This may be a silly question, but are there elevators? I've never stayed here before. Also, does each building have laundry facilities, or are they at a central location?

Hi Bearybear, yes POFQ has elevators. I believe there is a central laundry facility. Happy Planning:wizard:

So first of all thanks everyone for the great reviews, pictures and answers. We leave from east of Toronto at 4:00am tomorrow morning, arriving at POFQ this Friday. :cool1:

This will be our first stay at FQ, we always RV at the Fort but wanted to take advantage of free dining this time.

My youngest daughter just dropped off her brand new blue tongue skink (a lizard to most) to a babysitter and came home crying. She got the "bug" for a lizard after catching SO MANY at the Fort. She is REALLY hopping that there are lizards at POFQ. Please let us know asap, so she can sleep dreaming of lizards tonight......if anyone has any photos that would be great too

Thanks,

Allison and Cassidy

I don't know if there are lizards at POFQ since we have not stayed there before. But I do know they were all over the place at the Polynesian Resort. And I've seen them in the outdoor shrubbery when we've gone to the Yacht Club for dinner.

I've seen the lizards at AKL and at the Contemporary, so I imagine they are all over.

Can we order from Garden Grocer and have it delivered? We usually set the delivery time for shortly after we land so it is waiting for us when we get to the resort. Will they hold the order then deliver it to our room after we check in?

We will be having our 1st onsite stay at WDW 11/3-11/12 and will be at POFQ can't wait.As for lizards I have seen them from Jacksonville to Orlando so I'm sure you'll see some, they are so cute :)

I have seen MANY lizards at POFQ! :thumbsup2 I am certain that you will see some during your stay and will tell you that I always saw the most while waiting for the boat at the boat dock, they love the warm rocks while the sun is out! :goodvibes

I hope your trip is absolutely magical pixiedust:pixiedust:

Garden Grocer does deliver, make sure you give them the actual address of the resort and then set your time for delivery....we did it in March at POP and had no problems, it was delivered before we got there, bell services kept it and then delivered it to our room.

made our ressies today to take a carriage ride with friends on 10/16!

Thanks everyone for the replies, she has read them with a big smile on, now hopefully they will go to sleep soon. We get up in 6 hrs to leave!!!
We are planning on using the boat a few times so we will keep an eye out for sunbathing lizards.....can't wait, will take photos and post a review when we return....

Have a great trip and good luck finding those lizards!!pixiedust:pixiedust:

We've never done this but my 14 yrs old son (bday Aug 5) is 6'3" and weighs 260. My husband (5'8' and avg build) complained last year about sharing a bed with him. Being hit into all night and the covers being stolen, like sleeping with a BIG puppy.

I know I've read that people bring air matresses so I was thinking of getting a twin matterss for my DD8, DH and I could actually sleep in the same bed on vacay (!) and DS 14 could have the other bed.

DO you think it would work space wise? Would we leave the matteress inflated the whole trip and just prop it up or deflate each morning when we leave the room?

Thank you so much.
Never been to POFQ and cannot wait. Two more sleeps :woohoo:

We used a twin air mattress in June 2010. We put it next to the bed closest to the door. We left it inflated and on the floor the whole time. Mousekeepers even "made it up" each day for us. Mind you, that was before the refurb when they had double beds. Maybe someone else can advise you who has used a twin mattress since the refurb.

We are bringing a twin aero bed too for our teen DD who does not sleep with our teen DS...DH wants to sleep with me DD.

What I thought to do.... place the twin areo bed between the outide window and the queen bed. I may also move a chair away from the table and place it in the bathroom area to make more room at night.

The nightstand between the two queen beds is now smaller in width than it was before the rehab. I think by 8 or 10 inches. So the queen beds are now closer to together. Also the queen beds are more likely to be standard queen beds, not oversized, making them a tad larger than a double bed.

During the day - I will strip the sheets of the areobed and lean it up against the wall or window or in the closet. What ever works to keep it out of the way.

We are generally neat people. All we need is the garbage can emptied and clean towels. We stay for 10 nights - so around night 5, I ask for the sheets to be changed on the beds. I can make our own beds in the AM, so can our teens.

I want to stay ta POFQ - but DH wants the Dolphin, which has lots of space for the areobed between the oversized double bed and the balcony.
The Dolphin is 360 sq feet and the POFQ is 314 sq feet.
The extra 36 sq feet creates plenty of room for the areo bed.:rotfl:

We've used twin air mattresses before and after the refurbishment. It was a little tighter with the queen beds, but still worked out wonderfully.

I believe we left the air mattress on the floor with the double beds and tipped it up during the day with the queens.

Have fun!

I just recently switched our post cruise stay at AKL with a pin code to a new reservation at POFQ with free dining. Not only is it over $200 cheaper, but we got 2 extra park days as well.:woohoo: This will be our first stay there and I am so excited.

Does anyone know of any special events on Mardi Gras day? :joker: Maybe a guest parade or dance? Has anyone ever been there on Mardi Gras day?
