I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but... Does a gallon of milk fit in the fridge?or should I request half gallons on my order? I did try searching but that was fruitless!

Yes, a gallon container of milk will just fit into the fridge.

in 23 days i am able to check in on-line, when i do so am i able to request a river view room. and what rooms what the best view.

You cannot make any extra requests during online checkin (there is no free-text area, only a few simple tickboxes) so you need to make sure any requests are noted on your original booking. You could also try contacting the resort a few days before you arrive.

River View is a pre-paid category (whuch costs an extra $30 per night), so if you have booked that then you should get it. Otherwise, it never hurts to ask; you never know, someone might give you a free upgarde if all of the River View rooms are not already taken.

We have stayed at Poly many times and will be heading to POFQ on Monday so will be interesting to compare. Our daughter did a lot a research as far as were we should stay this trip and the reviews of the POFQ on multiple sites were what made our choice easy.

We did not realize that we could not make specific requests on the online check in. At the time we made our reservations we did not know that we could request a specific building or corner room and we had hoped to be able to add this request (wish we found this board first :). We did ask for connecting rooms when we made our reservation since we will be helping to watch our 3 year old granddaughter and connecting rooms will make it easier. We were only able to online check in our reservations - but our daughter was not since our reservations were "linked" and we were told that they (daughter's reservation) would be handled at the time of check in. My daughter had no luck with the person she spoke to and, in fact, he was less than helpful. I later called and spoke to another person (who was very helpful) and she suggested that we call the resort a few days prior and ask to include our requests. Will see what happens.:confused3

You can't call the resort directly unless they gave you an unlisted number. Any public number given will actually be routed through a call center that will answer as if they are the resort (based off of the line that rings through). This even happens when you call the "front desk" or "housekeeping" from the in room phone.

To have a request on your reservation you need to call the reservation line and ask to add a request. This is the information they will work off of. Honestly, the less requests you have, the better chance you have at getting it. If connecting rooms are important, make that your only request.

Will a pack and play fit into the area behind the curtain? The baby will go to sleep much easier if he can't see us. :) Thanks!

Does anyone know what a garden view room is? I assume this means a non-parking lot view, but I was wondering if all buildings offer this view or just some. I had a pin code for my reservation and this was the only room category available. I was hoping to be in one of the buildings closer to POR, since I think we will also use some of the amenities there.

Thx!

Amy

Yes, all buildings will have some garden view rooms. I've just had a confirmation back from one of the resort managers that the breakdown works pretty much as I had expected:

Standard: parking lot views
Garden: gardens, courtyards (including the little fountains areas, etc) - but NOT parking lots
Water: swimming pool view
River: erm, well, river!

Thanks! I did call and was routed out as you mentioned. The person I spoke to was very helpful however and did jot down our requests. She made it clear that they could not guarantee but they would do the best they could...and that is all we ask :yay:

i am sure this question has been asked before but there are soo many pages to look through

in 23 days i am able to check in on-line, when i do so am i able to request a river view room. and what rooms what the best view. i am looking at google map and building 7,6,5,2 each seem to have some good views of the river

We just returned from a 5 night stay at POFQ. We paid for a garden view but were upgraded to a river view. I wouldn't want to be in a river view room again because the boats are constantly blowing their horns as they approach the dock and the boats run frequently. In the evening, every ten minutes the boats would pass by. Also, the river view rooms can be quite far from the main building. We were in room 1330 in building one and it was a bit of a walk to the front of the hotel. On a positive note, our room was of course close to the dock.

oh thanks i did not think about the noise from the boats

We've been on the river twice and don't notice the boat noise at all. It becomes a pleasant background sound. Now, if I were staying in one of the Treehouses with the boat passing just feet from the window, I think there I would mind the horns.

We were on the river before, right by the dock. After the first few hours, the noises from the boats just became a normal background noise. Never really noticed it.

And honestly, far from the main building is like a 3 minute walk. POFQ is very compact. It's really not an issue.

i was thinking about it today too. and i guess during the day we will not be in the room at all so the noise during the day will not affect us, and at night i donno how late the boats go till but i dont think they will keep us up

This is definitely a great resort and we will stay here in the future:love:

I have heard that Port Orleans Resort celebrates Mardi Gras with a small parade... does this only take place on the actual day of Mardi Gras, or is it something that goes on for several days prior? We'll be leaving just a few days earlier than Mardi Gras this year and had hoped to see the celebration before we left.

It's a cast member competition where they decorate pargos (those little golf-cart vehicles) and parade them around the resort on Mardi Gras day. Nothing super-official, just a bit of fun. See http://www.portorleans.org/mardigras.php for some photos of previous years.

My husband and I have stayed at the Poly the past 2 years and really like the resort but as I am looking to price our next vacation, in September again, I am realizing the Poly has gone up a little in price and at this point, even with the 40% off, I'm not sure I can justify the cost! I am looking at a moderate resort and the POFQ actually seems really nice and has numerous good reviews. Has anyone stayed at the Poly as well as stayed at the POFQ? If so, would you choose POFQ over the Poly?

I have stayed at both. While I LOVE:love: the Poly, I really can't justify the extra cost, esp with the now limited monorail hours during parties and other hard ticket events. We loved the small size of POFQ, the kids loved the pool, and with Riverside being right next door, you really got 2 resorts in one. It also had the best bus transportation of any resort we have stayed at. While the Monorail is a great perk at the Poly, the bus service was the worst of any resort we have stayed at. Now, I still have to visit the Poly each trip, and if someone was going to give me a free trip, I may choose poly, but for the money, the POFQ is a great choice, now that they have Queen beds.

I have two questions. Does the resort provide pack and play sheets? Does the food court/store sell whole fruit, like bananas and apples?
