I have read this thread from start to finish popcorn:: and picked up TONS of awesome tips, info and great energy!! I wonder if anyone knows where, or wouldn't mind sharing, what are the available drinks at the fountain? :flower3: and is there milk for tea? we will be first timers at POFQ and after reading this thread~we are certain we have made a great choice! thanks for the info!

The beverage stations open at 6:00 am; along with the bakery. The regular food court opens at 7:00 am.

There is the standard coffee (regular and decaf); brewed iced tea; hot water for hot tea and tea bags; and the standard sodas. There is creamer for the coffee, as well as all kinds of types of sugar (including Splenda).

You can purchase milk (regular or chocolate) at the grab'n' go section, as well as various other iced teas, juices, etc. I am not completely sure, but someone asked about soy milk and I am pretty sure they didn't have it.

Don't forget to pick up a beignet.

I read through this thread & have done previous research on both POFQ and POR. Originally I really wanted to stay at POFQ (mostly because my son loves the water slide & I prefer their rooms over POR). Now that I found out they are refurbing the POFQ rooms by April (our trip is in September), I am leaning towards the French Quarter.

However, I was really considering changing to POR for awhile & now I don't know what to do! I just can't choose between the two.

From what I'm reading, POR has Boatwrights the TS (which we'd probably only eat at once or maybe twice at most during our trip due to eating at the parks & DTD). POR is closer to the marina (we do want to rent a boat one day during the trip). They both have a food court & check-in building...but from what I've heard, people prefer POR's food court ? POR is closer to the dock for the DTD boat which we will be using at least 3-4 days for dining ressies.

I know its a further walk to the POR buildings from POFQ but we don't mind walking. We stayed at CBR last trip & loved how spread out the resort was. I know it bothers some people, but we love it!

I guess what I'm asking is...for those of you who have stayed at both...which do you prefer & why?

Anyone have an opinion on the coffee in the food court? In general, I like fairly strong coffee (with lots of cream and sugar...:) Will I be dying for a good cup by the end of the week? Thanks!

Andre...Oh Andre... YooHoo~

OK we just booked for May 2-7 POFQ Standard Room with Free Dining :woohoo::banana::cheer2::yay:

Can you tell I'm excited??

Now we had a river-view room last time and it was wonderful. We went standard this time because the whole area is lovely. What is the best standard bldg. to request that won't have a parking lot view? I don't care if it's far away just please no parking lot/maintenance area view. Thanks!!

Hey Andre did you ever make it over to the Campfire??;);)

Unfortunately the coffee in the food court is Nescafe AKA Nescrape. It's not the best nor is it very strong, but it does grow on you after a while. :) Most of the TS restaurants have good coffee like Boma and CP and a few others that I can't think of now. :)

I would have to say the exact same thing about the brewed tea.

I am a tea junkie, and I love the Lipton brand of brewed tea you get in most restaurants. I didn't like what they had at first, but it did grow on me by the end of the week.

There are some really great places to get really good, real coffee. Allearsnet has a spreadsheet on it.

Yay for drink pics! Thank you!

Do you know who I'd ask to find out what the ingredients are in the hot chocolate?

Can you get hot chocolate in the resort mug?

/high maintenance

Waves back!!!:yay::banana:

Yup, I did get there in February 2010, people seemed to be having a good time (if a little lacking in story-telling):

As for buildings without any parking lot views, 6 would be great, and 2 and 5 are really nicely located for the pool and all facilities too.

No idea on the detailed ingredients I'm afraid (chocolate maybe?) but yes, anything from the beverage area can be used in the refillable mugs.

Andre

They do have the ingredients for the hot chocolate. I can't remember them off the top of my head just looked for allergens but it was very similar to other mixes with sugar, dry milk, and chemicals ;)

Thanks guys. :) I really just wanted to know if it had milk in it. Sorry kiddos! Just juice for you.

I'm assuming nescafe is just like, instant coffee? Nothing terribly weird (or dairy) in it?

Nope. It's just really really bad coffee. :) And I can hardly wait to have some in April. :goodvibes

Oh, as an aside, on the disABILITIES thread, they have an email addresses for the gal who deals with food allergies and she can send you lists of ingredients for all the restaurants at WDW. :)

Thank you! Do you have any recollection of how much the cab was?

DH is big into trains, so I think this would be a great surprise for him :) (Unfortunately I can't go, DD is underage!)

Sorry; I didn't take a cab because we had a car and parked at the Contemporary. (Yes, we were allowed to because of the tour reservation.)

But I did take a cab two years ago from AKL to CSR, which was about $15 including tip.

POFQ also has a dock for the Downtown Disney boat so that is not a concern.

I am also torn between the two resorts. Right now I am booked at POFQ (with free dining) for late August but I am considering a switch over to POR if they offer free dining again for my time period.

Last year we stayed at POFQ for the first time and loved it however it did seem that any time we wanted to do something extra we had to go to POR to do it.....fishing, horsedrawn carriage ride, table service, hair wrapping, boat rentals, Bayou Pirate Adventure. POFQ on the other hand is very cozy and there was never any issues getting around the resort. The theming is wonderful and bright. So it depends, I guess on what you consider to be most important.

I am interested in any replies you may get.

Thanks Andre!! 6 it is. We were going to stay offsite but this Free Dining is too good to pass up. So, we are returning to our FAVE resort and visiting the best FAQ thread run by our FAVE Andre:flower3:

We use Mears to go over to Universal, and have always made it well before rope drop. They charge $18.00/person round trip. The number is 407-423-5566. You can buy the transportation vouchers at the airport the day you arrive. The Mears desk is right next to the DME desk.

Is that at the airport, or at all of the Disney hotels? If at the hotels, I've not noticed that before.

Andre

That has to be at the airport. There is no ME desk at the resorts; only RAC.

Yes, sorry! The Mears desk is next to the DME desk at the Orlando airport. The only way to get in touch with Mears once you get to the resort would be to call them.

We just booked Nov. 10-19th for our first stay here and I can't wait!!! We stayed at CSR last year and while we loved it, we want to try different places so I'm looking foward to reading this thread!

Thanks for all the great info!

He was in the lounge at French Quarter for many years entertaining guests as they arrived back from a day at the parks.

Does anyone remember him and have you seen him since:confused3

Famous songs that everyone would sing together: Brown Eyed Girl and a bunch of Jimmy Buffet songs.

It was a magical memory:wizard:

Sounds like a fun entertainer!

I don't remember him, but I am looking forward to seeing Elliot Dyson for the first time and walking over to POR to see Bob Jackson again. We ♥ Bob!
