Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter (Items You Should Bring)

I thought I read in the POR thread that there is not an HDMI hookup on the TV. Is that wrong?

That is wrong, there is an HDMI connection.

I am so happy to hear that! Thank you!

Yeah there is an HDMI input. I use it almost every time. There is also the regular three RCAs input, and S-Video input as well. I don't know if I said something that confused you but I promise its there.

Thanks! I don't think it was you. Someone posted a picture and said it did not have an HDMI input.

Subscribing! Thanks so much for starting this thread :) On the main POR thread people had also suggested liquid pump soap and your own beach towel. I also always take to any hotel a hook that goes over the shower rail to hang my wet swim suit.

I second the liquid soap!!

I always like to bring a small packet of Lysol Wipes with us. We wipe down the door knobs, sink area, TV remotes etc etc. I'm always afraid that someone that stayed there before me could have had a germ or two and I hate the idea of getting sick when we're in the happiest place on earth.

I totally understand not wanting to get sick at Disney, but antibacterial products are making it harder and harder for hospitals to sterilise operating theatres properly so that people having operations don't end up with potentially deadly infections.

And they don't work: http://blogs.scientificamerican.com...and-soaps-may-be-making-you-and-society-sick/

I'm bringing a toaster. I'm going to remove the coffee maker and put the toaster in it's place. We can have toast or english muffins for breakfast. We're driving so we don't have a problem with bringing it. Plus I just found a cheap one at the grocery store for $8.

There are some toasters in the food court area, if you or someone else may not have known!

Nobody wants to get sick while on vacation, but it happened to me a few years ago while at WDW. The only thermometer available at the Jackson Square shop was one of those forehead bands, which is totally unreliable/useless. I never gave it a thought before, even when my sons were children, but every trip I go on now I pack an inexpensive digital thermometer in my medicine kit. I couldn't find a real thermometer anywhere in WDW (I looked at multiple locations - resorts and parks - after the antibiotic kicked in and I started feeling better). BTW, I wound up going to Centra Care where I was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection and my fever was a bit over 102.

Anyone at POR in the AB rooms find the over the door organizers helpful? I see the fabric shelves are mentioned.

we use the fabric shelves and shoe organizer that go over the bar in the "closet" area. The shelves are great for t-shirts & shorts and the toiletries go in the shoe organizer.

I never would've thought of that either, but it is a smart idea, especially when traveling with kids. Thanks!

In addition to the items already mentioned, some things I add (it is safe to say, I am not a light packer!) which have all come in handy at some point in time:

- Safety pins
- insect repellent (wipes)
- purse-sized room deodorizer spray (I live with three men!)
- garbage bags (I use them to line the drawers before putting our clothes in after I read the some people use the drawers for their dirty laundry - UGH! I then turn them inside out and line the luggage on the way home in case something spills)
- shoe organizers for shoes too (otherwise they are all over the floor)
- paper cups
- duct tape (for a myriad of uses)
- those little puck sized compressed facecloths that you pop into water and they expand. We find they come in handy for kids as they are easier for them to manage as they are thinner than the ones the hotel provides, and you can always throw a bunch in your park bag just in case)
- a magnetic door hook that sticks to the door, and a door decoration of some sort helps our kids locate our door quickly amongst others - plus decorating is always fun, we fancy up our windows most trips too!

And, hair clips also work well for stubborn drapes in a pinch! :thumbsup2

I always forget but this time I wrote this one down. Dish soap and bottle brush for the resort mugs. The washing stations at the foodcourt are pointless after a few days. Dont see why they dont have soap there.

You know what's pretty much exactly the same stuff as dish soap? Shampoo! I travel heaps for work (or did until recently) and always took my French press to make coffee. Shampoo is a detergent, like dish soap (which is not actually a soap) and they have the exact same effect.

In order to charge iphones and ipads at POR we need to bring an adapter?

Yes, there is no docks or USBs at POR. I just bring a power stip and plug everything into one area.
