Rekenna, thanks for the pictures! What a gorgeous place. That path along the river looks so lovely. :lovestruc

Bummer about the rain.

Um, since you offered... someone posted that there are now pin starter sets for sale at WDW that are only $15 for like 8 pins. Seen anything to confirm that? And no worries if you haven't. :sunny:

Yes, they are really nice-I will try to get a pic of one tomorrow. It's one of those deals-spend so much get the starter set or a Mickey Canvas bag for x$. I got the blue and green Mickey Bag.

Rekenna,
Can you check if the gift shop or food court onsite at POFQ sells large cartons of Orange juice?
I was thinking of Garden Grocer, but if they sell large size OJ (not individual ones) and milk onsite, then maybe we don't need a grocery delivery for quick breakfast in the room...
Thanks!:thumbsup2
Jessica

I don't recall large cartons only the individual size. I will walk through the food court again in the morning and double check.

Thank you Rekenna!!! :goodvibes

So, random question. I plan on having a pre-trip meeting with the family (dh, dd 6 and ds 9) to talk to them about the trip, touring plans, how FP work, etc.

Dh and I grew up in SoCal and have been to Disneyland a million times. When we planned this trip we sort of thought it would be like going to DLR 25 years ago. :rotfl: Anyway, I need to make sure everyone realizes what a huge destination and plan-necessary trip this is! I'd rather talk about stuff beforehand then stand there in the heat in Fantasyland trying to get everyone up to speed on why FP is important.

Anyway, finally to my question - I thought I'd keep them entertained with some New Orleans inspired food and beverages (most specifically a cocktail for dh!). Is there some sort of quintessential southern/New Orleans soda that I can try and track down for the kids?

A Hurricane for your husband and Abita Root Beer for the kids.

Oh thank you! I can make a hurricane. Maybe I should start practicing... ;)

I'll see if I can find some Abita root beer, it sounds familiar.

Dang! No Abita within 100 miles! My kingdom for a BevMo!

How far is the POFQ bus stop from the entrance to each of the parks? In the past we've stayed at Pop and the All-Stars and they are always the last stops.

POFQ bus stops are amongst the better ones in terms of proximity to the entrance of the parks. The one exception is DHS where it is much further along, but even then, it's not that bad.

Question about the in-room safe, it's pretty small right? Is it free to use or is there a daily rate? I'm not sure how Disney does this stuff. TIA

Actually DHS is very close to POFQ, unless the bus driver drives around SSR. It's the opposite way on the same street as DTD. AK is further down. And if a bus drives the back way past the golf course and Fort Wilderness, MK is super close.

safes are free, they are very small. There is a fee only if you don't return the key.

Hello--
Apologies if this was previously asked and I missed it: The Disney website indicates that there is no delivery of purchases to the resort. It doesn't look like any moderates have the option, actually. I've only stayed at Pop and BLT recently and both of those afforded this. Is there really no package delivery? If there isn't, does anyone know if there is still the option to have purchases sent to the front of the parks for evening pick-up? Thanks for the help!!
:cool1:

PS--We're going here in September and haven't been previously. It's seiously so lovely. Can't wait!!

Yes, you can have packages delivered to the resort. You can pick them up from the gift shop, after 1pm the following day.

I haven't looked much at prices this year since we are going next year, but today I took a peek to see what I could expect to pay next April. I am shocked. It looks like I would be paying over $200 a night arriving eight days after Easter, "regular season." A king room during regular season right now is $200, so I know it will go higher than that. Unless a really nice offer comes my way, I may have to spend my 35th anniversary somewhere else. I am so disappointed.

We were at POFQ (5105) Tues-Friday this week. :cool1:
A couple of notes:

1. the slide is good for younger children, not too fast and ends in water around 3'3". :thumbsup2 Not good if you are a teen or adult looking for speed or flying power. The water wasn't super warm but it felt good after being in the hot park all day Tuesday. There is a little kid pool, not deep--maybe ankle deep, for non swimmers.

2. If you are in building 5, park in the parking section 4. It is closer to building 5 than parking section 5 is. Building 4 is right up on the parking lot, and the end of the building is right off of part of section 5.

3. Our room was by the hot tub (which wasn't used very much on Wed/Thurs, due to the weather), but it was a bit noisy Tuesday night. Same with the pool (which we could see from the room) but it wasn't really loud. The worst problem was the kids using the hot tub as a pool, and the parents who let them. :headache: (Personal note: we don't allow our 7 year old in hot tubs, the 17 year old can if she wants. We feel that hot tubs are not play places and should not be treated as such.)

4. Our room was also close to the food court. :cheer2: Don't get the creole burger, dh got sick from the sauce or shrimp on Wednesday night. The rest of the food was fine--we ate there quite a bit due to the weather. The beignets were yummy, but more like sopapillas. The pot roast was ok, but the mashed potatoes were awesome.

5. And our room was close to the buses. Just walk thru bldg 4 passes, (same with the parking lot). No need to go through the lobby.

6. Gift shop has the usual assortment of Disney stuff, plus food items (and alcohol!). :rolleyes1

7. The room was quite large. Two queen beds, large dresser, table and chairs and still lots of walking room! The shower was nice (hot water AND water pressure), the tub a bit small for us Pooh-sized people, tub/toilet area is small as well. The sink area is very large.

8. No problems with mousekeeping. We had a Mickey head towel on the bed at check in; no disneyfied towels on Wednesday, but they did have DS's stuffed animals and toys playing on the pillows. They didn't get to get in on Thurday, just emptied the trash and gave us extra towels.

9. If you go to the pool/hot tub, you have to bring towels from your room. But if you call mousekeeping, they will bring extra towels for you to use.

All in all we really enjoyed the room. Which is good, since we spent almost the entire day in it Thursday. My shoes are still soaking wet from the short time we were at DHS.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed POFQ, I can't wait to get back there in October.

I agree with you about little ones being allowed by their parents to use the hot tub for "swimming"...a couple of times when we were there last, a few of them showed up wearing goggles and swimmies. That was the signal for me to leave.

They don't have towels at the pool anymore? That's very strange, they've always been supplied in the past. By the way, I'm a grown up (and chicken) and I love the slide at POFQ. :)

We just left on March 21st and they had bins with towels in them?? Maybe they were just all taken and weren't restocked?? If you went to the hot tub you had to take a towel with you from the bin but they had a huge big right as you walked in across from the bar area.

I will agree about the water temp too, we thought it was kind of cold too and our weather was in the low 80s.

The towel bin should have been there on the left but if you had nasty weather maybe they took it down for a few days? My brother said Orlando had several tornado watches/warnings this past week:

oh im getting even more excited and i got ages to wait like next September.

It sounds ideal for us .Though am hoping that by uk standards the pool is warm at least anything above freezing is good.

Can i ask what the fridges are like size wise please

thank you

I think PP was referring to where the POFQ bus stop is at DHS. ;)
