More questions-What is the view like between Oak Manor and Magnolia Terrace? And Do the trees obstruct any nice view from upper floors in inner courtyard of Oak and Parterre? Any pics would be great!

Well the area between the Oak and Parterre was some trees, but not like you could not look over to the other building. I could see the pool and river no problem from my corner room on the second floor parterre building. As for the courtyard in Oak there is a beautiful fountain you can see from all of the interior rooms in this area seen in the red boxed ones on this image below. as for the Parterre courtyard I have never ventured to see it so I can not vouch for that.

(Keep in mind the rooms to the top would be considered riverviews and have a little bit more of a price tag [ex. 9243 and 9271])

Sorry if this has been asked before, didn't get a chance to look through all of the pages...

I read that the new Royal Rooms have "princess" themes linens etc.....but the pictures don't really shout Princess to me. I'm thinking that my sons would LOVE the fireworks display over the beds, but if it's a really girly room, they might not be too impressed.

What do you think? Would little boys (ages 5 & 7) enjoy the new rooms?

I think personally your son would be fine with it. It isnt even like an all pink room or anything as you can see:

Thanks Andre and Venom for the info. Do you know if there is also a fountain in the courtyard on the parking lot side if Oak? Found a pretty pic on the PO.org site but didn't specify the location.

Yeah no problem, sadly no there is no fountain on the parking lot side or in the courtyard of Parterre Place. Very sorry.

Hello all!

We're booked in the Royal Guest rooms for a stay beginning March 4 (jocelyn6 - looks like we'll be there during the same time!). I know the calendar says the rooms in Oak Manor will be done in mid-February. Do you think there is a chance that they won't be complete by the time we arrive? We've been talking the rooms up to our 4YO daughter (ok, and hyping ourselves up too :rotfl:), but if there's a chance we won't be in the Royal rooms, I'd like to prepare us. I know it's hard to guarantee, but what are your best guesses as to completion on time?

THANKS!!:goodvibes

We will be there at the same time March 2-8, March 3-8 in the RGR... I am worried as well as I will be beyond upset if it is not available when we are there...my DD keeps talking about it.

Hey do you have a river view themed room in RGR section? If so we check out on the third of one of those. They are on time if not early with the refurbs so you will be ok, rest assured.

We called today at our 45 day mark to pay for our 2/17 arrival and they stated they won't be ready:(. But, they upgraded us to POLY:cool1::cool1:. They wouldn't give us any info other than they wouldn't be ready for our check in.

My goodness! An upgrade to the Poly sounds like a dream come true

Venom- can you link me to a map of Parterre rooms like the one you posted for Oak?

We are booked for February 16-28 and I thought I read somewhere that POR now has free wireless in all rooms. I can't find where I read it and I am just wondering if this is true?? That would be fabulous!

Hi,
I am looking to stay at POR and for my dates garden view is the only category available. I have never stayed here before. Have done CBR in the past and just looking to try something different. What rooms are these? I really don't care about view but would love a refurbished room with queen beds that was closer to the main building.

Thanks for any insight!

We love the mansion section. Both Acadian House (we had a new room in Aug) and Magnolia Terrace are refirbished. The rooms are very nice, and look pretty upscale. I would request a location in either building close to bridge over to Old Man Island. This location will put you pretty close to Main Pool and Food Court & main buildings. Also close to bus stops.
On page 1 of this thread you can see resort map. We have stayed in both buildings on either side of quiet pool which is in between Acadian & Magnolia. It's maybe a 5 min walk to food court, just walking around main pool and over bridge.

Thanks a bunch for the link! I'm totally obsessing about which building and view to pick. I think I'm leaning toward Parterre though I stayed there a l-o-n-g time ago and barely remember it. I'm travelling with 2 young kids this time around, will I be sorry being farther from the main buildings and Ol Man Island?

We stayed in the north end of parterre building. Far right river view corner room upstairs, it didn't seem far from main building since there is a bridge there between it and oak building. We prefer the quiet pools and there is one right there between the buildings also.

Thanks:) do you know if any of those rooms are preferred or what is the garden view? I would do preferred but it is not an option for my dates.

Found this at the top of the home page at portorleans.org!

Breaking News: Free in-room Wi-Fi access

I’ve just been told that the much anticipated free in-room Wi-Fi internet service at Port Orleans is now ready for action, and will commence service on Thursday 15 December 2011. I assume there will be a test-and-adjust phase, and I’ll add more details as soon as I get them.

THIS WOULD BE FANTASTIC! When we have stayed at OKW we have stayed on points and have not had to pay for wifi, so this would eliminate and extra charge and make the savings for us even greater! We cannot do without wifi. I mean, we REALLY cannot do without it.

I'll have to add that to my TR!

We were in AB Bldg 36 at Christmas and had free WIFI! I had national plans also, just in case, but it was nice to use something "free"...kinda gives you that "I got to 'em" feelin'!" ;)

We were in Parterre last Jan, in the very end practically in FQ  I think this was my least fav location. It wasn't too far from main building, as the bridge isn't very far away but it was far from Old Man Island and bus stop. We don't like the main bus stop, we find it very crowded in the morning, so we used the bus stop behind Magnolia Terrace.
I think if you are going for the Princess rooms I'd choose Oak Manor. More centrally located.
