Planning my first Disney visit staying on property. Just my DH and myself for my 40th birthday (leaving my 4 DS home). Only going for 4 days (don't think I can be away from the 4 DS any longer!) Since we have never stayed on property, we are having a hard time deciding which resort to stay at. Can really only afford the moderates and POFQ and POR both look nice. Any suggestions on which is a better choice for a couple of adults??:lovestruc

POFQ is smaller and I prefer the theming there. We stayed there in 2011 right after the refurbishments and I loved it. Its a short walk to POR, so you can enjoy the restaurant or other amenities there if you wish. Guests at either resort are allowed to visit the other one's pool etc. Both have the boat to DTD (it picks up guests at POR first and then at POFQ). Although I prefer the look of POFQ personally, I think you should look at photos of both and choose whichever theming you prefer. I think either would be a good choice. Have a wonderful time!

Depends on what you are looking for. :teeth:

FQ is very small and compact - Riverside is larger and much more spread out. FQ only has a food court - Riverside has a food court and a sit-down restaurant. They are "sister resorts" so you can swim at either one.

I found the landscaping to be more lush when we walked over to Riverside, though FQ was beautiful, too with its "city streets" and sidewalks.

Hope this helps a little. :welcome: to the DIS!

We prefer POFQ. It is smaller and when the parks aren't too crowded, they sometimes share buses, and the buses stop at POFQ first. We do like the food court better at POR for dinner so we will walk down there if we are having a quick service dinner at the hotel, it is a nice walk, about 15 minutes. POR seems nice, just a lot larger than French Quarter. Both have the boat to Downtown Disney which is great.

The key fact is the bus stop....Often You drive right by Riverside as the Bus fills at POFQ

we have stayed at por and booked for pofq next year.:goodvibes

went for a walk to pofq and my dh preferred the layout of por.

we also prefer the foodcourt at por, so will be visiting again next year-and obviously not far to go.::yes::

i think they are both very similar, we noticed more children at por than pofq the brief time we were there.

Thanks! Just booked French Quarter! Probably won't spend any time at the pools and we don't plan on eating anything but breakfast at the resort. Can't wait to get there!
