going to this resort in mid april..how is it? never been ..my husband and i are going by ourselves..we are an older couple who wantss to have a great time and just enjoy disney.. thank u:

You will love it! It's a very quiet, peaceful resort with lots of southern charm. The Mansions buildings are particularly romantic.:lovestruc

That is the first WDW resort I ever stayed at. We LOVED it. The grounds are beautiful and very peaceful. We always enjoyed the walk from our room to the food court. We stayed in the mansion section and loved it. Request a corner room...it's much prettier with the two windows! Have a great time.

Hello Connie101- welcome to the boards. You'll find alot of useful information on these boards.

My DH and I are slated to go to WDW the first week of May for 9 days. We are celebrating his 60th b'day. We have been before and just love POR - the last time we were there it was called Dixie Landings.

We decided on this resort because of the beautiful surroundings, the rooms have always been terrific, there is a table service restaurant as well as a counter service restaurant. We like the "quiet pools" and the lounge to have a cocktail in the evening if we want to.

We just relax and while I do have several ADR's made already (you can book them 180 days out) we know what we want to do and don't really want to be too heavily "scheduled" (enough of that in real life and your on vacation after all) LOL.

No matter what you plan, just acknowledge before you go that you can't see and do it all.

If you would like to private message me feel free and I'll answer any questions you might have to the best of my ability. Have a wonderful trip and get a pair of comfortable shoes, your gonna need them! :flower3:

Try fishing at the fishing hole.

is boatwrights close by for eating for breakfast??? thanks

We're staying there, too!

I think Boatrights is right close to the resort :)

Hi Connie:

Boatwrights is the table service restaurant and it is adjacent to the lobby of POR. They also have nice counter service. My DH and I arrive at POR on 4/30 and depart 5/9 but I don't want to think about the departing.....yet I can't wait to get there! LOL:goodvibes

We just go back from WDW and POR. We stayed in building 35 in alligator bayou and it was wonderful. We will definitely stay there if we are ever able to make another WDW trip.

Boatwright's Banana stuffed French toast (without the strawberry sauce) and sweet potato pancakes are awesome!

We stayed and enjoyed it. The grounds are pretty, the food court is good, and the lifeguards at the main pool played games with the kids. :thumbsup2 That being said, I am not sure I would stay there again without having my own transportation.

We've stayed at this resort several times---both in the Mansions and in the Alligator Bayou section. I am partial to the Mansions, but that could also be due to the fact that I rode the stairs all the way down on my backside one rainy morning in the Bayou! :headache:
Each time we go back to POR, we think maybe we should try another resort instead...but never do! It's (relatively) quiet, nicely landscaped, and full of precious bunnies running around that I'm sure Disney had imported in from somewhere. You'll love it.

i agree with everyone, it is a beautiful resort. we stayed in alligator bayou for the trundle beds. i do NOT want to be a debbie downer, BUT depending where you are, it can be a LONG walk to the lobby. i also felt the food court is not big enough or fast enough for the size of the resort.

i've seen threads that tell you the rooms to request. i know #18 is one of them but i don't know the others.

overall we loved the resort, it was just hard to walk soooo far to our room and the lobby after walking already so much.
have fun!

Well I have never been there but this may be the one I stay at next time I go. From what I saw it looks beautiful.

my husband and i actually WANTED to be far away from the main area. It was so much quieter. I need peace and quiet to sleep. Of course, if I had 5 kids with me or something it would probably be a different story.

very large resort. I would like to stay there again. I really enjoyed the boat ride to DTD. Almost like another attraction.:thumbsup2
