Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter Room Request Fax Thread

I don't think of a pack n play as a room request. We had it on our reservation for Grand Floridian and POR last February. It wasn't in the room at either place. I just called back to the front desk and it was quickly delivered in both cases.

It is typically a request at check in item.

Room Manager or Room Assignment Team??

I'm finishing the details on my fax for our Dec trip to POR and was wondering which is correct?

On the template it says Attn: Room Assignment Team but recently I've seen "make sure it is sent to Room Manager"...

Is Room Manager now the best person to send the fax to?

:)

You can title it either way. It will go to same place.

Hi. Thanks so much for this thread. I faxed my request in on Friday and I really hope the right someone gets it. I wasn't planning to make special requests, but my hubby got hurt at work last week and needs surgery for a torn ACL, which can't happen until after our trip (not because of trip, because doc can't schedule it.) Doc said to go and enjoy. Gave DH a brace, crutches, prescription and told us to rent a scooter.
That's great, but now I will be doing all the heavy lifting, all the driving (18 hours), and we will need to use a scooter, which we have no experience in using. I feel bad because this is just a temporary situation and we normally wouldn't need the help. DH insists the trip will go on. I'm overwhelmed with worries about how this trip is going to happen.
I am blessed to have my mom and sisters going along to try to help me. Hopefully this all works out.
I just wanted to say thanks, again, for giving us this info. It helped calm down a chaotic week for me.

OOh, I forgot to ask this. My son will be staying with my sisters and my niece for most of the trip in the same resort I am in. He would like to go and stay with his grandmother at her resort for a night or two. Do I need to let POR resort know he isnt with us on those nights? Do I need to let her resort know he is staying with her and my dad? I thought it might be a safety issue is all.

I wouldn't worry about it, there's no cost implication for kids and I doubt Disney would be concerned. The only reason to let anyone know would be if your grandmother wants a different room keycard for him.

Otherwise, just sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet. :)

Faxed my request letter this morning, so stinking excited for our first Disney trip, honeymoon, and everything!! :) We will be arriving Sunday, have reserved a King room, requested a Mansion building with river views, or close to the main building. Those just seem a little more "romantic" than AB rooms. But heck, we will just be happy to be there!! :goodvibes

Yeah as Andre mentioned I wouldn't worry about it. He just wouldn't be able to gain access to the room with his own MB. But her could get drinks, food, or anything else you authorize his MB to do.

with Thanksgiving weekend here I totally forgot to fax my request. :confused3 I remembered and did it this morning for our arrival on the 4th so hopefully I made it in time.. :worship:

if not.. well, we will still be at Disney World so it really doesn't matter!!:banana:

We booked our Christmas trip through Orbitz for the first time, rather than directly through Disney. We are staying two weeks, and had to book a week in a royal room, followed by a week in a preferred room, which means AB. We prefer AB because the third bed means the kids don't have to share, and believe me, this is a good thing!

I recognize this is Disney's busiest season, and think I already know the answer to this, but was wondering if there is ANY likelihood that a request to stay in a preferred room in AB might be granted for our entire stay?

Any chance I won't have to move 4 people, 6 pieces of luggage, grocery delivery, and take down all our holiday decorations to switch rooms halfway through my stay? I was willing to do all this given the significant savings we received, but I am starting to regret it! :headache:

Well you've got nothing to lose, have you? Even if the resort is full, they might be able to give another family a free upgrade to your Royal Room, which would be a nice bit of Christmas pixie dust for someone.

Let them know you are not asking for any money back on your current booking, just that you really prefer Alligator Bayou and would like to offer your Royal Room nights to another family if the resort can arrange it. They might even give you the difference back anyway of course, but by not asking for it your request will sound more sincere.

Do not fax your request any earlier than FIVE days before your arrival day though, as they have a general policy of not making any discretionary room category modifications prior to that point. I'd also suggest avoiding sending your fax on a Sunday or Monday if possible, as the manager in charge of that department is usually off those days.

Good luck, I hope it works out well for you, and let us know how you get on. Have a great Xmas at Disney!

For our November stay, we did online check-in and then faxed a room request to match. We got everything we wanted in the perfect room location for our family! Not sure which made it happen, or if it was a combination of doing both, but THANK YOU!!! This was our first stay at POFQ; we loved it, and will return next November, hoping to get a room in the same location next time, too!

Faxed our requests in today for our Saturday arrival. Hopefully we get them (nothing too strange or demanding, I hope) but as many have said its still Disney so have fun. Thanks again everyone.

Hi all, today I switched our resort from CBR to POFQ for my girls trip with DD13 and DD11. We will be there from 1/21-1/28 and am booked in a River View....we are all so excited to be going back to our favorite moderate resort. I have been doing some changes since I first booked our trip. We originally were going to be staying at POFQ in April (would of left on Easter) for my girl's Spring Break but then decided that it would of been way too crowded for my taste. So then I moved our dates to the first week of March, right before Spring Break season, and with that we thought we would give CBR a try. Well, things happened and we switched out our dates to the end of January but still stayed with CBR. However, ever since I booked CBR I have been kind of nervous about it mainly because of the size of the resort. We are so used to POFQ's compact size, I wasn't sure if I wanted to go to a larger moderate resort (I'm already dealing with some nerve issues due to DH not going), plus I have been reading some negative reviews from guests that had returned recently, this to me was the icing on the cake. So this morning I went ahead and got on the phone and switched back to POFQ and when I told my kids the news, they both jumped up and down and screamed "YES!!!!!" :yay: :goodvibes.

Ok, so I guess I was excited to share with you all about our upcoming stay at POFQ that I posted this in the wrong thread :sad2: :rotfl2:. I thought this was the POR/POFQ Resort thread. Please excuse my ignorance and proceed with the original thread :goodvibes.

Hi Andre, for a Thursday arrival, what day would you recommend we send in our fax request? You mentioned no earlier than five days before arrival, but not on Sunday or Monday, so I'm kind of confused on when we should send ours off since we will be arriving Thursday, 2/19/2015. Would you recommend Friday 2/13 or Saturday 2/14? Thanks!

I'm confused. Andre recommended not sending it earlier than 5 days, so why not send it on the 14th? That's exactly 5 days. The 13th is earlier than 5 days.

Yep, I'd go with first thing on the Saturday morning, as that's five days before you are due to arrive.

You can send faxes whenever you like of course, and they should still be looked at by someone in the resort team - the staff won't burn faxes if they arrive outside of some arbitrary optimum window that you found on an internet forum. :)
