I just checked and now besides garden view I can also choose preferred or river view? I don't know what to do! Lol. If the royal room becomes available I would go with it:)

Any suggestions to get a close renovated room with queen bed??

We called today at our 45 day mark to pay for our 2/17 arrival and they stated they won't be ready:(. But, they upgraded us to POLY:cool1::cool1:. They wouldn't give us any info other than they wouldn't be ready for our check in.

Hi all, new to the Resorts Forums but a regular on several others, mostly on Theme Parks.

Anyway, I have a RGR standard view scheduled for Feb 17-20, and I just got a call from Reservations that they want to talk to me--all phone tag so far. I'm guessing it's about the RGR. I'm hoping I get the same pixie dust that Stasieki got above--man that would be sweet.

As luck would have it, DD7 doesn't even know about our trip next month or the RGR. Looks like holding back that surprise might have been a good call.

I'll check back in when I know more....

My parents are travelling with us to POR, and have a king bed room. We want our rooms to be connecting because it would be easiest for them to help watch the kiddies so we can go out once in awhile! Anyway, my mom called today to pay off her trip and add some requests and the woman told her king rooms don't have connecting doors to anything. I kind of don't want to believe her. So I thought I'd ask the experts. Just to clarify, we have a standard room booked, my parents have a king room booked. What are the chances we can get a connecting room, preferably in the refurbed mansions? Thanks!

Ok Andre I will pm you what I have found about the royal rooms. This is very important and I got it strait from Manager by the name of David at POR.

Hello all I have just got off the phone from POR Management, Nice guy by the name of David in charge of room assignments. But I will try to post all that was said and it is very credible.

First, The royal rooms will definitely not be open at all til March 9th. There is no listed reason to why. Just they wont be available. Second. David the room assignment manager there at Riverside stated that there is a team that is going down the list of reservations that would be there during the time it had been pushed back. They would be calling future guests and making arrangement's to move them to a upgraded resort, aka Poly, Floridian, etc. So the guests posting here are not to be alarmed that they would get a call most likely this week or next at the latest, from the team. The info of them not being ready just came available this morning. That is why not everyone has heard about it yet. If you need any other info from me I have phone numbers of management and who I talked to so let me know.

Well,

Thanks for the heads up, I wish we had not bought our airfare 2 days ago nothing I can do now. I would love an upgrade to WL so we will see but I still do not know how my DD will handle it, she has autism and does not understand things very well sometimes. My parents are also traveling with us and staying at POR during a portion of their stay... any ideas on what I can do with them if we get moved to another resort? I am giving them a heads up but we may have to pay the difference for my parent's stay if we get switched to another resort. At least I am prepared for the pending phone call ahead of time.

Yeah I didn't want people to start panicking, They will be calling all of them and sorting this out. I am saddened by the fact that are little one was so thrilled and geared up to see the royal room, but now we will be heading to the poly as well. I will continue to post here as well as the poly thread.

Does anyone know the size of the murphy bed? We have always stayed at POR, but my little ones are not so little anymore!

Hopping on board the new thread! :cool1:

Any new pictures of the finished AB rooms? Would be nice to see a good picture of the renovated AB room on post #4.

Dan

My hopes and wishes for all those affected by this RGR push-back, that you will still have a magical time and get relocated to a resort you wish for. My apologies for this sad but true news.

check out the website by the same person that sponsors this thread; portorleans.org. Under the refurbishment news, you will find photos of both the AB and Mansion rooms; Royal room photos are not available yet.

I just posted a link to a picture of the murphy bed on this thread. Looks very small to me. Love the new decor and queen beds but don't think any of my family members could fit in that bad unfortunately.

Ugh, now I'm panicking and terribly upset. We love the look of the POR and had booked a royal room from 3/8 to 3/15. Do you think it's likely we'll be offered some type of upgrade (in which case I need to start researching the other resorts) or do you think they'll offer to put us in a different room at POR for the 8th and have us move into a royal room on the 9th since we're missing the room being ready by only one night?

I realize any answers are just speculation, but would love some thoughts. This is our first trip to WDW, so I'm a bit stressed out now.

Thanks for the update/information. :flower3: I'm disappointed, because we were looking forward to the RGR, but an upgrade would be just fine for us as well. My worry was that they would switch us to a similarly priced room, (ie, pirate room) at another moderate resort. POR was really the only mod that we were interested in, due to the grounds & the RGR.

Since we transferred our resv to an agent, does anyone know how this information would get relayed to us? Would they just work through the agent regarding the room switch, or contact directly? Just curious as to what we should expect...

I'm sorry for those that really had their heart set on the RGR, and hope things work out for you. Hopefully, everyone will get some extra pixie dust and their trips will still turn out magical :cheer2:

I'm sure they will offer you an upgrade should you wish one, but I'm also sure that if you ask instead for a room-swap as soon as the new rooms are ready, they would be more than willing to try to work with you in any way they can to make everything magical for you.
