if it just doesn't exist. Anyone?

There is a booking category for POR; I have happened to be given one on two occassions when I travel alone and both have been corner rooms, which is quite nice! It has that larger feel with two windows; one on each side.

Hm then I guess it's already booked up for then - drat! DP and I were planning on going this year again and I really wanted both. I guess I'll just book preferred and change it to king preferred if I see it again. If not well...I'll just wave to her every night before I go to sleep. :rotfl: Thanks!

Thank you venomhatch! I feel a little bit more relieved now. I'm going to call them in the morning and see if I can speak to somebody about the rooms. It wouldn't be the end of the world I guess if I had to be in AB but I really, really would prefer the mansions. I'll let you know what happens.

Yeah I hope your room gets sorted out.

KCMike's pic at the top of this page reminds me...
Tell me a bit about the carriage rides at POR. Would it be enjoyable for a family of four (parents + 2 teens)? Where does the carriage go on its trip? Do you make a ressie in advance or just show up and hire the carriage? Is it evenings only, or are rides available in the afternoon?

You don't need any reservations. I've seen it operate in both the day and the night but it would be better in the night in my opinion. I love the resort in the evening. The lighting and and areas become secluded. It takes you around the resort starting at the mill and working across the bride and then on around the magnolia area and then turns at the bridge again and back around the resort until you reach the boat area/mill again.

One of my favorites from our trip last year...

Can someone tell me what time the Riverside Mill closes for the night? When we arrive in two weeks, our flight doesn't land until about 8:15pm and I wanted to see what time they close. I was planning on grabbing our luggage as we are arriving later on, but I want to make sure we get something good to eat that night so we're ready to go the next morning!

Just got my voicemail about the Royal Rm - I was checking in on Feb 27 with an AP rate, staying for 6 nights (in case anyone is still interested in the seeming lack of order of the phone calls!). I will give them a call back now, but first I had to check in on the boards! Glad to know we will likely be moved to a Deluxe. I would love to try the Poly (never been) but DH really dislikes it. We'll see!

Thanks for the update! I have been checking this thread all day for an update! So it looks like they are getting to 3-4 days per day so that puts me at Sunday or Monday for my call. This uncertainty is frustrating.

I just got my call tonight. We were staying 6 nights in the royal room Feb 26 with an AP rate. We were upgraded to AKL.

Well dont keep us in suspense! What did you get?

Congrats! Is that the deluxe you requested or is that what they offered? Just wondering if they've moved on/filled the slots they had to work with from Poly and BC since that's what many were offered.

I'm still not convinced we're going to get offered an upgrade since we are coming in March 8th for a royal room and they are projecting the ready date of them now as March 9th, but still jumping every time the phone rings :rotfl2:
