Port Orleans French Quarter

Thanks for that Jockey - I think I will stay at POFQ, I like the idea of a quieter small resort after all the hussle and bussle of the parks - plus it sounds as though the buses are easier from there too which is a huge plus for us!!

thanks again!!

No Probs :thumbsup2 , you have made a great choice! I will look forward to hearing what you think when you get back!:)

Both of the Port Orleans resorts are lovely, I'm sure you'd be happy with either. Riverside (though I still think of it as Dixie Landings) is rather a lot bigger than FQ, but it does have the added advantage of Ol' Man Island which has a nice big playground, a swimming pool and, if I remember rightly, parrots. FQ is a smaller, more elegant resort (though the Magnolia Bend buildings at POR are very elegant) with lots of small gardens to explore or just sit in to watch the world go by. FQ only has one pool (but well themed and I've never found it over-crowded), a hot tub and a slightly smaller playground. Whichever one you stay in, it's very easy to visit the other one, either by boat or on foot (it's a nice easy stroll, see Denise's wonderful website for pictures and times).

All in all, I think you'll be happy wherever you stay, and I love both of the PO resorts. Have fun :thumbsup2 !

POFQ is a lovely resort, we loved it. The only thing I didn't like was they never seemed to have enough buses at night after the fireworks. One night (at the end of September, so not peak time) we waited over an hour to get on a bus back to the resort from the Magic Kingdom.

Next time we go we will hopefully have an addition to the family and I will definitely stay at a monorail resort for the convenience or at Wilderness Lodge as you can take a boat back to the resort.

But other than that small bus issue we thought the POFQ was fab, great pool and boat service to DTD!

Congrats to you both Eloise and Phil (I just noticed your baby ticker!!!) - we're expecting at the beginning of Sept so its really exciting isn't it!! - hope everything goes well and keep us up to date!!!

I would stay at a monorail property (for the reasons you've said) but the price has put me off!! - we've instead opted for POFQ and will do a disney cruise with the other money!!! - I don't think the little ones will last for fireworks anyway so I'm hoping that the buses will be ok if we are not waiting until closing - fingers crossed anyway!!

You'll be fine then, plenty of buses and like everyone says, POFQ is a small and charming resort with a great pool!

Congrats to you too! Would you mind if I added your name to the thread I started for those of us expecting Disney babies?! It's on the UK Community Board! When is your due date? Do you know if you're having a boy or girl?

Jon & I stayed at POFQ in the summer Amy- it's a lovely resort.

I didn't know about your bump, so many many congratulations :cheer2:

It would be lovely to see you all soon :) :)

Hi Eloise - yes thats fine add me to it, that would be great! - I'm due on 5th Sept and we're having our second little boy!!!

Hi Karen - I've been looking out for you, so its nice to see you back!! I've become very addicted and am on here every day now!!! Yes Kai is having a little Brother in September (I don't know that Jon's mum and dad know as I'm not sure if mum has seen them or not!! but feel free to say!)
Hope you are all ok and perhaps we could get together soon and talk all things Disney (as usual!!). Take care x
