Port Orleans French Quarter FAQ thread - Refurbished for 2011 - Now CLOSED

It is good to know that there is a quick service restaurant that will not automatically charge a 15% tip for re-filling drinks. Oatmeal brought to our table by myself is $5 already at CSR. With two over age ten girls, the four of us were looking at fifty bucks for breakfast. I needed garden grocer to deliver food at CSR. I did recently switch our reservation to Port Orleans French Quarter. The amenities offered seem to match our limited list of wants. Besides a quick, affordable breakfast, the resort is not too spread out and the rooms have queen beds. Everything else is a bonus that we would need to re-arrange plans to use. That idea makes me feel extravagant. I just can't wait! I am still considering a grocery delivery for sunblock, water, milk, OJ, yogurt, fruit, and vegetables. A mom has to try to provide healthy food!

What address should I give garden grocer?
Does the reception area have a refrigerated storage area?
Do I need to be available at the resort at the schedule delivery time?

When you cash out on Garden Grocer's web site, there's a drop down list where you can pick the resort you're staying at. They are pre-programmed so no need to enter an address.

Yes, the bell service area has a refrigerated area where things can be stored. I would maybe let Garden Grocer know you want it stored refrigerated or call the resort so they know. I've never had anything stored refrigerated but I have seen reports from other people where it's not a problem.

You do not need to be at the resort for the delivery time. They will leave it with bell services who will bring it to your room.

Are there pool games or activities? We've enjoyed Bingo at AS Music and games for kids (balloon tosses, hoola hoop contests, etc.) at CSR. I don't remember any activities such as these at POR.

Bumping in hopes of an answer. I don't remember either. :)

There isn't normally a regular schedule of pool activities, but I've often seen stuff going on during the afternoons. Not nearly as planned and organised as places like the Beach Club though.

I had no problems with them, as a pillow is a pillow to me. A couple of them were a little hard but otherwise, I found no issues.

I wouldn't say that the pillows are horrible, and I can't say if they're like the pillows at POP/ALL Stars never having stayed there. But they are a bit small and a bit hard, not really to my liking. (unless they've changed them since my last visit in November)

Thanks. I can't really tell from the pictures but I did not find the pillows at the Values to be good at all but I guess if you run yourself tired, it won't matter what they are like!!

Absolutely....after my initial "wow, I'm not crazy about this pillow" moment, I had no problems sleeping. :)

Please help for arriving to the MK for a breakfast time of 8:05 at the CP from POFQ? This is our first time staying at the POFQ and having an ADR this early! now we are trying to figure out how to get there on time! If I am posting this in the wrong spot please redirect me :worship: and accept my appologies~ we leave in 3 weeks and still do not have all our documents ( so I am a tad frazzled :scared1: ) if you can help THANK YOU!:cloud9:

There is an early bus to MK for character breakfasts, but probably the FASTEST is to take a taxi.

I'm so excited to stay at this resort!

We stayed at AS-Music last year which was great. Absolutely NO complaints but we wanted to try something new this time. PO seems utterly charming and the boat ride sounds wonderful. We wanted to stay at the French Quarter but changed to Riverside when we heard the transportation could be problematic. I thought I had heard that French Quarter folks get picked up last on the buses which caused congestion. Am I mistaken? Do Riverside folks get picked up last? If so, what Riverside Bus Stop is best to use? We are traveling in mid-May so I don't know if it's even an issue during off-peak times. Thank you! I feel so grateful to be able to visit Disney again!

If they are sharing buses, then French Quarter gets picked up and dropped off first.

In the food court area, do they have a "hot water" tap by the coffee machines where you can get just hot water (for tea)? I know at Pop they do, and I like to bring my own special tea bags in the am for tea sometimes.

Thank you!!

Yes, they have a hot water tap in the coffee machine dispensers.

I'm getting concerned about the pool situation. Normally, we are quiet pool people (if there is a choice of pools) because we really just want to cool off in the water and relax. Since there is only one pool at POFQ and I'm guessing the crowds are insane right now (our trip is less than 2 weeks away!), what should I expect? Will I even be able to get a lounge chair in the afternoon?

check w/ the concierge the night before to find the time of the early magic kingdom bus. we have never missed a reservation at crystal palace, or chef mickey's. that's what the early buses are for. just check for piece of mind, and be at your bus stop 10 minutes early to play it safe. there is also a "no hassle" 15-20 minute window if your late, but doing this, i doubt you'd need it. just thought i'd mention it so you don't start your meal w/ panic if your 5 minutes late. have fun!

99% of the time that's true. The night my dh needed a bathroom desperately, the driver went around POR first. And he hit the main depot there (the one at the main building) last (it is usually first). Very strange.

About the pillows -- Ours were great our first two trips, the third (this past November) they were terrible. On the last night I decided to try out the ones on the shelf and found that they were excellent pillows. So, if the pillows on your bed are not comfy, check the extra ones on the shelf near the sinks.

About the lemons -- It seems to me they were kept in a small refrigerator with a glass door there at the drink station. There was also some milk (or was it real 1/2 and 1/2?) in there as well as butter if I recall correctly.

Thanks!! My brother lives in the Orlando area so I figured if it comes down to it, I can have him bring some over from his townhouse since I'm sure they don't use every pillow in their 4 bedrooms :rotfl:

There you go, the fridge is on the left-hand side of the counter (click for photo for larger version). Lemons galore!
