So I am booking my 2010 vacation and we have decided Port Orleans but not sure which side!! Not sure if this thread is out there (sorry if this is a repeat)! PROS/CONS? Please let me know your feelings! Thank you!!!!!:goodvibes

Riverside

Pros- Beautiful Grounds, Boatwrights Dining Hall which is a TS restaurant POFQ does not have one, better food court

Cons- Very large and spread out, shares a bus with POFQ and it's not the first pickup POFQ is..

French Quarter

Pros- Great theme, smaller and more compact and rooms closer to main building then Riverside

Cons- No TS restaurant, pool is nicer at Riverside IMO

Awesome! thank you for your help!!!!:cutie:

I love both, but with younger kids I'd go POFQ. Smaller resort, first bus pick-up/drop-off, 7yo will enjoy the pool theming.

I agree with all of these points. My family does prefer POFQ, but either way you can't go wrong.

POFQ for us. We like the small size, and thought the busses were very efficient. We went the first week of March this year, and only shared with Riverside 2 days, but I think thats more luck of the draw than actual policy. The pool was very nice,DD loved the slide there. Riverside does have a table service, and POFQ doesn't, if that is important to you. I think you'd like either resort, but we'd pick POFQ again. Have fun!

We have stayed at the POR three times and really enjoyed it but have always tried to get into the POFQ...we finally did in June 09 and we loved it! So much quieter than the POR...cannot wait for our 11 day trip to the POFQ in Oct

I've stayed at both. I'm from Louisiana, and FQ gives a nice taste of New Orleans without the pigeon droppings and trash. ;) So that one is good for people who like cities (plus the pool is awesome - kids love King Triton!). Riverside is swampy like the rest of the state, so people who love the country would feel at home there. They're both great, though.

POFQ is awesome! The only con I have about it is that I didn't really find it's CS restaurant that great..I mean it was doable but I just preferred to eat out in the parks!!:thumbsup2

Otherwise...POFQ instead of POR all the way.

ALmost there looking forward to POR because we are 5 but also stayed at POFQ and loved it when we had 2. ;);)

I just recently stayed at POFQ and loved it. It was small, quiet and beautiful. We were with or 4 yr old son and he LOVED the pool and slide. Yes it doesn't have TS but we choose to eat at the parks. I did have a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich, and oh my it was the best that I ever had. Hope this helps.

they really are almost equal. both so pretty! maybe just a pick a theme you enjoy and go with it. however, as PP pointed out, if the restaurant is a must, then go with Riverside. Either way, you won't be disappointed!

queen beds in the new rooms at FQ trump the restaurant....:)

Agree with what most others have said. We have stayed at both and recommend them both all of the time. They are our favorite moderate resorts.

We honeymooned at POFQ and didnt feel like there was as many families there. POR has rooms that hold 5 people, so there are more kids there since its a cheaper alternative than the deluxe resorts for a family of five.

We really love them both. Love the boat to DTD.

POFQ...for the small size and the excellent theme. I also liked that there was only one bus stop at the resort.

We compensated for the lack of decent restaurant by eating at the parks or by taking the boat (or bus) to DTD for better CS at Earle of a Sandwich.

POFQ - both are good but FQ is smaller (so therefore easier to get around), has a fun pool as well as a fun themed food court. True there is no TS restaurant, but the fact that there is only one bus stop as opposed to POR's four totally makes up for that.
