We were at POFQ (5105) Tues-Friday this week. :cool1:
9. If you go to the pool/hot tub, you have to bring towels from your room. But if you call mousekeeping, they will bring extra towels for you to use.

Good to know about the towels. I had assumed they would be at the pool. I will pack beach towels in case we need them.

I agree with you about little ones being allowed by their parents to use the hot tub for "swimming"...a couple of times when we were there last, a few of them showed up wearing goggles and swimmies. That was the signal for me to leave.

Slightly off-topic, [start rant] but if you see this, you might want to warn the parents, or notify the lifeguard. Children have drowned when their hair has gotten caught in the intake valve, usually at the bottom of a hot tub and they haven't been able to get loose. The valve has a lot of suction to bring the air in and shoot it out the vents that create the "spa" effect. "Swimming" in a hot tub is VERY DANGEROUS even at home - my d got her hair caught in the intake while swimming in our Jacuzzi bathtub! :scared1: Luckily, the valve was on the side of the tub and her head wasn't caught under water. She was just stuck until someone came to her rescue. If her hair had been grabbed 1/2 an inch closer to her head, we wouldn't be going to her graduation this May. [/end rant]

It certainly is very dangerous. I am glad that your daughter came through unscathed.

One year when I was at POR, during Pop Warner completed by accident, several boys were in the hot tub daring who could stay under the longest. A few minutes later, the lifeguard caught wind of it and he hustled them out of there and told one of the coaches to tell their group that the hot tub was off-limits for the remainder of the week.

I'm glad your daughter was ok. There are so many other reasons hot tubs aren't the best choice for kid swimming.

The towel bin should have been there on the left but if you had nasty weather maybe they took it down for a few days? My brother said Orlando had several tornado watches/warnings this past week:

We went on Tuesday, and when I called up front to ask, they said they did not have towels out. It wasn't bad weather, so I am not sure why there was no towel bin.

Maybe they hid it from us, because if I'm not watching, the kids use 3 or 4 towels per shower? :rotfl:

Yes.

Three is the last one to be completed and it has already started.
thanks Missytara for the info! I hope to take Building 4 in POFQ for Dec 2011! Oh! Is Building 4 is close to the food Courts and shops too!:cool1:

:confused3 Why are there no towels at the pool ?

Deluxes always have pool towels for the guests to use.

Is this a permanent change ?

The POFQ rooms do not have balconies and smaller rooms than deluxes - then where would we store and dry our own 4 beach towels ?

I do not want to do laundry :laundy: every day! :scared1:

There has been a bin of pool towels the past two years during our stays at POFQ. If you choose to bring your own, the shower used to have a clothes line to dry things on. Also, you can hang towels on either the clothes rack near the sink or the pegs/coat rack area. See the room pics on portorleans.org.

I left on March 21 and used the pool that day and there were towels in fact there were brand new towels put in the day before (did not smelled washed and were very soft!)

If they've taken that away in the last 2 weeks, you can call housekeeping and they will bring you extra towels so you don't have to use wet ones! That's what everyone else has to do at the Values.

I stayed at CSR in Oct and they always had a good stock of towels at the pool. If it's late at night they might not have any left and won't have the staff to restock them until the next day but in the middle of the day, there should be plenty of towels there!

The only silver/gold bracelet beads sponsored by Disney is Chamilia. Has anyone seen these beads sold anywhere in Disney property?

So far, only one person has mentioned that on one day towels were not out at the resort. We have no indication that this is a new policy, it could just have been a temporary laundry problem.

I guess we need someone on-site at the moment to confirm.

We had some nasty weather last week in Central Florida. If I were a betting person, I'd bet they were moved so that they wouldn't fall over from the high winds that were expected. We had tornadoes touch down in my town. But I will bring towels just in case. Can always use them in the car as a cover if the air conditioning gets too cold.

We'll be there in June and will probably need to do some laundry since it so hot and we'll need to change clothes 2x/day. Where is the laundry area? Is it one area per building? About how many washer/dryers are there in the room. Just trying to get my packing plans set. Can't wait to go and stay in a new refurbished room!! Thanks for your help!

The laundry room is right by the hot tub and pool bar areas, there are probably 20 or so washers and equal at least dryers. Wash and dry each costs $2.

Thank you! I'll make sure to bring my portable hamper to carry the dirty clothes to that area.

We just got back last night from a week at POFQ as first timers. WE LOVED IT HERE and think its our new fav!!! We were in room 2114 and were soooo close to EVERYTHING. the pool and slide were great for my kids, and the grounds were beautiful.

Our one and only complaint... the busses. we waited over 30 mins too many times. MK opened at 8am the whole week, and we were at the busses for 7:05. the bus did not come until 7:35. and on the way back to the resort the same day, we waited 35 mins for the bus to arrive, then they were switching drivers, and the new driver was not there until 10 mins after we were boarded. we did make a complaint to the transportation service, and things seemed to improve a bit. Its just frustrating when you see every other bus coming and going except yours, and then you wait THAT long...

If you have any questions, ask away.
