So when I booked I booked a Gardenview the last time we stayed 5 years ago there were no Room Types. Any idea of what this is? Where it is?

We've never done this but my 14 yrs old son (bday Aug 5) is 6'3" and weighs 260. My husband (5'8' and avg build) complained last year about sharing a bed with him. Being hit into all night and the covers being stolen, like sleeping with a BIG puppy.

I know I've read that people bring air matresses so I was thinking of getting a twin matterss for my DD8, DH and I could actually sleep in the same bed on vacay (!) and DS 14 could have the other bed.

DO you think it would work space wise? Would we leave the matteress inflated the whole trip and just prop it up or deflate each morning when we leave the room?

Thank you so much.
Never been to POFQ and cannot wait. Two more sleeps :woohoo:

I hope you read this in time. We travel with an air mattress every year. My nephew is impossible to sleep with. He moves and kicks and hits, it guarentees that you will not get a full night sleep. His mom has a great twin blowup mattress. We bring our own sheets from home and inflate it the first night there. We put the bed between the door and the first bed, it fits perfectly, and mousekeeping usually makes it up every day.

ENJOY your trip!

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you...but when is Mardi Gras day?

2012 - Feb 21st. 2013 - Feb 12th
Always the day before Ash Wednesday (Lent) and 47 days before Easter.

Hi Bearybear, yes POFQ has elevators. I believe there is a central laundry facility. Happy Planning:wizard:

pixiedust:

The central laundry area is near the pool (actually between the pool and hot-tub) and shares the building with Mardi Grog pool bar. It's really convenient because you can throw your clothes into the washer or dryer and spend time in either the pool or hot tub. Although they have vending machines for soap, fabric softener, dryer sheets, I personally find it easiest to buy some the the Purex Laundry sheets before I leave home and pack 3 or 4 of them. They' about the size of a 1/2 sheet of paper (but a little thicker) and take absolutely no room up in your suitcases (and makes stuff smell good too)...I know that piece of advice was unsolicited but money saved on that type of stuff is money for Beignettes!! ha ha:rotfl:

to all who are leaving this week, have a great time! can't wait to hear all about your stay!

Such a long thread. But definitely increasing my enthusiasm for our POFQ stay in February.

A couple of questions I haven't seen answered in this thread(or maybe they were, but I missed after 146 PAGES of this stuff).

-Is there a kiddie pool at FQ? I've read/seen pics of the large pool, but hadn't seen anything mentioned about one for little ones.

-Do beignets count as a snack on the DDP?

-Has anyone done the cane pole fishing at POR? I know it's $12 for 30 minutes for a family, just wanted to see how "successful" people had been.

Thanks, all!

Yes, there's a kiddie pool. You can also borrow life jackets/floats (whatever they're called) from the gift shop too.

Yes, they're a snack credit..you get three beignets/credit.

No idea, haven't done it but will look into for our next trip.

Just made spur of the moment reservations yesterday for a January long weekend. It will be a Mommy/Daughter 3 night trip (with free dining). I let DD6 pick among all the Moderates. We had just stayed at CBR and she was really leaning towards it until she saw the POFQ serpent slide and pool. :yay:

Never stayed at POFQ but really, really, REALLY looking forward to it. :lovestruc

Heading out tomorrow & had a last minute question I was hoping someone might have have an answer for ~ is there a shower/changing area near the pool? We've got a late flight out our last day & would love to be able to change before we head to the airport. TIA!

just got back from a short, unplanned, 2 night stay at POFQ...

I was actually booked in at POP...didnt sleep to well the first 2 nights of my stay (hard beds, the fact you could hear a pin drop in the room next door) and then one afternoon I was touring all the mod's to take some pictures and absolutley fell in LOVE with POFQ! I went back to POP and had them switch my ressie over to POFQ the last 2 nights and had a blast...

the grounds are amazing and so relaxing...the rooms look so luxurious with the referb and the food (beignets to DIE for)...I had a blast and despite staying deluxe all previous trips (Poly, AK, WL) I think I finally found my "home" resort...

I will be posting a full TR with pictures in the next few days

Great, PB. We're staying at FQ after saying at WL on each of our previous trips, and while we know it will be nice, it's good to hear someone who loved it after previously staying at deluxe resorts.

There is a kiddle pool but there was just DH and I so although we saw it, I didn't really pay too much attention to it. But I do remember thinking that it was a cute little spot.

As to the beignets - not sure as we weren't on the DDP, but I'm guessing probably one of the smaller servings might be....but whether or not they're on the DDP, you still have to try one (or two, or three). I have icing sugar probably still permanently ground into my Mickey T-shirt.
